Great video!
Awww thanks!
They should hire you at Ripley's Aquarium.......

Please upload the lecture about ecological models used in landscape patterns and processes. such as Landscape Connectivity Models, Patch Dynamics Models, and Graph-Based Models. Thanks
May I know what you've studies?
I'm a marine ecologist by trade specializing in marine mammals ;)
There are very dew channels that provide ecology lectures and presentations. Please never stop posting more lectures
Wow! I am happy I came across this, though the ocean is one but with this well detailed presentation of the marine ecosystem, I know better now!! Would you please make a presentation on Biological Oceanography. Thank you, Great Job 👍 From Nigeria 🇳🇬
Thanks so much! That would be a great one to add one day!
Love this!! From Nigeria🇳🇬
Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth , you mentioned landscape equilibrium, I am not sure if this applies to what you are talking about or if you can answer this but what does it mean to "Define Heterogeneity within Landscape Ecology" . •Landscape heterogeneity is defined as the number and proportions of different cover types (compositional heterogeneity) and their complex spatial arrangement (configurational heterogeneity) in the landscape but what exactly is the correlation and/or effects of changing ( either increasing or decreasing) composition and configuration, in landscape heterogeneity. Also what is an example of a shifting mosaic.
Hi there, my apologies for the delay! I missed this comment. Here's a bit of info for you: Defining Heterogeneity within Landscape Ecology: Landscape heterogeneity in landscape ecology refers to the variety and spatial arrangement of different land cover types within a landscape. It can be further divided into two key components: Compositional Heterogeneity: This aspect focuses on the number and proportions of various land cover types within the landscape. It essentially describes what types of elements (e.g., forests, wetlands, urban areas) are present and in what quantities. Configurational Heterogeneity: This aspect delves into the complex spatial arrangement or pattern of these different land cover types. It describes how these elements are distributed, their shapes, sizes, and how they interact spatially. Correlation and Effects of Changing Composition and Configuration: Altering the composition and configuration of a landscape can have profound ecological consequences. Here are some potential effects: Biodiversity: Changing composition and configuration can impact species diversity. For example, increasing the proportion of a certain land cover type might favor species adapted to that habitat, while decreasing it could reduce their populations. Ecosystem Services: Modifications can affect the provision of ecosystem services such as pollination, water purification, and climate regulation. Connectivity: Changes can influence the connectivity of habitats, affecting species' ability to move and disperse, which can have implications for genetic diversity and resilience. Disturbance and Resilience: Alterations in configuration can influence how disturbances (e.g., wildfires) spread and how landscapes recover from such events. Example of a Shifting Mosaic: A shifting mosaic is a concept in landscape ecology that describes the dynamic and ever-changing nature of landscapes due to natural processes and disturbances. An example could be a forest ecosystem subject to periodic wildfires. In this scenario: The "mosaic" refers to the different patches or areas within the forest, which may consist of varying stages of growth and different species compositions. The "shifting" part highlights that these patches change over time as fires burn through the landscape. After a fire, a patch of mature forest might become a patch of young regenerating forest, creating a dynamic mosaic of forest patches at different stages of development.
I am trying to link Sustainability with Landscape Ecology, Can you please make a video on this subject. And these are great videos on Ecology thanks a lot
Great idea Srijna! I will certainly put that one on the list!
Hello plz can you help me for this question. Molecular techniques use DNA which can be manipulated for various purposes. One basic approach is to cut DNA specifically using restriction enzymes. Explain how you would demonstrate the result of using different enzymes on a DNA sample under different digestion condition.
Hi there, I don't specialize in molecular biology, but here's a good resource for topics in molecular bio - tinyurl.com/332c44ea
Have to do a poster on mediterannean landscape gradients and I had never been taught about ecological or landscape gradients before. This has helped a lot!
Hello, it was a very interesting presentation! However, it would be useful to add references to your presentation =D
Great suggestion - thanks Sarah!
Thank you, teacher!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! As a dutch person I am wondering what kind of bar built estuary we have in the Netherlands. Would that be the Wadden Sea?
Very cool - I have always wanted to go there! Apparently the Western Scheldt estuary is a bar built one!
@@lizferguson Oh yea I looked it up now, you are right! I always forget the Westerschelde is also the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta area. I guess that comes with the heavy human-made infrastructure there to keep the cities and villages dry.
Thank you, teacher! From 🇮🇳
Of course - glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for the upload again, teacher! People like me appreciate free education like this and we are grateful 😊
Thank you - glad it is useful!
All this knowledge for free. Thank you!
Great video
Thanks!!!
I have started my PhD with Professor Andrew Gonzalez (McGill University) where we are aiming to conduct my PHD research work on the scale dependency of Biodiversity-Ecosystem Function relationship. I watched several videos on UA-cam and I guess your one is one of the best resources for anyone to understand this new emerging topic of ecology. Thanks for bringing such concise and easily understandable video.
Thank you so much for the comment - I'm glad to hear it is helpful and best of luck with your PhD!
HOW does this video have 100 views but 0 likes? This is great content!
Thanks so much!
Thank you, Elizabeth; this is extremely helpful, and the explanatory flow is fantastic....
Thanks Kasara!
please upload video on how to prepare raster data for landscape metrics determination.
I will aim to!
you are doing very great work.
Thanks! And good suggestions!
Please upload videos how to process landscape metrics in R
Wow mam, helps a lot.
Thanks - glad it is useful!
Glad it helped!
Superb! Keep up the great work! You should look into using promosm!! It’s a very powerful tool, you can promote all of your social media profiles, UA-cam videos etc!!!
Thanks Jake! I will definitely look into it ;)
Helpful. Thanks
