sure am glad i did this in the early 90s before everyone had cellphones, It would have ruined the whole experience with flashlights!!!!! most of the way through is so dark you cannot see your hand while touching your face. Its a face your claustrophobia moment, even for people that are not claustrophobic. 30 years later I vividly remember going in, being shocked at how short of a walk in to COMPLETE darkness. The 2 girls i was visiting with getting scared and asking to all hold hands, me nervously laughing, then gratefully taking each ones hand. I can still hear the sounds of our nervous breathing and the water running by us. It was probably 200 yards, but felt like a mile. In all my travels around 50+ countries, this remains a vivid memory. Not memorable in the way of (Vatican, Versailles, Red Square, Colosseum) but as an experience that makes an impression like first time skydiving, or first time cave river floating blindly for miles underground in Belize. or that first time up the Eiffel Tower, when you get to the second floor and you are laughing at the people freaking out with their fear of heights and they have to go back down immediately, then you get on the elevator for the summit and half way up, you start getting some fear of heights, and closer to the top you start wondering if YOU are gonna get off the elevator. In the DARK its this sort of memorable experience. with a flashlight its nothing worth remembering.

My favorite resort ever ... Royalton Punta can team including the Hideaway team is the best.
