Why I hate jetty fishing.
The wind and swell were both up so I decided not to take the boat out this morning. Instead I thought I would head to Glenelg jetty to try my luck. Previously I have done pretty well catching a feed of crabs and squid. Unfortunately there was not much action today. Maybe next time I'll try Henley beach or Brighton jetty's. Thanks for watching.

Woke up at 3am and decided to take the boat out. Ended up being a productive day with lots of squid and crabs being caught. The schools of Garfish continued to be fussy but I was happy to be out on the water in some brilliant conditions. Thanks for watching and Happy Australia day, Terry. .......... ♬ MUSIC ♬ Artist: tubebackr Track: Valhalla ............ Follow tubebackr: Soundcloud: / tubebac...

Unfortunately I haven't had much opportunity to get out lately. Work/weather/family commitments sometimes get in the way of a day out on the water. Anyway got a couple of days on the boat I put together, not too much action but it was still very pleasant on the water. I was invited by my uncle George and cousin Tim to head out from North Haven on my uncle's ex commercial fishing boat that came from Point Turton. He headed to a spot off Semaphore and there we stayed for the next few hours. 99% of what we caught was from the one spot. We had a squid on within the first 30 seconds of dropping a lure and it just continued with Garfish also coming in fast. Unfort...

    Can't believe the crackhead was still sitting in the same spot after near 3hrs, also I'm surprise you gear was still there when you got back from getting yourself a coffee. I haven't fished a metro jetty in about 20 years, if I'm not in my boat I'll fish the beach for big gar off the metro beaches or the Jetty at Pt Turton when we go away. Oh... by the way - thanks for the video 👍

      Yeah, who knows how long he was there for having a conversation with himself. I work in Rundle Mall and found a few of his friends wondering around this morning haha. I hadn't fished a jetty since 2020 but thought I would give it a go as the weather was too bad for boating. I was keeping an eye on my gear through the window while ordering my coffee and still had my "fishing utensils" in my pocket as you can never be too sure. Thanks for watching.

    Same thing at outer harbour happens on the rocks, entire rock wall to fish from for almost 1 km and some idiot has to go within 10meters of you when your clearly casting lures in 180 deg radius! 🤷🏻‍♂️ This is why I go kayak fishing nowadays….

      Yep exactly mate but I remember once on the kayak at Glenelg nth, I was anchored up with a couple of crab nets out. I kid you not a boat came right up within 10mtrs. They came that close I thought they knew me and wanted to say hello. There were three young blokes on there and one said "Hey you got anything?" I said yeah got a few. He said "Oh right" and immediately dropped anchor right there. I couldn't believe it! I just pulled up anchor and went elsewhere.

    Sorry to hear about the flipping kayak. Thanks for sharing your story though, it's a cautionary reminder to both newbie and experienced yakkers that real life situations don't always reflect how we think something will go when running through the scenarios and solutions in our minds. It's good you didn't lose any fishing gear and came out relatively unscathed. It would be a shame if you stopped kayaking altogether but I can understand if that's what you choose. Nice catch from the boat.👏

    Thanks for the content as always, I was out Seacliff on the yak on Australia Day, was quite slow only caught 6 squid. Sorry to hear about your experience on the yak, I suppose lucky it was at the barrage and not off the coast in open water, may have made it even scarier for you. Price is a great area with your kayak. I used to fish there a lot with my boat but mainly out wider for snapper and KG’s. A few tips to try. As you get towards the end of the main creek on your way out there’s a side creek that is very deep once you’re inside it. This often holds Mulloway up to 30lb or so. Big fish in a very small creek. Good Flathead are all around on the channel edges and muddy drop offs. Also as you go around that channel marker there is a huge sandbar. On an incoming tide this has lots of yellowfin whiting following the tide in. I used to pluck some razor fish for bait at low tide and then park my boat on the sandbar facing up the main creek with the incoming tide. The whiting are in the super shallow water and bite well until the tide hits the mangroves when they will enter the trees and disappear. Just keep moving shallower as the tide comes in until the fish stop biting. You could then just let the tide push you back to the ramp 😁😁 check google earth for overhead images of the areas I’ve mentioned. 👌👍

      @kayakfishingins.a4327 2 місяці тому

      Wow, thank you so much for the awesome tips. I'll have to head back there sometime but come back in with the incoming tide. It was a really interesting spot for sure.
