Fake (Counterfeit) Scotty Cameron 2018 Select Newport 2 Putter - How to tell the Difference
Переглядів 24 тис.5 років тому
Find a New Scotty Cameron Putter for an unbeatable price? Look twice to confirm that yours is authentic. I made this video hoping to I can help everyone distinguish the differences between a real and a fake, knock-off, counterfeit putter. I recently bought a brand-new Newport 2 putter from a reputable mega-giant online website but noticed there was just something different about it when I recei...
Fakes will continue to be sold & purchased because few people have a real & fake putter to do a side-by-side comparison.
you mentioned cleaning it upon removal. can you tell me how you clean the grip before reinstall?
I use mild soap and a soft brush and run it under water while scrubbing it
@ktcworld1 This is what I did. First I had a small round wire brush that would be used on a hand drill. I installed the brush on a drill bit extension by locking it in with the set screw. I then put some solvent inside the old grip and moved it back and forth to loosen the tape inside. I then manually inserted the extension into the grip to collect the tape/residue inside. After cleaning it out I then took the extension brush outside and burned off the residue so it could be used again. Worked perfect.
this was very helpful thank you!
Thanks again for posting. Some grips are worth saving. 😊
10 out of 10. Great video and editing. Love the side by side comparison and marking the videos "REAL" "FAKE" Caveat Emptor, Do your research and watch videos to learn. TYVM
Groove toward shaft?
Fantastic saved me £200 on a fake
Where can I get a fake one, asking for a friend
Mineral solvent doesn't damage the grip?
Mineral spirit has no affect on the grip. It works wonders removing the adhesive!
@@ktcworld1 thanks for the help.
Which one do you make more putts with? Who cares if it’s fake. These putters are ridiculously overpriced and overhyped.
Great technique!
Great video! I just received my 2016 Newport 2 a couple of days ago and it is real. First time buying a SC putter online from a private person.
Does the Scotty Cameron, Champions Choice, Button Baack, Fastback 5.5, have a serial number?
I ordered one off of dhgate for $70 arrived today looks awesome putts great I rather pay $70 and 3 putt than $450
$45 + for the tool, Plus mineral spirits to save a used grip? .... $10-15 bucks for a new grip? Hmmm.... can't see the sense in this unless you're re-shafting a set of new clubs.
Not sure the grip you’re using - but authentic SC Matadors can be hard to come by and can easily run to the $100 range. Especially with non-standard colors like this one.
Ty
Kitchen floor? Mineral solvent? You must be a newlywed! This would be "one of those things" that would make the list for most wives. Love the technique and Thank You for showing it. Just the same, this could be done just the same way anywhere away from the kitchen. This way you not only save the grip, you save the marriage! Great suggestion. I''ll order the tool today.
Where did you buy that colour?
It was available at the SC custom shop but had to send my putter in to get it
Thanks heaps that worked a treat
Superb comparison. I see so many people on Facebook Cameron pages with fake Cameron’s saying they paid $400 from a retailer and it’s obvious to me anyway that it’s a fake.
Thanks for sharing this great tips
FIRST thing you should have done was to dip the tool into the bottle of solvent to get it wet with solvent. This make inserting the tool into the grip Much easier. Then you can do the rest of the job the same way you described. Try out this little tip and I know you will have an easier time pulling your next grip.
Smarty pants 😂
@@LionofJudah1307 Your are welcome Frank. I've been doing pulling grips for almost 20 years and I had to learn something in all those years. Might as well share what I learned the hard way.
Am at the wind up Don 🤠
are the weights removable on the fake putter?
Real Scottys have a serial number etched about an inch below the grip on the back of the shaft The fakes don’t
Thanks. Never noticed that until now!
I will ask if this is 100% fool proof because in our pro shop we have replaced shafts in putters in which the shaft has been damaged. In example, run over by a golf cart, the replacement shafts would not have a serial number.
Good job,
Does anyone know what happens to fake Scotty Cameron's that get sent into custom shop or to get COA?... Someone told me that they won't return it and and it will be destroyed. I would prefer to get the putter back and return to the seller with proof it's fake.
Coat hanger works well also.
Great tip for golfers
I just got one online. Could I send you close ups to get your opinion?
I have been duped twice. I bought a fake Laguna and also a whole set of AP-3 irons off of ebay. Did not realize it until it was to late. I quit buying anything off of ebay and would recommend the same. It is a cheaters world. Bad thing is I paid full price for both.
I bought a fake Circle T Newport 2.5 it was almost identical in weight lettering size as the real Newport 2.5. even had a real serial number. was only 349 Yuan ($50)in China when I was working there. I have a real Newport 2.5 and be honest I can't tell the difference the real one isn't a GSS circle T but for my kind of putting game for $50 I just go with it. although Kind of sad that this happens , but it does.
That's incredibly easy with the V-Groove grip remover. Thanks for the great tip!
Stop trying to save $100 and buy from titleist direct. They hold their value anyways...in 10 years club could sell for 400 easy
where can i get a fake scotty
Possibly Amazon or eBay but it could be anywhere.
I just bought a fake report 2.5 circle T you cant even tell the difference very hard. Ill sell it to you for 100$ send me your email! ill send you photos. I work in china so Im there all the time.
Many thanks for a great video. Just ordered one on Ebay and Im a bit suspicious. Reviews show 2 others were sold as fake and those were the ones that found the fake.
Did you purchase on Amazon? Do you remember who the seller was? Concerned I may have also been duped.
Yes the seller name was Erika Parks. If you wanna send me some close-up photos I can take a look for you.
@@oneclubgolfer4063 Interesting... the one I purchased is from an Erika Armstrong. I haven't received this one yet, but got concerned when I saw some of the reviews after and saw your video. Will definitely be using your video as a compare when I receive the putter. Were you able to return and get your money back?
@@brandonh8865 I called Amazon and reported the fake. I then contacted the seller requesting for a full refund plus shipping. They had no problem with it and I received my full refund. Good luck and let me know if the one you received is real. Also, this is a new channel so please support me by subscribing. Thanks!
@@oneclubgolfer4063 eBay has become a scammers paradise. Small potatoes in comparison but I ordered a set of alignment sticks from an eBay seller who listed their location as Kentucky. Turns out it was Kentucky, China and I still haven’t received them yet! I’ve attempted to get a resolve from the seller but I can’t understand the reply. Yes, the English is that bad. A nice thing Scotty has done on HIS custom shop site is an Authenticator. Enter the serial number along with a few additional information items and it will validate the serial number as 👍 or 👎
