Femundsmarka is a nice place. We have been there once in the vinter, and are planning a new trip in about a week. I wish the video part 2 of your adventure was online! - it is blocked in Norway :-(

As of the route: I started at the railway-station in Belluno, hiked N-NNE to Gioz, Bolzano, followed some forest roads to Giazzoi, along roads to Libano and Peron, crossed the river to the E-side, then hiked upstream along roads and paths, crossed a dam and after a few kilometers I hiked up to the Pian de Fontana. Then I followed the Alta Via 1 to the North but went around the Cime de Citta to the East (Sentiero CAI 520 & Sentiero CAI 513) to the Rif. Pramperet.

Also zur Ausrüstung: 1 Golite Pinnacle Rucksack, 1 VAUDE Refuge Zelt, 1 Cumulus Alaska 1100 Schlafsack, 1 Therm-a-Rest SOLite Matte + 1/2 Multimat Adventure XL, billiger Ling-Yun F-06 Gaskocher, 1 Paar Snowline Chainsen, 1 PHD Minimus Daunenjacke, Ortovox Merino Fleece Hoody. Ich glaube das wären so die wichtigsten Teile. Temperaturen waren so bis -16°C, nicht sooo kalt, aber über mehrere Tage hinweg weiß man ja nie genau, deswegen auch der warme Schlafsack.

Schöne Bilder wieder. Ich habe letzten Mai dann auch eine Nacht im Kaisertal biwakiert und bin inzwischen auf Leichtausrüstung umgestiegen. Empfehlen kann ich den Terra Nova 35 l Rucksack sitzt super bei mir und wiegt nur 480gr, mit Hüfttaschen. Kannst du die Austrüstung etwas beschreiben, die du bei dieser Tour dabei hattest?

Thank you for your interest! Regarding water - I was there in November, and it rained sometimes, so not all creeks were dry. In the eastern part I mostly bought water and sometimes found water at the side of small chapels. In the mountains (Psiloritis) it rained and snowed - water enough. On the south coast - well, almost everyday a shop to buy water. Between Chora Sfakion and Paleochora are also a few springs. Sometimes I used Micropur Forte. I had no moskitos in november

I must add that it makes me wonder about acces to fresh water while on the road.Is it hard to get water or easy ? Im gonna take alot of stuff like u did plus some dry food. what about moscitos ? is common problem with them ? On Cyprus it was so annoying at night to fight with them !

Beautiful. What I like most, is the "real feel" of being in your own pace on hike, beyond pure a sportive approach. Time enough for coffee an flours, but certainly a long time on your feet.

It sure is fun, isn't it? Going out into the woods.... sleeping on the ground, building a fire, cooking on your stove....enjoying nature.. Great video.

On this hike we went from Buffalora to the Jufplaun and further to the Cima de Serraglio and back again.

Thanks for your interest! For this hike I used a Ray-Way tarp made after his measurements. Without the beaks around 190cm wide and 270cm long. You can find more at the website of Ray Jardine.

Bei der Kleidung bin ich noch nicht ganz klar. Meine Rab Regenjacke wiegt 460gr, die Regenhose mit Bein-Reissverschlüssen 380gr. Ich weiss nicht, ob man da in den Bergen kompromisse machen sollte? Falls du mit deiner Erfahrung mir Tips zu UL Produkten geben kannst, bin ich sehr dankbar. Ich freue schon auf die frische Bergluft und die Ruhe.

Danke für den Tourentip. Werd' ich die kommenden Tage wahrscheinlich dann mal machen. Ich probiere es dann auch mal etwas mehr mit UL Ausrüstung. Als Kochausrüstung dachte ich an den Sprituskocher und Bierdosentopf von trecking-lite-store(dot)com (Trail Designs 12-10 Stove), Als Rucksack probieren ich erstmal einen alten Stadtrucksack mit 500gr an den ich aussen noch was anschnalle, bevor ich mir einen UL R. kaufe. Als Zelt habe ich ein Tarptent mit 540 gr (Shangri La 1).

Ja die Tour war gerade letzte Woche. Der Startort war Kufstein und es ging etwas ins Kaisergebirge hoch. Wandern kann man da im Moment eben ins Kaisertal, zur Vorderkaiserfeldenütte und weiter hoch zum Petersköpfl, da bist Du dann aber schon noch etwas im Schnee. Oder auch hinauf aufs Brentenjoch oder zum Berghaus Aschenbrenner.

Ja, ich muss mal eine Tour mit einem UL Rucksack probieren. War diese Tour eigentlich dieses Jahr? Wo in Tirol kann man jetzt schon wandern? Kannst du mir den Startort sagen?

Zu Deiner Frage: Das ist schwierig zu beantworten, ich habe sonst auch recht leichte Ausrüstung, und meine beiden leichtesten Rucksäcke - ein Selbstgenähter wiegt ca. 150g und der RayWay-Rucksack aus dem Video wiegt ca. 250g, beide haben keine Hüftgurte, die sind für mich bis ca. 11kg gut tragbar. Also für mich lohnt es sich, da ich jetzt statt ein Ausrüstungsgewicht von 4,5kg am Rücken dann 5,7kg hätte, fast 2 Tage Essen. Das mußt Du wohl für Dich selbst herausfinden, ob es sich lohnt.

Bei deinen Videos bekomme ich immer gleich wieder Lust selber loszuziehen. Nur eine Frage zu den UL Rucksäcken ohne Tragegestell: ich habe einen mit super Gestell (ca1450 gr), das ganze Gewicht sitzt auf den Hüften, an den Schultern merkt man fast nix. Lohnt sich da das 1 kg gesparrtes Gewicht des UL Rucksacks wirklich?

Danke für den Kommentar! Ja so klassische UL-Ausrüstung hat schon was für sich, bin ja da schon fast mit UL vintage gear unterwegs. Auch der YACC-stove im Video ist schon von 2007, das Marmot DriClime Windshirt von 2002. Besonders der RayWay Rucksack ist sehr leicht und trägt sich wunderbar. Der Teil mit den Wolken ist der Canon Miniatureffekt (Zeitraffer) von der Powershot SX230.

Sehr schönes, kleines Video. Die Aufnahmen am Ende mit den aufsteigenden Wolken (1:40) sind toll geworden. Gefällt mir auch nochmal klassische RayWay Ausrüstung in Aktion zu sehen. Muss nicht immer nur Cuben sein! ;-) Unser Tarp hat leider schon die besten Zeiten hinter sich... Vielen Dank für das inspirierende Video!

The tent has two vestibules so even your gear can stay dry. With Ti stakes it comes in around 2 lbs. Such a simple well designed shelter!

Great video. Nice to see euros outdoors backpacking and camping even in winter! I have this tent. My son uses it for backpacking and camping with the Boy Scouts. It really helps to manage his weight as he is only 11 and carries his own gear. It is fairly stable in the wind but does develop some condensation on summer trips in Colorado. Its not too bad, especially if you open the vestibule on rainless nights. You won't find a lighter full featured tent for so little money.

Thank you for the comment. If it is a quiet night with moderate winds (up to 30 km/h) you would get by without the side pegs, obviously only, if you use this tent alone. I used the Refuge just for a couple of winter nights, there I had bit of frost inside, but I had also closed the doors of the tent. Maybe if you leave the front and back door open and do not peg the apsis in the back down to the ground it will not be much condensation at all. In summer I use more tarps.

Pretty interesting; the side pegs are a must for the Refuge. A little question: do you have any condensation issues with this tent?
