Hi I'm J & this channel is about Cycling, Hiking, Exploring, mental health and all things Outdoors
I have lived in London for over 20 years and explored most of it by bike, so why not show people what the real London looks like.
To kick off I will be revisiting the places I've lived to see what I can remember and what they look like now, will they have they changed much ? I will take you on a journey of where I lived, worked and sometimes played to give you the benefit of a local point of view.
When the story ends I will be simply picking different neighbourhoods to explore and get lost in to see what they are all about. I will also be doing some hiking another great hobby of mine.
So If you have any ideas where to go, feel free to suggest them & I will add them to the list
Remember this is Scuzzy London, none of the big stuff like Big Ben & Trafalgar Square, you can see that anywhere.

Why are there SO MANY abandoned buildings here ?
This week I head out to an old RAF airbase in the Hertfordshire countryside. RAF Hunsdon was used as an active RAF base during World War 2 from 1941
The first unit to arrive was the No 85 Squadron 85 the Boston Havocs. In 1944 Mosquitos from 21 Squadron RAF, 46 Squadron (Australia) RAF, 487 Squadron (New Zealand) RAF. There was also
A Canadian squadron based here No 442 (Caribou) Canada Squadron.
As we walked around the site we kept finding more and more Pillboxes used as a defence ring around the airstrip.
We then watched a few locals taking their light aircraft out before continuing the explore around the site.
This was a fascinating and fun day out which whether you are interested in military history or not, you would enjoy the rural scenery. If you want to see the location see my Strava or Komoot links below

This week I have another walk and wonder. A few things come to mind, we even meet a few local characters along the way. If you need a bit of inspiration maybe this will help give you a push in the right direction. All these ideas are 100% my own and there is no script what so ever, just a bunch thoughts that tumble straight out of my head. Hopefully some Of you will pick up some sort of sense f...

This is the last part of the Angle Way walking trip and this time we explore the historic town of Thetford, famous for one thing in particular, Dads Army. The series was filmed in the area, there is a statue and museum all about it. But it’s more than that, it’s not a bad place for a quick look around, the river is lovely and there’s a few nice historic buildings. Oh and we fed some hungry stra...

This week in part 2 of our Angles Way explore walk, we meet some other intrepid travellers at our campsite where the Old US Army Air Force 388th Bombardment Group H was situated. They are all on their own expeditions around the area, before we hit the road again. At a lunch stop in a church yard, we stumble across on of the most incredible empty buildings I have ever seen, this place is just ri...

This week I take a long walk along one of the UK’s ancient walking trails in East Anglia, the Angles Way. Along the way few discover Some interesting sights including windmills, historic churches and the source of a river. At the end of the day we set up camp in a lovely little camp site. This will be the first of a series of walking explorations of which there will be many more to come. I hope...

This week I take myself to another new part of London. I manage to have a good look around the area and discover some very interesting parts That I never knew existed. I found a skate park where that I didn’t know was there, busy streets, kosher food shops, Hasidic or Ultra Orthodox Jews an Industrial estate and some lovely weather. I hope you fond this one interesting I know I did. If you fanc...

In the last part of the Rendlesham adventure we continue the journey after our night in the forest and follow another section of the Wolf Way as we make our way back to the start at the station in Ipswich. Along the way we meet more friendly pigs, stop off at Orford Quay, find a bad car accident or car wreck and try to figure out how it happened, then stumble across a replica Viking Longboat at...

dunny very important piece of kit, not leaving your mess about made a big difference in the fight for Africa WW2.
Thats a very valid point good sir 👍🏼
This was such a fun day out exploring all the old WWII buildings around the airfield and trying to piece together what it must have been like at the time, even finding a couple of extra ones at the end. This must have been a pretty important place at one point in time.
Very Interesting! 🤔
Thanks a lot
Scuzzy got Fuzzy.... 😉👍🏻
Indeed he did 😆
Nice 😊
Thanks 😊
@ScuzzyLondon Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎊🎉🥂🎄
Awfully sunny in Thetford for this time of year.
Indeed, it certainly was a couple of months ago
I know this area well and they are indeed Hasidic Jews. Apparently large numbers of them have moved to Canvey Island of all places as it’s safer and where there’s is lots of low cost housing available. Anyway cheers for the entertaining vids man!
Is that right, well i never knew that. Maybe ill check it out sometime. Thanks I’m doing my best, appreciate the comments 👍🏼
It’s a stunning place isn’t it? We have visited twice. Would love to have a look around inside. It’s only an hour from us in sunny Suffolk! New sub by the way 👌🏼🙂
Referring to the prep school by the way. Loved the Hell on Earth reference 😉
I would have loved to explore this amazing property inside, but apart from no time it would have felt wrong to go in. Would you have tried to get inside ?
☺️☺️ beautiful
Thank you! 😊
I always appreciate a Windy Miller reference!
Haha someone got it Yay 😂😂😂
That looks great so far. Where did you find the route? Would you recommend it?
Thanks it was a great day in perfect weather. The route can be found on Komoot.com and i definitely recommend it
Similar with me, I was just trainspotting then a locomotive and carriges with the old scotrail livery (it looked a bit like from the 1980's) stopped where I was . So I done some research and I litteraly found the push-pull railtour (the loco was a class 47 and it had a driving brake thing on the back)
that might have been the 'black 5' with a class 47 locomotive on the back
☺️🎶
I love it❤....thank you for sharing. Good old days
This was my stomping ground, absolutely loved cycling the trails and discovering new areas! Once followed the River Lea from the Middlesex Filter Beds to Enfield Loch, lovely route
Excellent, its an interesting area with loads to discover, there’s so much to see. Glad you found it interesting
This is awesome - thanks for sharing 😎
Glad you liked it, we will do more of it next year 👍🏼
they go into central london ..and then poke fun at royal guards ....other than that there completely disconnected from rest of london ......Some of the men dont work they study religious text all-day ..... Really not much i can say about them because outsider rarely gets to see the culture as whole ..only see snippet here there ...Everything is kept in community ..all buying and selling and manufacturing all business is done with in community .........they may even have there own court system but not legal sense of the state i would say i one of there own contracts and agreements As for how large spread is community It about 8 miles but separated in pockets with that 8 mile ....they tend buy houses on same street and only sell to same community.... May have noticed big difference in that community and others .....They all out on streets playing kids etc ...you dont see that anywhere else ..because those area safe for there community there such majority that own the houses on that street that safe enough let kids play .......That part right there is part that i think is good .....safer streets is best part about them They dont leave much because this simple fact ...No reason to leave area ...all business all people all community already there ....they dont do business very often with outsiders ...they dont want waste anytime with anyone that not there community ....to them everything outside of there community is pointless non existing.....the older or younger generation might have different attitude to that though ..i cant speak for them. The look they give you is same you give them ...ignorance ....there confused by your life as you of theres ....they dont smile in same way you might not be ...confused and ignorance to each other ...when all you know live and eat sleep is one community ...then a life such yours is one they have nothing that can relate to each other on ....schools completely different so not like there single thing either of you two can relate too ....well other than traffic bad the weather not great and councils could do better .:D those things we can all relate too ....
Some interesting points there
They have their own police force too, I tried to make contact once but was ignored. The children go to school but down learn national curriculum, so leave only knowing their own religion.
Really enjoyed this video! I was raised in Stamford Hill. Few of us make it out the community. I left 8 years ago for the USA, but it's great to see the streets of my childhood.
That’s good to hear, you are exactly the type of person i make these videos for. Glad you liked it
🥰
I think you would like London in the cold weather
@ScuzzyLondon yeah 🥰

@ScuzzyLondon you're welcome
I used to live there coys
Great, hope you enjoyed it
nice video, getting me excited for summer 2025!
Ha yes, it will be here before you know it
How embarrassing to see it now
Has it changed much ?
@@ScuzzyLondon i lived there from 1946 to 1976. Can you imagine the changes after those years. Mostly the feckless detrius and inability to look after their and pride in their own environment has been lost. The dismantling of civic architecture that should have been preserved in the race to put inhabitants including families in the most ugly and depressing high rises. Even after the experience of ronan point and promising never to house families in these. Small cottage victorian houses with 3 beds and gardens were looked after with pride. Now they are neglected with rubbish in gardens etc. The last time i visited the green shopping centre and market i was met by a police barriers as only 25 mins previously a gang of yoofs had knifed a middle aged man in those flats trying to rush in and the man trying to lock the doors on the gang. This was during lunchhour. A lovely jamaican lady warned us not to leave our car in the multi story carpark as there had been stabbings and trouble every day. Edmonton has acquired the nickname of shank town now, which you wouldnt know on a short visit. Different demographics i suppose.
How embarrassing to see it now😢
Well places change over time i guess
@ScuzzyLondon London changes over time as well. Far too quick and downwards.
😊
☺️
Another entertaining vid. We'll have to squeeze more trips in next year.

Ha neither have i but absolutely i do, we need to work something out
Ist time I saw a mountin bike was 1986 at Stonehenge while the police were moving everyone around and out of the county, blew my mind, amazing how much and how quickly bicycles have been evolving this last 40 years, you got a great set up there bruv, stay safe and ride free!!
Think I’ve spent most of my life on two wheels. My first 3 mtbs were all suspension free Marins, bombproof they were, great. Its true the tech today is amazing and mine is no where near most of it. Thanks man

Interesting video, however, Scuzzy London can be excused for getting the location for the Cardiff Arms pub' incorrect, where ScuzzyLondon is standing when talking about the pub' is on the section of road (The Strand) behind Lidl (once the site of Sainsbury's Homebase), the pub's location was further down The Strand, approximately 300 metres away at the side of King's Lane. Paul Durden was a legend in Swansea, a fabulous guy, full of wit and wonder, who I'd known as a friend for 50+ years, his demise has left a huge hole in the Swansea scene; he is greatly missed.
Yes i had a feeling at the time i might be a tad off the mark, but figured id go with it anyway. Funny how 20 odd years fades the memories a bit eh !
@@ScuzzyLondon Still a fine collection of fun vid's.
John hicks good channel shows you the real gta more of swansea I wanna see 😊
Exactly he’s wild compared to my style, but the ideas there. More Swansea, ok ill work on that 👍🏼
Looking good so far.

This is a brilliant idea.. also an excellent training route for someone.. thanks for sharing..
Ha thanks yes it was fun as long as your quite traffic savvy
Thank you so very much for this video. I keep on thinking about what I am doing in my channel and I do think that just like you there are some that are influential in how I make my stuff. I love exploring and just checking out new places, famous and mundane just the same. I'm really glad I have come across your channel as I think your doing a great job and I can learn some things from you too. I like the fact that you bike everywhere, I need to get back into shape some day so I can do some biking too, maybe even in a vlog, although I don't think viewers want to see me huff and puff trying to bike around, lol. Great video though, thanks again for posting this. I'm glad I'm subscribed and will see your journeys.
