Thanks a lot for the port 53 solution!

Awesome!
Thank you for this video guide >>>>>> I have one question. How do you know your path to connect a shared folder of a NAS through SMB??. It is necessary to have your media in your home server to include the path to a external library in Immich??
These folders are on the same server that the immich container is running. If you want to do this with files shared through SMB from another server or another computer then you would want to mount them to the server running the immich container. You can do this by setting those smb mounts in /etc/fstab of the server, have them mount into /mnt and then pass those directories to the immich container.
i just got the Duratech double box ratchet flexible head set. at $10 each in todays economy it's a good buy. mine look straight and ratchet fine so far. if one brakes at least i won't care. thanks for the video
Nice repair, I have the same problem with my ranger
That saw runs way too fast (around 3800 RPM) for that blade because it's meant to cut wood. Blade won't last very long at all. You'll need a metal cutting saw that runs at ~ 1500 RPM to go with that blade
Cutting slower will obviously increase the lifespan but these blades are rated for 5800rpm which is much higher than this worm drive runs.
2:32 ...was that oil control ring (center ring) overlapped...Obviously bent now, but that's a possible culprit. They should be butted together and upper and lower (oil control) ring gaps should be positioned at least 90 degrees away from the butt-joint. If not, being that it's the 2 middle pistons, I'd say that it was just a case of the thin lower oil control rings snuck out of ur ring compressor as you installed the cylinder.....wrestling a bank of four pistons, rings, ring compressors and an unwieldy cylinder assembly, all at the same time can definitely be tricky....wouldn't be the first time it's happened to a guy...knowuddamean??
I'm not sure, the other one doesn't overlap like that but that is something that I didn't know so it could be. I did clock all the rings, that I knew to do. I think you're probably right, I remember wresting with this for a frustratingly long time trying to get the pistons and rings to slide back into the cylinders. And I did it with cut up aluminum valley flashing material and big hose clamps which made it even more miserable... I think that's probably what happened, :(
Thanks for the tutorial, worked really well for me.
Beautiful work!!! Need to do this on my 04!
Amen about HF vs Amazon. I'm also Curious about Duratech's warranty since Duratech is owned by the same company that now owns SK tools, Shop-Vac, Sheffield, Swiss-Tech, and Arrow which are fairly big names, as well as a few other obscure brands like lista and workpro. But I wouldn't say that is being too picky, that's a pretty bad bend and it's obvious the metal is compromised at that point. A few imperfections in the finish is one thing but I wouldn't accept that set either.
Good video
Great information thanks
Keep it hooked up to the car and take out the pads and keep pumping the brakes til they come out and wiggle it the rest of the way. You’ll just get brake fluid on your hands and the ground.
the server you hosted rustdesk on was it a cloud server? or a local server? ive tried hosting the rustdesk server on a raspberri pi it works great for local lan connections. but i cant connect from out side my network... i wonder if i can use cloudfare tunnel to connect from outside my network? id be grateful for any thoughts you may have..thanks
Local server. I use a Wireguard tunnel to access my services away from home. I have my phone set to automatically connect to the tunnel when it disconnects from my home WiFi so that way I never lose access to my services. This is really the best option in my opinion... unless you actually need to serve a public with a website or services. But if it's just you and some family members that need to connect from outside the home, I would recommend using Wireguard. I do have a really old video on it you might want to check out which covers a lot of different options and DDNS which you will also need to setup to make it work reliably.
Thanks for sharing
Come to watch a second time~ thanks for a great video. It will be even better if to include a demo how the Snapraid "backup" works, say how it "captures" the data from the 3 disks and make a parity on itself.

I have seen references to the "marked loading point" of a torque wrench. Although I have not found any relevant photos, I think that this is the part of the handle where there is a gap in the knurling. It is close to the centre of the handle, but it seems that this should be the position used to apply force when calibrating or using a torque wrench.
It doesn't matter where you apply the force if your calculations are right. Applying 12lbs at 12 inches is the same as 24lbs at 6 inches. The wrench doesn't know the difference, the torque is exactly the same.
@@somedaysoon33 It does make a difference with a click style-torque wrench - this guy shows you how ua-cam.com/video/Fwfnf06dl84/v-deo.html
It does make a difference with a click style-torque wrench - this guy shows you how ua-cam.com/video/Fwfnf06dl84/v-deo.html
@@somedaysoon33 It seems that I am not allowed to post a link to another UA-cam video - so try searching for this video - "Torque wrench test! (Proof that hand position REALLY matters.) | Auto Expert John Cadogan"
@ianakagongz4573 Well, I stand corrected, learned something new today. Thanks. I didn't realize the two pivot points would make this change to the applied torque. So yeah, then we would want to know the best spot in the handle to calibrate it, have you found any other information on it? Or as long as you calibrate anywhere in the handle, it's close enough? Also, I pinned your comment, because this is good information.
fantastic explanation - thank you! I noticed that for some containers you are using docker user (1004) in the compose file and for this one, for example, you left it as tony (1000). I ran into ton of folder permissions issues when using various containers with OMV, so was wondering if you had any recommendations on when to use either user?
Good catch, it's a good idea to setup a docker user with the correct permissions needed for the various folder/file access. I started using the tony user out of laziness. It's a good idea to only give your users the access to the specific files they need, but for something like docker it's hard, because depending on what services you run, it may need access to almost all your user files. And that's where I am because I run my backup services and media services the docker user ends up getting access to pretty much everything and then it's really no different to just use my own tony user account for it. But! It still would be best practice to have the docker service use it's own user.
Amazing video and the entire playlist! So much better and more informative than many others on UA-cam. Thanks so much!
Thanks!
Im not having any luck on this unfortunately. I have a shared folder mounted which is where im storing everything. Its accessible to my PCs and such thru Samda. Id like Immich to just pickup everything in this folder. So in the .yml, i added "-/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-...../Share/Photos" and then " :/import/Photos:ro". When i launch Immich, it recognizes the path "/import/photos" when I enter it in extrenal libraries (green checkmark), but when I do a scan, nothing shows up. I have 1 image and 1 video in the shared folder, as well as a subfolder with more images, just for testing, but the external library entry says 0 assets, and which i switch over to the main Photos tab, it shows nothing. Any ideas what Iv gotten wrong? Note: im doing this thru OMV's Compose tool, so I have not followed your steps exactly. But i figured if its telling me it can see the external folder, it should be able to import from it.
Yeah this video is way to confusing and a weird way to set up Immich too
@Eikonic_ did you make it work?\
@@6713G yes, in my case I had a typo. In the yml file I'd written "import/photos", but the actual directory on disk was capitalized... "Import/Photos". I think that's all it was. I ended up fiddling with it for a while longer and eventually it worked, reading sub folders as well. Check the Immich external library documentation. That's what I looked at and it's pretty straight forward. Just make sure you type things properly

You just did the boot backwards You? Should came on from the other end
If you mean turning the boot around, I disagree, that way you have two bad seals that are awkwardly folded over. This way, at least one seal fits perfectly. If you mean the same direction but just to put it on from the other side, again no, because it's much easier pulling it over this way than having to pull it over the other way. You have more to grab onto in this direction when pulling.
I had one really jammed and pumped grease through a nipple worked great , had no airline 🛠

"I want to use Motorcraft concentrated coolant. How many liters should I use when mixing it with distilled water? The manual says the car holds 17 liters of water."؟
You mix it 50/50 with water.
@@somedaysoon33i know but i cant drain all the coolant from my car. I can drain only 8 litres
@@fahadassiry224 If your coolant is relatively clean, like in mine, then you don't need to drain or flush it all out. Just follow what I did in the video and the process in the description. I left whatever was in the block. I did run and drain a couple times which mixes and dilutes each time, but yeah, I'm not going to care about the extra left in the block unless the coolant looks dirty. If it's dirty then I would spend more time to really flush it out. And use the cleaner. And a flush kit and flush it multiple times until it looks clean.
When I completely flush a system that I can't get all the coolant out of the block, I flush it through with water until I know that everything in the system is just water, then I drain it. The first time I drained it, I took note of how much coolant came out, then the second time, I do the same. I subtract that amount from the total system capacity, then add that much concentrated coolant. If it still needs more, I add a 50/50 mix to top it off.
Hey brother once again, thank you for sharing this amazing project. I totally copy it :D Do you have any suggestion for an application that can check for duplicates? It should be check the files on the server and alert us regarding it. Thank you so much in advanced.

does mergerFS boost read/write performance if you let it distribute small files across your drives when free space changes?
Good question. No, it will not boost performance like some RAID configs. It will work at the speed of the individual drives. Thanks for watching.
First of all thank you very very much for your tutorials, they are a huge help! I have my 4 4TB SSD drives in my Pi5 radxa penta to hat setup. I'm gonna use my setup mainly for multimedia (movies and music) bulk storage. The OMV mergerfs, SnapRAID plugins are installed, I've also installed the miniDLNA plugin, Is this a good option to stream my stored music to my DLNA-enabled equipment? I have a Nvidea shield TV pro with Kodi installed as my media player and I'm using HIFI cast to stream my music to my AV receiver. Now it comes to properly configuring OMV. Which filesystem is best suited for my needs: BTRFS or EXT4? Raid 0 or single Raid is fine for me. 3 drives for bulk storage and 1 drive as a parity drive, 12 TB of bulk storage is more than enough. If you have any pointers or other tutorials that I can use, please do share. Cheers Erdinç
Nice! I don't use DLNA so I can't comment on it; I only use Samba shares to my Kodi clients. The downside with that is there is no transcoding, but on LAN that isn't a problem. It's really only a problem if you want to stream over WAN because then based on connection speeds it may require transcoding. Jellyfin is an extremely popular solution. For streaming music I use Airsonic and then on my phone the Ultrasonic client. Airsonic uses the Subsonic API so there are a lot of mobile and web clients for it. Another good option is mpd if you want to have a central music controller and speakers wired throughout your home. I've thought about doing it, but I found that I'm happy with just using bluetooth from my phone to my various speakers for now. As far as your drive config is concerned, I would prioritize a proper backup system over some type of RAID. RAID is not a backup... it's solves for uptime, not for backups. It solves for when a drive fails, you can keep running. Yeah, it provides redundancy for drive failure, but it's not properly backing up data. If you accidentally delete a file, that deletion is synced across all the drives, and there is no way to get it back... whereas a proper backup system will give you a way to restore those deleted files. So I would figure out how big you want your data pool, and then have a separate drive or pool just for backups and use a proper backup system like borg or restic. Or if you go with btrfs or zfs then you can take snapshots and send them to the seperate backup drive or pool. But one way or another, you should have a proper backup system. With that in place, then you can consider if you want or need some type of drive parity. And if you do then you can do that with btrfs, zfs, or even something like snapraid.
@@somedaysoon33 I have my old 6TB NAS ( Lacie NetworkSpaceMax) and 2 x 2TB external HD that I plan to use as backup/sync my media files. So backup in case of failure is covered I think. So you use Samba instead of DLNA, gonna dive in that matter also. Yes I want a central music controller with wired speakers, especially for my FLAC music files. I've played around with dsf music files (200MB for one track) :-) The sound is amazing, 200MB size of 1 track is a bit too much and a very hard to find a decent player for that kind of files. With my old NAS there was no option to install apps or media servers so I never got into Jellyfin, plex server and all the other stuff you've mentioned. I went with btrfs as file system. When I try to send a movie file 20 GB, the transfer speed wired or wifi is very very slow 5mb/s. I have several laptops and desktops, my shared folder is visible on all of them but only accessible on 1 laptop? I think the best thing to do for me is install TeamViewer and give you access :-) I'll dive into all the things you've mentioned above. Thank you so much for taking your time and reply with a decent answer to my question! You Rule!
@@erdincify Yeah that is slow! It could be either the drives writing slowly or your network is slow. You can test your network throughput between any machine and the server with a tool called iperf. If you have gigabit networking then you should be able to pull like 800-1000Mbps. You can test the drives with a tool like dd, but I would recommend searching for something like, "test drive performance from linux terminal" to get you the instructions.

Yeah, this video was created with OMV 6 and it has changed in OMV 7. I heard this from another commenter too, and I haven't upgraded yet, but they also mentioned that an array needs to be setup now.
Just came here to say the same thing, shame this wasn't covered or a new video hasn't been created to cover this step :(
great series, thanks so much for this
Weirdly, I do not get the "external path" field in immich... any idea if this is due to an update since then? don't know how to get all my photos in otherwise.
Yeah, they changed it in more recent versions, it's no longer under the "Users" options. After you click into "Administration" you should see "External Libraries" in that left menu though, do you see that?
@somedaysoon33 thanks a lot for the follow up! Figured it out as a newb :D for others: in truenas you have to add external storage, as a mount path select anything you like, e.g. /xyz and select the folder you want to add/parent folder. Then in immich under external libraries enter the path /xyz or /xyz/daughterfolder and everything should work
Thank you so much for this series. I have learnt so much already. I just had a thought - is it a good idea to stop docker containers when using the 'update' command, then start them up afterwards?
Very happy to hear this, :). For system updates I don't take down the docker containers. If the docker-ce package needs to get updated, the update process will take down the service and start it back up automatically. On rare occasions I've had to reboot the system, but 9/10 it just works.
this is the best long ratchets ive ever got for 50 bucks lol. not spending 1000 on a strap on set lol. ive had them for 2 years. 0 issues so far. non of mine are bent or have issues. i have lots of strap on and mac tools. but again. im not getting sucked into spending 1000 bucks on a stupid wrench lol
This isn't uncommon for Duratech... others in the comments here have seen the same and I have even watched other videos of people with these wrenches and you can see they are bent, but the people don't realize it. Gearwrench set is much better and doesn't have skips. Gearwrench also has a better warranty process. If you are happy with them, that's cool, but they sent me garbage and never responded to warranty them... which is quite indicative, and confirmation of what I've heard others say is a horrible warranty process.
@@somedaysoon33 I'm actually looking at the 12 peace gear wrench 120xp set myself. Like the flex head stuff
@@lindseyhunt1090garageb Ooohh, nice!
Riding around with a broken clutch cable for 3 weeks while waiting for a replacement to arrive (and yes, I deserved that for buying a Kawasaki 2-stroke in Canada that wasn't legal to import) is how I learned to balance a bike at a dead stop while keeping it in gear with light throttle applied and the front brake engage. I've even sat like that in heavy traffic going uphill.
Mate, your videos are excellent. I’m not new to self hosting and already have a lot of services set up but it’s interesting to see other people’s organisation and take on it. Keen for the arr suite vid. Keep it up! 👍🏽
Thanks you! Arr suite in the pipeline!
Thank you!
I'm replacing the whole shaft since its boot has been destroyed for a long time and I'm in a very dusty environment, but this video will be very helpful. If anyone else needs the whole assembly, RockAuto has it for $170 U.S. Remember to always put a 5% discount code into the "Who referred you?" field, saves a bunch over time.
This is amazing work, thank you very much 🙏. As I finished this guide, I realised one of my drives was "BAD" in the S.M.A.R.T. check :(. Do you have a link to a guide/video on how to swap out a hard drive without losing data? I technically have nothing on it so won't be too upset if I break something, but it's a good opportunity to learn! I have 3x data drives (2tb (dead), 1tb, 1tb), and 1x parity drive (2tb). Planning to get a 3tb drive instead of the dead one. I assume I'd need to make sure any content is merged, then I can just pull out the affected drive, plug a new one in its place and ?change its mount so that the system thinks it's the same drive? But then my 3tb would be bigger than my parity. I'm a little lost 😅
Check this: www.snapraid.it/manual#4.4 You'll be after the information under section 4.4 Recovering. It's pretty straight forward, basically you change the config to point to the new drive instead, run snapraid fix and check and sync. But give that a read through in case I missed anything. And yeah, you want your parity to be equal the size of your largest data drive. Realistically, if you don't fill your data drives to max capacity you should be fine, but I would still recommend trying to keep your parity drive equal or larger than your biggest data drive.
Thank you for making this easy to understand
It’s not BENT!! It’s OFFSET!
This was a great video, really clarified how these work and how relatively easy it is to setup.
Finally someone is made Paperless walktrough and not docker installation which is basic and simple and easy to earn "views"...
