    Cool conversation. "Slow as you go". I'm 62F and about to do it again. I'm a runner..well, jogger, and just want to tighten up a little and stretch out, too, take care of my physical self a little more. I'm not shooting for perfection, I'm shooting for health, and (almost) any physical activity can help. I think it'll be fun...we'll see how old I really am... In the end, the mental benefits are what's the most rewarding for me. Thanks again.

    Ab Ripper! No weights! Do it once every 3rd day and eventually every other day. Do not ever do it for consecutive days. As it gets easier, contract your abs better to focus on hitting them well.

    Look in prison thats what we had for after working out. I wud personally steal it from the chow hall and sell it. We wud just add chocolate powder and drink it with a banana or other fruit. Plus we wud even add extra sugar. After training real hard it's needed along with protein. Milk also has electrolytes perfect for post training. And best of all its dirt cheap out here. I still drink it now It's better then whey in my opinion.

    Try eating 80% of your daily calories as complex carbohydrates such as fresh vegetables, legumes, some fruit, 100% whole grain breads, pastas and rice. Eat mostly beans for protein. 10% of your daily calories can be protein such as chicken breast, turkey, fish, lean red beef and lamb. Avoid pork, processed meats like sausages and hot dogs, avoid all seafood as well like lobster, shrimp and crab for example. Finally, eat 10% of your daily calories as fat like milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, eggs and so on. Drink only water, herbal teas and coffee. Avoid processed foods like snack bars, cookies, cereals etc... Do not fry your food. Only boil it or bake it in the oven. BBQ meat is fine too. Cook only with 100% extra virgin olive oil. Do not use corn oil, vegetable oil, canola or other types of oil that are toxic to your health. Finally, I supplement my diet with Nutrigout which helps cleanse the kidneys.

      Very true! It’s also possible to eat too much sugar from fruit, especially sweet fruits like grapes and bananas. Regardless of where it comes from, it’s usually good for your health to reduce sugar in any form

    watermelon is arguably the sweetest fruit in the world. It is plant-based and its sugar is bad for you, let's face it.

    • @romanotorri7920
      @romanotorri7920 Місяць тому

      Watermelon only has 6g of sugar per 100g which surprised me considering how sweet it is. I don't think it's that bad. I don't even think sugar itself is awful for you. The problem is when companies make delicious foods containing sugar. An apple may have the same amount of sugar as 1 biscuit. Most people after having 1 apple won't crave another apple. But after having 1 biscuit, most people will crave another. It leads to overconsumption which I think is the real issue

    • @TimMartinMDAbilene

      Most people are shocked when I tell them how much sugar popular fruits contain

    • @TimMartinMDAbilene
      @TimMartinMDAbilene 25 днів тому

      Overconsumption is a huge problem, especially when it’s so hard to determine serving sizes. There is a lot of research establishing how harmful sugar is for us, and we Americans eat a LOT of it

    I'm on Nutrisystem now for the second time. The first time was 15 years ago, and I lost 30#, going from 205 to 175. I remember after I hit my goal weight having EXACTLY the experience Dr. Martin describes. I didn't want to lose more, but Nutrisystem didn't offer any guidance on how to wean off the plan to "normal" food. Fast forward to today, life happens, and here I am giving it another shot. I exercise 4x a week, both lifting and cardio. Nutrisystem is reteaching me two really important lessons: portion control and listening to my hunger. I find myself recognizing that I don't need to fill my plate (or have seconds!) to feel full. I've also become more attuned to seeing food for what it is, fuel, rather than a reward. Once again for those in the back: Food is fuel, not a reward. I'm down about 8lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. Onward!
