Your voice is so soothing 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you 💕
David Copperfield is one I want to read eventually but it is chunky lol. Great video and thanks so much for the tag!
@@MyMessyBookshelf yes, chunky and I want to focus on it. Also, thank you and no problem!
"2 is too many" TRUTH!! 😂Let me know when you finish David, maybe we can buddy read Demon Copperhead together! (No rush as I'm in no hurry to pick it up.)
@@noteworthyfiction yes, let’s do a buddy read. I’m thinking maybe spring is when I’ll feel like reading it
@@literarylayer Sounds good!
Happy belated booktube bday! This was a great video with some interesting insights into your channel!
@@AnaMoShoshin thank you!
Love a good unhaul!!
@@Maeve_Ever_Books same!
Welcome to the party!!! I’m over 6 months in to my own TBR Zero and it has been such a great journey so far, I wish you all the best ❤ look forward to seeing your updates
@@BinxThinx thanks so much! We’ve got this and I’ll be following your journey as well 💕
@@literarylayer hehe thank you! We’ve totally got this 🫶🏻✨📚
Looks like a great start to the project! Can relate to non fiction being longer than it needs to be hahaha. I’ve been curious about a couple of these but don’t own them physically, I think they’re on my Everand.
Love your covers of Parable of the Sewer and the Talents!!
The artist did a beautiful job!
I had some similar questions to yours when I read Recitatif. It felt more like just an exercise or challenge. After the incredible books Beloved and Bluest Eye and Song of Solomon, the story was a disappointment. Those Butler editions are gorgeous!
@@HannahsBooks definitely a disappointment. I thought that maybe I was missing something in the story based on so the positive comments I saw. Glad to see someone else agrees. Yes, I love the covers and used to have them on display!
As someone who never read AoHF but knew the plot, I found James to stand on its own. I just finished James and NOW I’m reading AoHF, and I find myself enjoying it AND wanting to read James again. Anyway you slice it, they’re both classics. I think they will be studied together for generations.
@@CurtisBowden I’d have to agree that James stands on its own and both will be studied together as classics from different perspectives
Woah I've never seen that Harry Potter cover before. Does it have any illustrations inside?
Ikr I love these covers. I recently found out about these from another UA-camr. They’re the Bloomsbury UK Signature Edition from 2010 and not illustrated on the inside.
Hellll yasssss !
Love hearing this!
Oh, I love Barbara Kingsolver! Hope the book is good :)
I hope so too! I haven’t read anything by her but The Poisonwood Bible seems to be another popular one.
And what is it about
@@NicolleeGalindo its instructions for how to live a good life and how to treat people. It’s believed to have influenced some of the writers of other books that came after it that discuss similar topics.
@@literarylayer very nice and thanks for replying ill buy this book!
What does YA stand for? I'm new to the community and have been hearing this term quite often since starting Booktubing.
@@CGRatedBooks oh I should’ve mentioned that. It means Young Adult
@literarylayer Ah!!!! Okay, oh wow like that helps our allot. Thank you.

@@Kristy.Reads.2024 thank you! happy early birthday to the little one 🩷 #mommygang
Ugh! I had a comment all written out but then lost it. Basically it said, you are my people. I do not get on booktube to see super edited videos. They are often very nice & sometimes entertaining but I'm interested in hearing people's views of reading, not 20 mins of montage of reading in different places. LOL I'm not going to make those kind & have no expectations of ever making any kind of real money here, just hopefully a few like-minded book nerd friends. :)
@@Kristy.Reads.2024 aww thank you so much Kristy! I really appreciate your kind words and for taking the time to watch my video. I will check out your channel as well
@@literarylayer I just started it. I just filmed two videos today so I have to do some quick chopping up of it since little girl decided to demand I fix the iPad twice. LOL
I need to read this book. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. William T. Vollmann has a two-volume set called Carbon Ideologies-Volume 1, No Immediate Danger; Volume 2, No Good Alternative-that struggles with precisely what you communicate in this video. He strives to understand the causes of climate change as best he can, and then he reaches a similarly horrifying conclusion: the math for how to deal with it doesn't add up, and many solutions come at a great cost to massive amounts of people throughout the world. It's not a book that connects to the Congo; instead it's another road that leads to the same position you express here, one that leaves the author himself quite forlorn and fatalistic (it's written as a letter to future generations explaining why we did not solve the problem).
@@ToReadersItMayConcern I’ve never heard of Carbon Idealogies but I will check them out. Thanks for sharing them with me. I hope that you get a chance to read Cobalt Red. I’m still feeling the aftereffects of it.
Hoopla and libby are great ways to start! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Yes to bulk recording!! I’m glad I did this for my vacation. I also just use my smart phone and my tripod. I don’t care to have more than that. Loved these tips!
@@Maeve_Ever_Books yes, bulk recording makes things so much easier and I only started it doing it last month. Thank you!

As a collector of books, I have no intention of reading all of them. I do read, but every time I get a new batch, I put aside one to read. I am developing a library. With my collection of over thousands of books, I could never read them all even if I wanted to.
Do you collect to sell them or is it just something you personally enjoy?
@@literarylayer Both. I started collecting books by and about African Americans and when I came across a book that I already had, I gave them to my daughter. Well, she had enough so I started selling at local flea markets.
We are on this journey together 🫡 I’m doing the exact same thing atm

Mr Mercedes has some pretty graphic descriptions, just as a warning. It's the first book in a trilogy and is also linked to Holly Gibney series. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what you think of it 😊
@@LizsReadingCorner- thanks for the heads up. I’ll need to check the content warnings before starting it. Some things I can handle like blood and a little violence. Others, not so much
This is a great list! And thanks for the tag, I’m definitely going to do this for my next video! Also I love Zora Neale Hurston and I have not been able to find her books apart from Their Eyes… at my favourite bookstore. I may need to just special order them because her writing style is just wonderful! Also, Blood at the Root is a ton of fun!
@@Mister_Sosotris thank you and you’re welcome! I love your channel and I’m sure that you’ll have a great list as well
I just finished reading James, and as someone who never read the original, I definitely think it stands well on its own. I had debated about reading Huckleberry first, but my requested library copy of James came in before I had the chance. I love how intelligent James was depicted in the book - it was a great read and I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. Definitely want to read more of Percival Everett.
I agree, it definitely stands well on its own. This was my first time reading Everett. Many say that his book “The Trees” is another good one.
The "Personal Librarian" is a true story. Historical Fiction.
I didn’t know that. I love historical fiction. That makes me even more interested in it.
Great buys!! I LOVE Cloud Cuckoo Land, an amazing book that should have won him the Pulitzer Prize again! The opening of If on a Winter's Night was amazing but then the book lost me. I recently hauled Passage to India as well. Fun stuff! Happy reading!
Yes! They had a good selection available. Wondering if I heard you talking about Cloud Cuckoo Land on your channel, probably! This is my first Calvino. Hope I don’t have the same experience 😕
