If this has already been answered, apologies but does anyone know what the correct length of the wire needs to be?
Thanks for the tutorial. Did you mesure the length of the cable? Did you attached from the bottom?
Great video saved me a fortune by doing it myself and using the chandelier wire 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Many thanks for posting this, your opening shot of your roof looks exactly like mine, so I'm going to follow your lead and see what happens.
Well done. Having had the roof fabric replaced professionally a couple of years pre the covid thing my nearside rivet failed a few months ago, I heard it go and thought at first I'd taken a stone to the windscreen. In the end I took it to a local indie, Pie Performance in Suffolk who did a great job for me. I'm pretty sure you could get the high tensile cable and the fittings at any smallboat chandlery: this to them is bread and butter boat rigging. My original roof coach trimmer? He retired probably when covid made a mockery of the economy.
Nice video, thanks. I couldn't quite follow your description of the rivet replacement job though. Do you have any more details? You talked about salvaging the existing rivet, I think? Not quite sure what needs to be done.
Great job!! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the video, I had the broken rivet and super glued and put a screw through the back of it. My god how many screws to get to it. All good at this stage. Thanks again.
I happen to love the presence of all these screws! Nothing left to chance on this high performance motor. Btw, do you have the part numbers for the cable mentioned in the video? I've the same problem.
Thanks for the tutorial. Picking up a used C4S next week with this exact issue. Good to know I don’t have to replace the roof.
I've got the same gap problem on the same side as you had. Thanks for posting this, very helpful. I'll be checking out what's failed, rivet or cable. thanks
Hey - I have this exact problem. I have got some ~2mm cable and I have a solution for the front end of the cable (not quite yours, but I think it’ll work). How did you fix the rear end of the cable? I’m having trouble attaching that end to the bolt...
Hi Nicholas, my cable had a loop on the other end already so just used a washer over to secure.
Good job 👍
