    Why did it need rebuilding mate? Will you have to add extra ties now?

    • @pgbricks911
      @pgbricks911 2 місяці тому

      The original ties were steel and they rust and pop(lift the beds a telltale sign of failing ties) so take down and rebuild drilling new ties into inner leaf then it’s all good, thanks for commenting and watching 👍

    Lots of people want boards on the wall where radiators are being fitted. The wood has two functions. 1. It stops the radiator bracket from crushing the plasterboard into the gap between the board and block when you tighten it. Without it, the bracket can twist and push through the plasterboard or just not tighten fully. 2. It helps to spread the load slightly on an aerated concrete block like Thermalite. You can get sleeved anchors that help strengthen the gap instead of wood boards but they’re not that cheap and if you plan ahead, the wood option is better in my experience. Works well for anything remotely heavy such as large window curtains, TV brackets etc.

      Thank you for comment that’s the way I have always seen and done putting boards on just think it gives better strength 👍👍

    What the hell is that ? I put batons in stud walls for radiators and use bonding behind the plaster board where radiators go on . I’ve never seen someone screw boards on behind a dot an dab wall for radiators

    • @pgbricks911
      @pgbricks911 3 місяці тому

      To be fair mate I was working in very cramped conditions which you can’t see and odd bit going in compo isn’t the end of the world can’t control where bits fly off to, most bits don’t cause a problem if a bigger bit goes in just remove it, easier thing for people to criticise without knowing the conditions, thanks for watching and hopefully you will subscribe 👍

    Where’s the insulation?

    • @pgbricks911
      @pgbricks911 4 місяці тому

      Every bricklayer has different ways, my way is put some courses on then insert insulation then add wall ties either cavity ties or in this case dog leg ties drilled in, just to stop insulation sagging and dropping on your hand while laying, this particular house didn’t have any insulation at all in house, hope that clears that up thanks

    Does the gap serve a purpose?

    • @pgbricks911
      @pgbricks911 4 місяці тому

      Leave a gap while laying bricks or blocks, if you don’t mortar in between them will make bricks/blocks bulge out not lay easily due to mortar in way, then once laid you fill gap up, I usually finish walls then go around the wall and fill the gaps up, hope that make sense and thanks for watching 😊
