Fruita, home of Mike the Headless Chicken story, is in the high desert climate. It gets hot here - very hot and does not cool off much at night during the summer. Winters are very mild unlike a lot of other parts of Colorado. If you like that, you'll love it here. Oh, by BTW, do check home prices as you are looking into moving here. Fruita is mecca for fat tire bicycling and trails are available all the way into Utah. Housing is a mixture of old and new. There is also a neighborhood here with several earthen Terra-Dome houses located in it. Behind the Veterans Memorial Park in town was the Fruita civic center, seat of the local government. 'Radio Station' is the fire station... Good hospital and what they don't have, you will find in Grand Junction... Been in Fruita for over 20 years...

I love this game it's actually fun I play it for hours. It's still luck the machine is programmed to pay out but it makes you think your making a educaiguess and you choose which in reality it's just like a slot machine

Montrose is a great place to be a kid, and a great place to retire. In between, it's a great central hub to amazing mountains and camping, hiking, skiing, all sorts of cool stuff. Be warned, though, there is very little opportunity if you're not a good ole' boy or a professional.

Wow..terrible room. If I'm in a room that small, it better be on a cruise ship. I've stayed in much bigger rooms on cruise ships too. This looks like a typical inside cabin that you'd see on a ship.

Sorry tina but the true grit cafe was not in the movie. The resturant was built wayblater after the film. The park was in the film and the old shack around the corner from the old firs station was Rooster Cogburns house in thebmovie.

Rather expensive at $26.75 per 1 pound box, but if any candy or toffee was worth that price, it is Enstroms. My mother started buying lots of one pound boxes for Christmas gifts, and I do too. (one family I've sent it to regards it to confectionary Crack! 😋😋😋😋😋 <<<(5 Yummy award).

So many memories. Me My mom dad (miss him bad) and my sister went to Colorado for vacation every year when I was younger. Rode the train one year , absolutely beautiful through the mountains. Wish I could get those days back. I would have appreciated it more.

Just came across this. I was raised in Vail and moved to Leadville when I married and worked for Vail Resorts. My daughter, now 21 was born in the Frisco Hospital (closed and demolished years ago). We were just talking about it last night. I now live in Idaho, hate it so much and miss Colorado so badly!

What a wonderful world it would be if everyone would work together like this team. Great job!

My family moved here from the Central Valley CA in Dec 2021 and love it! The pace of life is so different from CA. People actually greet you and wave when walking around town. We love the west slope of Colorado and specifically the Fruita/Grand Junction area. No regrets!!
