I never thought I would disagree with somebody like Charles spurgeon but he's wrong. Receiving the holy ghost is a separate act of grace that you can only have once you have been saved. Hold on to say, " Laid hands on them And prayed for them to receive the holy ghost and they spoke with other tongues. The doctrine of The baptism in the holy ghost as well as other doctrinal points Had vanished once Constantine turned Christianity into a state religion And on through the dark ages. The Azusa street revival Renewed The doctrine of the baptism of the holy ghost. Pentecostalism has become the largest growing Part of Christianity for years now.

I’ve never heard of preacher like this guy. He lived in the 1800s. Though his words are from, let’s call it, the 1800s with their particular vernacular, this message rings, true, and clear and specific and heartwarming and piercing. In other words, he preaches the word of God. Timeless. Boundless. Eternal.

I love Charles Spurgeon but this has caused a fear that God doesnt hear my prayers, my thoughts , my devotions maybe be all in vain as I suffer with doubts at times and lack of faith which I don't want ..this has been torment and sadly feel worse now.😢😢😢

And to think that some people who have the TRUTH venerate this man. This man spewed philosophy, not the word of God. Read the book of Acts people. It tells you how to get the Holy Ghost and actually shows that all the New Testament saints got it the same and only way you can get it. Sheesh!

Because its not in our fallen nature to trust in God. Thats why we need the holy spirit to teach us. . no one trusts in God perfectly. He pieth us like a father pitys his son. @stephenwan has the right approach to understanding verse. He says "food for thought", and may this add to that sentiment. I am in my golden years and have little concerned myself with the Word of God until about 5 years ago. It seems from reading comments there are many poorly informed of what the Word of God says and what the significance on a personal and societal level is and how the teaching should and could be applied. The Gospel of Mark 14:3-9 is a passage which may be worth considering in this respect. At the 9th verse Jesus states that this 'anonymous' woman should be memorialized where the gospel is taught. Are those who are teaching the gospel doing so? I have yet to hear mention of this woman and have listened to possibly some 500+ sermons, or maybe about ten to twelve years worth of Sundays. My opinion is that Spurgeon would say she should be mentioned and it is possible that he would have mentioned her but like the nation that God is still waiting for the scales to fall from their eyes, Spurgeon may have also been blinded regarding this woman and may never have mentioned her even though Jesus states that she should be remembered. It seems that she was guided to anoint our savior as king of kings and Lord of lords. And those who were closest to Jesus failed to recognize this. As stephenwan commented, " food for thought".

Death is the only sure thing in life we worry about saving for retirement work endless hours do without things to save money for that day day fret ober things weeks away and no guarantee they will retire but the sure thing of death they wont worry about wont talk about as if then it wont happen death comes no matter wat we do .we ought to make sure of where we will be when we die then there will be no reason to worry the man who fears not dying is a man who fears no man or thing
