Welcome! I’m a landscape photographer from North Yorkshire, England, who has been honing his craft for 30 years. Starting out as a people photographer, I quickly found my true passion in capturing the majesty of nature and landscapes, taking me to many incredible locations around the world. My most recent trip to the Italian Dolomites left me completely in awe.
With a preference for capturing stunning shots of the Yorkshire Dales, Scotland, and the Scottish Highlands, I make sure when possible to include drone photography in my UA-cam vlogs. My camera of choice is the reliable and powerful Nikon D800, which has accompanied me on many adventures, including trips to Iceland and Africa.
My vlogs are shot using a GoPro camera with a media mod and Rode mics, and I edit my videos and images on an Apple iMac using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.Join me on my journey through the lens, and let's explore the beauty of nature together!!

Very good photography. I think that you can safely say that any channel that is genuinely about photography and not photographic gear is suffering.
Great video Mick👍. Question for you im planning a trip there next month to do some photography. Can i expect to see any snow in October?. No favourite photo as they are all good. Great back ground music.
So it really depends, 2 years ago there was heavy snow the previous year not much in October. I would suggest this year seems a little warmer for winter, so you may get a bit of snow above 500m on the peaks! One thing is for sure the weather changes quickly in Glencoe...
Thanks . I think it’s just a case of keeping an eye on the weather . Good thing about being retired.
Исключительно красивые места, и прекрасные фотографии!👍
Just found your programme I have subscribed fantastic work
Brilliant Mick, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, the 80's montage could have been me and my friends, such good times.
Beautiful. Brought back so many lovely memories
Some beautiful locations and the photographs are amazing 🙌Thanks for sharing
What a great waterfall! Cool location, your shot at 4:33 was really great!
17:20 is just an amazing shot. Hope to be there this year. Thanks for a great video.
Great shots as always.
Number 3 is the winner. That grass and sky make it.👍
Great video and great shots! I'm going back for my 4th time in a couple of weeks and I can't wait! I also used that book to research :)
Thanks John I would love to go back I think I could definitely get better shots now I know the locations. Good luck on your trip 📸👍
Definitely photo #1. That giant icicle on the far left just makes the composition for me. Great stuff Mick!
Beautiful! Thanks for taking us along.
Mick, stunning photographs. Great, what's in my bag video. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels.
Cheers Craig much appreciated 👍
Very nice 👍
Image 1 divides my attention at the bottom in two different directions. Image 2 feels like everything flows toward the right at the bottom, which feels better to me. Definitely agree that it works less well to try to fit the whole falls into a single image.
Cheers for the feedback it’s much appreciated 📸👍
Nice one buddy 🤙
Love the shots Mick and the locations and you yomping up to the cross actually made my knees hurt 🤣
lol thanks.. it was more the speed I had to put on getting up there than the distance 🤣📸🎬
Well done. I took a nice photo of the Rylstone Cross (the old one) back in the early 1980s with a twin lens Rollei. As you say it’s an exhausting climb to get to it!
1st shot for me too much sky in the second for me
Nice video. Agree that the new version is the best. Thanks.
Looking out for the character of Nidderdale; and the mood the photo can powerfully evoke. Like the final 2 shots, including your selfie; and the one at 6:30 --- i am wanting for that shot that tells me that it is Yorkshire, indeed --- with the rolling plains, stone barns, sheep, streams, even the ramblers, etc., with the cloudy Wuthering Heights which you prefer.
Nice video - will be back for more ...
Great thanks the next instalment will be out soon 👍🎬📸
Second shot is the better one Mick, enjoyed the video and another location now added to my bucket list for the year 🤣
Not sure the boats and hills work together in No.5 for me?
Thanks for the feedback 👌📸
I like both of your first images! - Megan x
Hi Mick, image at 13:56 does it for me .... Stunning ! Sort of shot I crave for ... Cheers mate !
Both #1 and #2 are beautiful, but I agree that #2 is better. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers John glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback! 📸
Having photographed Scaleber (and Janets Foss) many times, It really is pot luck getting a successful photograph. It is a trade off between the light and the amount of water. As Scaleber is generally south facing, on nice sunny days - which helps to bring out the colours, there can also be a lot of glare, of course this can be offset by the time of year and the amount of foliage on the trees but as you commented, it's also a wind trap which makes long exposures difficult. I think you've done well with the 2nd photo. Janets Foss is also another awkward one, mainly due to its popularity with 'dippers' (And I don't mean the feathered kind) Early morning or evening when its not so busy are probably the best times.
Cheers Andy ….there was a dipper and a feathered Dipper!! 😂
Hi Mick, yes 2nd pic is lovely with the autumn colours for me!
great shot a defo improvement, we really need to get out together and get some photo shooting..
_Dappled Light_ really works for me!
Thank you Mick. Beautiful shots, I appreciate your encouragement to "use what you have", we don't always need new and more equipment, you do a great job with what is in your bag.
Thank you for the interest and feedback I’m defo looking forward to my next trip out! 📸🎬
Cracking images Mick and as you said, absolutely no need to replace your camera when you and the camera are producing quality images such as these, enjoyed the video mate and will be looking forward to your next one, take care.
9:56 the lighting on the waters renders an inexplicable balm on the senses.
Just catching up and realised you were back!! Happy to see you back on here Mick 👍
All great shots but would have to vote for No 3 personally :o)
Wow wow wow, the views of Glen Coe were out of this world, absolutely stunning and you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere else in the world to beat those views. The three sisters looked triumphant, I'm hoping to go to Scotland later this year and Glen Coe was the first place on the list along with some of the Islands, Sky, Harris etc. You've made me want it more now Mick, as for my favourite image, I can't pick one, they were all beautiful in their own right, well done.
Some epic images! Good stuff.
Welcome back! Looking forward to your journeys. 👍👍
I think the 4th and the 8th photos are my favorite. This is beautiful countryside. Thanks Mick.
Very dramatic Mick makes me want to be there x
Hi mick. Just watched a few of your vids. See you shoot at F22 a bit. Are you not worried about defraction. Find images start to get soft at that f stop. What is your experience. What lenses do you use most and have you tested the sharpest f stop for your lenses ? Keep up The nice work 👍🏻
Not really no, you can adjust in Lightroom and to be honest I don’t mind a little softness on the outer edges of the frame. I find my sharpest aperture on the Nikon 24-70 is around f9. But the lens in general is superb👍
Hi Steve it depends on where you are going? Glencoe is a must and Skye is fantastic too. I do like Loch Lomond area too, but more so in the summer. I haven’t ventured to the top of the Highlands yet but it’s on my list. I also like the Cairngorms !! 📸
Going to Scotland Oct Nov this year, any photography sites you recommend?
Given the weather at the start of your vlog, I wasn't expecting too much. But somehow, you were able to make beautiful images. It is hard for me to pick a favorite.
Nice weather for ducks! Love the rainbow and waterfall pics. Drone footage was superb.
An absolutely wonderful array of images at the end there! 13:08 I think is my favorite, just so very simple and elegantly done. Wonderful! Cheers
