Why am I just now finding this after 9 years

So unpopular take, but I think this song is actually a song of salvation. We know that a majority of TØP’s discography is centered around Tyler’s relationship with God. Christians believe in rebirth and with it, a death to the old self. “It’s time to say goodbye, to the earth and now my worthless life” seems to insinuate that the life Tyler was leading before Christ was worthless and his efforts “everything I’ve ever made” are all dead works apart from God. He still struggles, as demonstrated in the lyrics “I’ve never felt closer to you just crying as you torture me.” Surrender is painful and may even feel like torture, but it is the only way to truly know God and have that intimate relationship with Him, where we can come crying with our doubts and fears. Tyler is surrendering to God’s “splendor” as his last act as the old creation.

I think that most people think this song is about suicide, but I think there’s another meaning, that of dying to your old self when you accept Christ into your life and become a new person.
