HOW TO Bring Plants INDOORS for WINTER
Does my orchard need sunlight daily?
How do orchids in the wild cut off their blooms so they can reproduce new blooms??? 😅😅😅😅😅
deer munchies
If they are in their natural habitat, no exposure to anything, they just grow and bloom on their own, according to their natural cycle. But since they are pluck out of their natural habitat, and created a fake habitat for them, they follow what we do to them, but sometimes they resist, so they die, they don't bloom.
Brilliant I will start cutting. One of my plants seems weak at the main stem near the soil why is that.❤
I generally keep my pansies going throughout the summer . We live in central NYS and the pansies generally survive the winter and continue to grow in the spring despite the fact that they are annuals. Why do the Pansies get so long and leggy? Is there a way to prevent this?
Thank you❤ I got 3 and my first one my dad planted in the garden n killed I was like nooo ☹️ now they’re doin well but my dad put these in full sun n burned the leaves. He’s killin my plants🤦♀️ now ones dominating but two have stopped blooming for a month now n I was worried
I’m very impressed with your breadth of knowledge, your self assured speech, and your commitment to staying on topic. This video seems like it wasn’t scripted - whether or not that is true, you did a great job of getting across the point you intended to. I for one learned everything I was looking for,(and more!) so thank you for sharing your expertise, Frankie!
New subscriber & very inexperienced phal orchid lover. Been at it since early April …. Man do I have some stories!! 😄 thx for ur videos!
Amazing voice! Thank you for the video!
Great job. Im impressed 👏
My leaves turned yellow and came off root is it dead
Check if there's live root left and if you have stem rot. If you got that stage you probably have to look a guide on how to care for a plant. From the right material, container, fertilizer etc
I exactly did as you described. It develops leaves and air roots, but it has not bloomed in six years...
Another important thing is it needs the temperature difference like 72 during the day and 65 at night. That’s is the reason why they usually start getting new spikes during spring and fall. Hope this can help.
@@bonniema6644 Thanks for the tip! Temperature drop during the night is often much less here ..
Even though the temperature drops in my area, my plants live inside, so I have to turn the furnace down at night. 💖🌞🌵😷
your moving the camera around way too much made me dizzy.
Does it matter what type of tea (black tea, green tea, chamomile, chai) you seep your orchid in?
Question: My mini orchid is blooming like crazy, but some of the under leaves are yellowing. I keep my orchid out on my north east facing balcony where it gets a few hours of direct morning sunlight in Southern California. Any suggestions?
Will it fall on its own
Our bloomed also after 10 years! It’s so cool it opens up at night and smells wonderful! What do we do though, do we cut it? Can we grow it through its seeds? Does it leave seeds?
When I lived in Florida these were frequent outside, the best smelling plant around!! I did not know they would flower indoors, I'm going to have to get one!
Thank you so much. I see the stickiness in normal I’m so relieved.
Thank you.
Your pansy flowers are hybrid pansies
Hi! Just watching your video. Mine has flowered and just dying. What do I do with the dead spike? Do I cut it back?
My corn plant has bloomed too. The bloom is starting to die out and I don’t see your video about that. I’ve been searching how to properly prune the dead flower and when so I don’t kill the main plant. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!
I have been trying to find the answer as well. If you find out let me know!
How do you keep the leaves from turning yellow I have enough light plenty of light indirect and the leaves are still turning yellow I water as specified 10-15 days If green roots no water If silver roots water What am I doing wrong
A few things to look for: Do you have a drainage hole in the pot? While some roots are silver, are you sure that the moss/bark isn’t still wet when you water? Do you get a cold draft near the orchid? Do you see any pests or bugs on or under the plants leaves? (They can be really small)
@@frankiesforest drainage holes on all pots, I feel the bark before watering some still wet but I don’t water them, never get bugs on my orchids never have They are in constant 72 degree - 85 degree temp and I water with 70 degree water or rain water I may have too low of a light source? Half of them in a greenhouse and the others are indoor but next to a window with east side facing light no sun but still turn yellow and flower turns brownish on the tip
Not all pseudobulbs with wrinkles are diseased, you are attempting to combine 2 issues into one. Older oncidium bulbs will naturally wrinkle as they age and it is not possible to keep them looking pristine. As long as the plant is healthy and growing it is not a problem. What a thing to say - your plant looks healthy, but there is disease lurking under the surface..
It's a corn plant not a dorado.
Hey Frankie I’m sorry for been so annoying sorry for being so annoying, but I want to plant all my new plants and I have bought the following products, organic plant-tone all purpose plant food for organic gardening, then I got organic peat moss for improving heavy soils I can I use both for all of the plants except succulents?
Also can you tell me what can I use to give vitamins to my plants? What kind of fertilizer should I buy and do I need one per species or do they all work the same?
Neptune’s Fish and Seaweed fertilizer is GREAT! Highly recommend!
OMG what a beautiful garden well described I love it, but tell me something how do you take control of mosquitoes ?what do you use to repel them??
I like to eat them when they are little, my dad always kept the most tender ones for me so I could harvest them and eat them right there, the flavor is delicious.❤
Thanks Frankie
I have plenty of healthy leaves and roots, just no flower spikes.
They will come in time. Good thing the leaves can be just as stunning as the flowers! Glad to hear your’s is doing well.
put it in a light cool room near the window.
Fertilize with orchid bloomers.
I cut my two bloom stems just above the lowest node and it has not bloomed since. The plant is healthy, I have a 12" air root but no bloom stalks :(
That’s ok! The plant will bloom when it is ready. Just keep taking care of it like usual.
great video. Been thinking about using these on my deck. What sort of soil do you use and what zone do you grow in? I have struggled with pails, and my inground garden even though I have tossed tons of soil, compost, manure, fertilizers etc. so if these grow bags work better? i can stop paying $100.00 a tomato?
Hi there 👋🏻 could I ask if the problem could be sunlight? And I am in zone 7.
@@frankiesforest Thank you, Zone 5b here so its a short growing season frost to frost is about 100 days, Sunlight could be a issue. I get morning and early evening sun on some? Then the pails get more mid day sun, Which at times is very hot, That is where the tomato and peppers sit. My deck plants get mostly filtered sun light until 4pm when they get full sun until sun set. I have moved them around, changed type of plants and still struggle with some. This year especially has been tough. We took forever to reach last frost date and then we had a week of on off Frost after the date!, followed by a week of blistering heat? I should just stop and buy groceries instead, but "it's A hobby" or habit is a better word. Thanks for listening. Have a wonderful season.
So sorry you’re having this difficulty! Grow bags are great, except they dry out quicker than regular pots. So if your deck gets a lot of sun, maybe don’t put them there. But if you want to, be on top of watering. My tomatoes do great with just morning sun. Maybe try moving the pails into that section of your property.
@@frankiesforest Thank you appreciate all the advice. have a great day
What kind of tea bag
Hey Frankie !!! Question I just got an orchid the ones with the roots out and to hang them up, and is not in good conditions can you guide me to save her please?😢
Sure Angie :) You have a Vanda orchid. The first thing to do is to water it. Get a bowl or a small bucket, fill it with room temperature water, and let only the roots soak in there for 15-20 minutes. Do that twice a week. When it doesn’t have flowers, add some orchid fertilizer into the water every week. Put it in an area where it gets part sun. Full, direct sun can damage the leaves. Cut off any roots that feel like paper or are dried and shriveled. Hope that helps!
@@frankiesforest thank you I will do that
Also do you remember the hyacinth that you rescued from being thrown in the trash ? I still have them, what can I do to see if they can come back ?
You can put them in the ground or in a pot with soil lightly covering them. They should come back next spring.
@@frankiesforest 😂 thank you
wow so great that's gives you flowers, I hope mine to this time 😍😍😍
Nice and simple well informed video! Thanx ❤
Useful for deadheading but it would be great to see advice on how to cut back when they get leggy.
I have a video on that 😉 one of my firsts!
Can you leave your grow bags full of good soil over winter and then just add say fertilizer and or 5 5 4 organic mix?
Yess good info. Tysm
On my orchid I have only one droopy leaf.. the others are completely fine. I have bark but I just let the plant sit in a bucket full of water for a day or two, completely drain it and then put it back. I thought about just cutting the leaf. Do you have any idea what this could be?
That’s completely normal, especially if it is on the bottom. Orchids prioritize the health of their newest leaves. So, often their bottom leaves may not look so attractive.
I just found your page and I’m so bummed you don’t seem to be posting anymore. I really enjoy your content! So wonderful to see a young person so into gardening.
Imagine worrying about your pot full of dirt getting dirty lmao
Hey Frankie, I have some rose stems at home that seems to be budding, is it possible that new roses will bud?
Absolutely!
Hi. Can you help to review my grow bags that i am selling on Amz.
Where do you purchase you grow bags?
On Amazon. There are a million options!!
We have had ours for 30 years and it bloomed for the first time this week. We have had to cut it twice. If we pieced it back together, it would be or 30 feet in height.
Incredible!
😮
It bloomed again this year!!! I thought this wasn’t supposed to happen?
I love it this video, it will show me how to identify plants and how to care for them as well ❤
Hey Frankie good morning, I have some poinsettias that I will love to preserve fore future seasons, Can you guide me to do so please?
Sure 😊 Keep them in indirect sunlight for the winter months. Let it dry out between waterings. Then when spring comes, cut the stems back about half way so that it becomes bushy. Also, it may loose it’s leaves at some point, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. Just fertilize it and hopefully it will come back!
Thanks a lot for that I will follow your recommendations, I’ll keep you update 🙂
😘✌👍 we thank you.
