A thriving and popular holiday resort and gateway, ruined by an uncaring IDC. What a shame! Let's hope that now the Pierhead and Kempock street have been refurbished, that it's the start of a new future for Gourock!
i was brought up in ashburn gardens from1948,i go back occasionally and what i have viewed depresses me.the council must be taken to task about this ,the people of gourock vote them in to look after THERE town if they dont do it kick them out, they appear to be pretty useless ,

That doesn't represent how Gourock really is in 2009. It has its not so nice areas but overall it's nice wee town especially compared to Greenock. Even Greenock has changed a lot over the last ten years. These pics look more like they belong to Port Glasgow imo (even if they're not).
This was a town killed by the politicians of the new world order alongside most of the Clyde area. When I lived there it was a thriving and energetic community and had many hidden corners - it was infact magical. then the death came and slowly crushed its life out and injected heroin into it just to make sure it was never going to live again. Fuckin shame if you ask me!
Most Of tht Has Been Fixed Nowadays...Like The Wee Toilets At The Gourock Primary Park Is Gettin Renovated And The Shop Besidde It Is Now An Art Store .... Gourock Is Slowly But Surely Getting Better
This is the Gourock I remember, when had the misfortune of being brought up here. First chance I got I was off. Its not that Gourock's itself is a bad place (looks good from the air at least) and has some stunning scenery, its more the people that make it such a horrible place.
