Learning How To Operate My JCB SiteMaster 3CX
Having never driven a JCB before or even a tractor for that matter. This was a totally new experience for me. First mastering how to drive it around it was then learning which lever did what with the bucket going everywhere but where I wanted it to go. Over time I have definitely got better and improved with some delicate touches.

Demolition !! Opening Up The Old Connecting Doorway My French Farmhouse With Help From My JCB
Переглядів 441Місяць тому
The two parts of my French Farmhouse had been separated for probably over 30 years. Although when I bought this property I bought both houses from two different sellers which complicated things and it took nearly 9 months for the French Notary to finalise the purchase which was frustrating. So I was very happy to finally make the two old farmhouses back to one home. My JCB SiteMaster 3CX which ...

Removing My Old Tomette Tiles and Replacing Them With A New Douglas Fir Timber Floor
Переглядів 1,9 тис.6 місяців тому
Renovating old houses is always hard work and here I removed 25 square meters of old Tomette tile’s recycling as many as possible for reuse in my farmhouse. I removed approximately 5 tonnes of old soil that was sandwiched between wooden slats and the Tomette tiles and dispersed of this over my field. The Tomette tiles were wire brushed and ready for reuse. Then I cut all the Douglas fir wood to...
How To Solder Copper Pipes Whilst Renovating My 300 Year Old French Farmhouse

Here I demonstrate how to solder copper pipes together so basically a little plumbing tutorial which shows you how to do this in real time. I am doing the last connection for the water supply pipe for my electric shower. Most of the shower cold water feed pipe is in modern 16mm plastic pipe which is generally easier to install being possibly push fit or compression. Ultimately though the new pl...

Truly Amazing Old Oak Timber Recycled For A Window Cill Window Seat
Переглядів 2,3 тис.9 місяців тому
Here I have taken an old live edge chunk of timber I bought from a French friend and gave it a new lease of life as my downstairs bedroom / office window cill or even seat. Definitely a seat for my two cats in the French sunshine. The front boxing in timber I found at my property when I bought the farmhouse and again found a good use for it rather than firewood. The window cill can now be varni...
Totally Magnificent Traditional Stone Room Restoration and Using Reclaimed Tomette Tiles

Here I am renovating my rear bedroom / downstairs office and soon to be incorporated shower room. The tomette tiles are reclaimed from the upstairs section of the 300 year old French farmhouse. Some of the tomette tiles need a clean using a wire brush as I decided part way through the tiling process to clean each tile by hand. Once I have cleaned the remaining few tomette tiles so they kind of ...

Love watching but can barely hear you.
Great results but a bit more than just speeded up videos to watch please
Hi and thanks for your comment and what would you like to see
Votre projet demande beaucoup de travail. Bon courage et bonne année 2025
Bonjour et merci pour votre commentaire. Oui, beaucoup de travail, même si je continue d'avancer à mon rythme.
Stop it with your gîtes !!!! You Brtitish are all busy with your "gîtes" but who, do you think, will still be able to afford a holiday in gîtes in the coming years with a such catastrophic economic and social situation both in France and in the UK and in all the E.U I should say ? Do you ever get informed and think?
Thanks For The Comment although for all those watching my videos and looking to live in France let me tell you that France has the third highest government debt in Europe with a 109% ratio exceeding the agreed 60% GDP limit. Yet in many parts of rural France it’s the British, Dutch and Belgians amongst a great multitude of people who help prop up the fragile economy of rural France. With yes their Gites, restaurants, bars and cafes. Notwithstanding the money they spend in the rural French economy supporting it with their combined taxes and definitely there renovation budgets and employing people in such work. The local French people are employed in the supermarkets, banks and other service oriented industries. Yet the major problem for all residents of plant earth is we have approximately 120 years until the end of fossil fuels and solar, wind and nuclear are not going to support probably 10 billion people come 2140 So I have planted a lot of trees on my 3 hectares and continue to do so along with a possible Gite.
@@frenchpropertyrenovations7788 "Yet the major problem for all residents of plant earth is we have approximately 120 years until the end of fossil fuels and solar, wind and nuclear are not going to support probably 10 billion people come 2140" 😂😂😂 Ok, continue to listen the mainstreams medias... You're really not informed and too stupid. Good luck !
@@frenchpropertyrenovations7788 Well said! Just 1 question. I've watched a couple of your videos so far and I get the impression that you live in France permanently? How do you manage that? I thought it was 3 months out of 6 now that we left the EU.
Hello and thanks for the comments and support. I applied for a work visa when I came over to France to live. I am a fully qualified plumber with additional building construction qualifications so they usually help all over the world as a shortage of skilled labour. Maybe I should do a video on getting related videos to live and work in France or retiring to the French countryside
Great video buddy really enjoyable watching this progress. Many Thanks.
Thanks for the comment and appreciated
Good luck my friend ! We are retired from Brussels & we bought also a old house in France
Thanks and they usually come with some kind of work to do although it’s worth it
All the best fella for 2025 just found the channel looking to do the same over the next couple of years.
Thanks and the weather here is usually far better in the summer months. My first year here was beautiful sunny weather from March through to the end of October
@@frenchpropertyrenovations7788 Alistair are you still working on the first property or has it been sold now? Best Dean.
I am still working on it and have some more videos to post soon in the New Year although I have had no fibre optic broadband since the storms in November which brought down a lot of trees here. As soon as I am reconnected I will post them
@@frenchpropertyrenovations7788 Do you think the 2nd property will be an easier task, great content unlike a lot of channels talking waffle.
Looks straight enough but she’s plenty Smokey …
Just found your channel looking forward to watching catch up , can i ask how much you paid , looks right up my street
Thanks for the comment and at the moment that’s a secret because now owning two properties and so much work I have in the future to reduce this to one property and hopefully we can reflect together at what I paid for properties and what I spent and how much work I personally put into it and you get to see at what stage I finished the work and sold it. Basically so I can show everyone some real sweat equity being created
@frenchpropertyrenovations7788 Awesome job .
Hello, pleased to see you are doing a renovation project, be honest and dont lie about the work you are doing like others on these sites, good luck with it,,
Thanks very much and yes I am a fully qualified plumber and I do most of the work myself unless it’s really specialised but even then I try to get involved and help. Plus no living in a nice gîte down the road as I actually live in the property I renovate and I always have done and always will. it’s how you save money and make money
Lots of hard work and preparation but hope that’s air lime you sr3 using and not the dreaded NHL?
Wow
Thanks for comment and I did that with a chainsaw and an axe no log splitter so possibly better than a trip to the gym and outdoor work in the summer sun which I think is better than work if you get me
Mortar is your sacrificial layer
👍👍
How did you get on with the jcb loads of memory's of that model the best of that range and the best,Aidan in Ireland
That machine is smoking very heavily!!!!
the JCB is over 30 years old so not in too bad a condition and it does need a new turbo as the current one has a crack in it so maybe sometime in the future when I am not spending my money on my house it will definitely get to the top of the list. I have replaced a lot of the ram seals and I have put my septic tank in now so that video with the JCB will soon be uploaded to my channel
How did you check the walls before buying the property? Any particular signs to look at for certain levels of water ingress?
believe it or not I bought my first property with 5 pictures and some drone footage of the house and field. I have been in construction all my life and a bare bones property like this basically 4 walls and a roof. It’s basically built on soil no damp proof membrane so you will always have rising damp to approximately 1m from ground level, hence why I point all the walls with lime mortar so the walls can breath and moisture can escape. So long as the walls are relatively straight no big cracks or bulges you should be ok.
Nonce is at it again with young girls , grooming them when they have had a drink , you don’t smoke don’t drink remember funny how you work
The walls and the tile work look amazing. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the room.
I have now installed a downstairs bathroom and put a timber stud wall in. This also allowed for some electrical sockets in the bedroom/ office room so little steps and slow progression
Nice pointing, you have a much more flexible back than mine 🤣
Thanks and not so flexible some days
You're going to want to seal the other side up too it might make them cup if you don't 👍
Volume is off
Is the pipe your soldering 16 mm. The torch your you are using does not fit the gas bottles in France. I bought a converter to use the gas bottles. It was about £40. I have the code number for that Torch if you need it.
Hi and yes that might be helpful for me and others reading the comments. I have friends who pop back over to the UK so they usually bring me a new gas bottle here and there as it’s also good for lighting the fire. The pipe was 14mm although I worked from 8mm to 600mm during my plumbing life
Thank you, it was useful to hear from someone with professional experience! Inexpert onlooker question - is it possible the additional nut on the tap is to allow tightening at the correct orientation, rather than just spinning up to the natural end of the thread or using plumbers tape?
Hello, having been in plumbing and also having worked in the USA, The Bahamas and lots of UK plumbing there is definitely no need for the additional nut as it really serves no purpose
As the vertical elbow only serves as an overflow, you would have made it easier for yourself if you left the joint dry. I would have used a flexible pipe connector instead of the slip joint but appreciate they are a lot more expensive in France than the UK and not always available in local DIY stores.
Bravo pour le travail !
Beautiful renovation! Where in France??????
I am in the Haute Vienne area of France
That roof looks a bit iffy.😮
Love your videos 😊. The volume on this one was kinda low 😐
Thanks for the. nice comments
Beautiful work, you are dedicated.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy my future videos too
22:30 Lovely cat, and great job btw.👍🏻
Thanks and I now have two cats, my dog and 4 geese
excelente
Do you have to grout the floor? What are you mixing up for the pointing on the walls?
Hello and yes I need to grout the tomette tiled floor and for the pointing I am using traditional lime mortar mixed at a ratio of 3 to 1 lime
The last few days I’ve watched all your videos. Well done you it’s looking amazing and I’m looking forwards to the next Keep smiling and sweat it out. Love the attitude
Hello and thank you for watching my videos and I hope you enjoy all the new videos to come in due course as things progress
🔥🔥🔥♥️😊🇧🇪
Durch die vielen Steine wirkt der Raum sehr unruhig. Mein Fall ist das nicht...muss es ja auch nicht!
Lovely houses
Thank you! 😊
Were are you ????
I live in the Haute Vienne area of France
Mooi...echt prachtig👌👍...from Nederland 😊
É isso aí! Fantástico🤝🏻👍🏻
I have undertook the same process and it wasn’t an easy task. Listen pointing the bricks after showcasing the roughness Of the character of the bricks. Good job mister.
The Stonework is beautiful if you take the time to clean it and repoint all the joints with Lime Mortar. Removing the decayed moisture retentive old plaster and pointing makes the house drier and more beautiful filled with old character and well worth the effort
Beautiful ❤
Thank you and please keep watching
Excellent work. Ignore these back seat drivers
Thank you and I have been in construction too long to pay any attention to them and once again Thanks and keep watching
❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👍
Beautiful! The antique tiles look like they have been there for 200 years
Yeah that was the general idea to remove them from one part of the building and reclaim as many as possible to create another beautiful floor that didn’t look modern when completed
Worst done
Beautiful, but worried about your dog breathing in all that dust.
Dusty work
Wow. 20 minutes into the video and after incredibly repetitive stonework we really get to see the tiles….😂
Yeah it’s very repetitive especially working on your own and hard work. Thanks for the compliment and please keep watching
What a hell of a job, and what an awesome result!
