Very good
Cheers mate
A PIV would do the same thing but with less effort in install.
@@togsy5901 thats always an option but still requires an electrian and most likly plastering afterwards, and the mould still needed cleaning and the thermal paint was still needed, i get what your saying tho
@renovationgroup1983 it's what you're comfortable with doing i guess. A piv is straight forward to install yourself, or an hours work for a sparky. Cut the correct size hole in the the ceiling so no plastering is required. Any existing mould would still need to be cleaned regardless.
@@togsy5901 i think the tenant would of just turned it off tbh
End up letting bit more noise inside and draughts. Easier to just leave odd ones on safe lock now and then.
@@roncatton7101 the landlord wanted the damp and mould removing as quick as possible for the tenants, i felt this was the best way to get it removed
@renovationgroup1983 Thats the trouble with most of these landlords, they want the rent money but are not prepared to get to the route of problems and just get quick effectless 'non' fixes. Yes appropriate ventilation is important but will never fix a bad damp issue. Councils are one of the worst for inserting vents and useless fans in almost every room.
@roncatton7101 this has fixed the route of the problem tho mate, the route of the problem is poor ventalation so this is what ive installed, the thing to remember about damp proofing is to identify the issues, is it condensation, rising damp, pentrating, dry rot etc, this property was not ventalated at all so the building sweats and then causeds mould build up etc, its ok installing a PIV but what happens if theres a power cut that lasts a long time or what happens if the tenent just flicks the switch and turns the piv off? The way ive done this job will 100% get rid of damp problem
@@renovationgroup1983 Think we should all live in caves again..🤣🤣👍🏻
@roncatton7101 be cheaper wouldnt it 😅🤣
Did you use size?
Where's your overalls shun 😂
Cant hear feck all cut the music.
Hi mate If yer spray a big gable like that can you still hand float it or just leave it more a stippled finish ?
😅I can't believe that someone is doing the same thing as me in a country so far away. God bless you🙏 from Morocco
I can’t hear your advice because the music overpowers your voice
Great vid....what's the maximum thickness that this can this be applied please
Thanks for that, it needs to be applyied as thin as possible
Should have a plinth under bell bead
hello, what do you mean? Thanks!
Used to do this in Middlesbrough for my uncles company classic plaster moulds , could knock 20-30 lengths out a day no bother 3 moulds on the go at a time , could make 2 length of the smaller coving in 1 mix (small Georgian or regency)
I used to love making it always wanted to set up doing it but its a dieing trade on the fibous side of plastering
I have a party wall dispute where the RICS guy is allowing a flower bed to be built right up against the party wall which is double brick solid construction. Currently it sits 250mm above the probable height of the old damp course which can’t be entirely confirmed since the house is over 100 years old. I’m arguing it should be removed, any suggestions please.
Its a bit of a tough one tbh id consider taking them to court or report them to the local council
if you have to cut the render above 150 mm because mine is all the way down. do you need to put a new bell cast on the cut back render ?
It just depends if its attracting damp and if if it is then yes id do it
Can you move air vent higher if too near ground? @renovationgroup1983
hi Jason, lovely job, which drywall adhesive do you use, please? having a nightmare here, never done this before
Hi thanks for that, i use knauf dry wall mainly, what you trying to do?

Amazing I want to put a dry zone damp proof course in do i have to remove my render to do that?
No you will be ok to leave the render on
Hi pal I've had abit of rain hit few places on some walls just washed it on patches what's best way to solve this ?? Can it be touched up ot whole wall re done
Hi what type of render have you had done?
Thin coat
@@Yorkscarnivore ok you need to redo the full wall by sounds of it, if its been sprayed then you can patch it, if its been finished by hand u cant patch it up
It's not a "running" mould... you're just casting a length of cornice!

Brilliant mate thanks alot
No problem cheers
Good video in fairness. Quite surprised on the backgrounds this product can be applied. Roughly what is the working time before it starts setting?.
Cheers mate, it depends on the weather in warm conditions you might get 15-20mins working time before it sets so you have to work it a bit at a time
Wish I had seen this video before I got my house rendered,,, I'm absolutely gutted,,, they have put the roughcast on all the way down to the bottom with no bellcast
It can cause problems down the line but it can take a few years
Fell asleep watching this fuck me hes boring
Why would you not just mesh it all?
There wasnt any need to, them boards are 100% solid, thats sort of like saying why not scrim all the plaster boards up before plasterimg, it really doesnt make any difference at all really does it
@@renovationgroup1983 bollocks. Render boards should be fully meshed. Cowboys
Come back when you know what your on about haha
I see both your points but never have I seen just meshing the joints. Wonder how that would fall under the guarantee if a crack occured???

You can mate 👍👍
We put it over scratch render all the time lol one site last week, we monocouched this block, then they realised windows were well out (shit brickies as always) so we thin coated it. Why can't you use thin coat over scratch coat ay up? Lol
Thats it mate this kid doesnt know what hes on about, no point arguing with him about it, he knows best.... lol

Biggest problem is your left handed
I can learn people who are right handed and show them with my right hand
What's best in your opinion multi finish or board finish. Great video
Definatly board finish for most backgrounds its not as gritty and better for workablity
And thanks appriecate it 👍
@@renovationgroup1983 I'm just starting out can you aply one coat of multi finish and second coat it with board finish just curious because I sometimes struggle to see where I've been when second coating I'm assuming they are both different colours
You can use any finish you want to but which ever one u choose youll still need to apply a second coat to even out the suction, when applying both coats try to be consistant so youll know where u have applyed each coat and its very important tgat you flatten tge fist coat before you apply the second, ths second coat will look fresher than the first and a slightly different shade of colour, i hope that helps
@@renovationgroup1983 that's great thanx. I prefer to flatten the first coat and give it few minutes so when I do second coat it doesn't ripple because the first coat is to wet because I'm moving the first coat. Great videos. Cheers for advice. Keep videos coming
Yer don't get it in your eyes I did once, man it's horrendous.
It is bad mate init
What shade of white is this ?? I having our house rendered this week with Johnson's thin coat but haven't decided on what white go with??
Hi thinking back i think this was chalk white but you can get tons of different shades and colour matching service with johnstones
Hi I see u r using johnstones I'm using johnstones for 1st time on my next job. What's the basecoat like etc. How much water do u put in topcoat silicone. I flaot finish normally
Hi yeah its good stuff to use johnstones the basecoat is nice to use i add a bit of accelerator for this time of the year ive moved back to krend not tho as its cheaper per bag, i only put a pint of water in any more and it goes too sloppy but some people do put more in, i spray finish and float finish floating is better but more labour Intensive on large walls
Are you rubbing base coat up or flatting in with sponge
Rubbing the basecoat up with a sponge float but most of the video has been cut out as it was too long
Awesome
Cheers mate
Better to learn from a video than the hard way! Thanks
No worries mate
Great video. I don’t plaster anymore. But I used to use board finish. It trowels so much nicer. I used it on everything. Not just boardwork. I hate using multi finish. It pulls in to fast. And is a bit gritty. Board finish. All the time 😁
Thanks mate, Due to the shortages i had to get multi but i definatly use board finish over all its miles better than multi and thats right it is really gritty
@@renovationgroup1983 glad you agree. I dunno why other spreads don’t use board all the time. Great video 👍🏼
No idea i love the stuff, appriecate it mate
You should put one cup wather to new bucked and mix. Easier to put on the wall and floating mate.
I do this in summer mate, but in cold weather i tend to avoid doing it incase it freezes, it was cold when this job was done

Whats that mean mate?
I done a short course also in Neath South Wales. I would recommend it. Obviously get more experience on different jobs but it gives you the basic knowledge to start you off. I have the options of doing additional courses to go into more detail and doing different things other than skimming
Its definatly worth doing, im planning to do other courses to add on but this will take some time to set up
Great video. We used the product a couple of weeks ago but we couldn't find anywhere telling us when to plastic float the render. We learnt the hard way and part of the render went off. We managed to do it but was difficult. So on a large walk you would have someone else behind you using the plastic float, is the right? Thanks
Cheers mate when your doing big walls you need to have it set up right meaning the tubs need to be ready per lift so you can quicky move between each section or lift, you also need to be rubbing in between putting on, ideally you could do with someone else but if you no what you are doing youll be fine on your own but you need to be organised before starting and you need to be quick while doing it also to gain a bit of time you can put it on a bit thicker and that will give you a few more minutes to handle the area, try it out and youll be fine mate
Nice video. Just wish it was a bit longer.
Thanks, Theres loads more on the channel mate feel free to have a look round
That’s brilliant, that’s really interesting, we are crying out for good plasterers in hour area, this is a great idea. Good luck and god bless

@@renovationgroup1983 Sound, I'll bear that in mind, Thanks.
Can I ask Could I practice my trowel techniques by just gliding my trowel across a wall (without using any plaster) trying to keep my trowel angle consistent, or will it damage my trowel?
Hi, it would be best to have a go with plaster, it just depends on what type of wall your going to glide over with your trowel?
@@renovationgroup1983 just a reasonably flat wall which I’m gunna paint over. Iv done a bit of plastering before and I have always struggled with the consistency of keeping the trowel at the same angle when applying. So It just occurred to me why don’t I just practice that on a wall for 30 mins everyday for a week .... I know the angle it should be at when applying but I just can’t keep it consistent.
