Thank you for putting it in simple terms like this. It’s frankly disgusting and I feel like going to college will never be worth it for me or anyone my age unless you’re doing an expensive degree that somehow guarantees a high paying job. Even then, it’s almost impossible to get jobs in your field right out of college.

5% annual income growth is an unrealistic expectation to justify home buying. Given that the market leaders (MSFT, GOOGL, GS, etc.) have all announced freezes or cuts, there is zero reason to believe people's incomes will grow, much less grow at 5%. Wage growth might happen in the lower 25% of earners, but they aren't purchasing homes anyways.
