@6:47 I don't think it was a failure to load. If you pay attention to the dialogue window you bring up with each seemingly empty space in that particular level, you can read how the characters whose "images failed to load" seem bewildered themselves. It's like they're trying to radio in, but there's too much interference for both sides to understand what's going on each other. So they try to shout at each other, "do you read me? hello?", to no avail. Again, one of those little details that just add to the game's weird refinement.

I think what makes this game so good is that you can *tell* it was made with passion. Even if that passion is partially an excuse for the creators guro fetish, it just works.

This game seems interesting, not the whole tentacle reality bending monster but the healing system. I am one of the people who stares directly at eldritch abomination and says 'neat, you exist' then be on my way. Lastly, here is a joke for you as well as the readers. The invisible characters at the 6:43 mark is intentional; At that point in the game the Martyr's mental condition has decayed a substantial amount, her dreams/recollections of her brother now appearing as hallucinations in reality while those in reality (literally) fade, the character you're talking to at the 6:43 mark even asking "Are you okay?"

Didn't know this game existed, I don't plan on buying it because I prefer stratergy/management game. 1:05 A battle angel hmm? Reminds me of a song named 'Angel with a shotgun' Now as for my opinion on weapons degradation, I can tolerate it seeing as I have a good amount of patience. But there is a reason why game developers don't add it into their games. Sure, it makes gunplay realistic but it gets frustrating when your weapon/vehicle gets jammed/disabled multiples times during or even before seeing combat. You don't want to play a tank game only to sit there at the edge of the battlefield while getting swarmed by enemies, just because your engine broke down during transit (and if you do then greetings fellow masochist).

Mods, lots of Mods!

This game has actually been on my wishlist for a little while now, as well as the original which I found through this game. It isn't my type of game necessarily, but it definitely looks fun so I'll keep it on my wishlist!

No matter what I do, I cannot get Dawn of War Anniversary to work on my copy of Windows 11. I've installed DX9, Swapped over the graphics configs from Soulstorm to Dow 1, and even went out of my way to find obscure hex edits to make it work. And nothing.

I was a Dune 2 man, didn't get into C&C all that much and I stopped with RTS games, then DoW came along and I fell in love with the RTS genre all over again, it is so polished in every way. I didn't know much of anything about 40k when I first saw it, but I sure got into it after this. Soundtrack is awesome too, to this day Chant gives me goosebumps. The story driven nature of it really grabbed me too, which the 2 follow on games kinda did away with sadly. Always remember to Walk softly... and carry a Big Gun!

Wish this game had taken off more as an Esport than it did. Gameplay wise its objectively the best RTS out there in my opinion, or atleast up there with AoE2/4 and Starcraft. I never got to play it much in competetive multiplayer as I was just a child when it was released, and by the time I had gotten that RTS competetive spirit, I could barely find people to play with. Had so high hopes for DoW2/3, to become THAT game. Crushed dreams all of it.

You don't need the mass of mods recommended here. The first two campaigns in in Soulstorm is good, but otherwise playing vanilla is fine, especially for Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. You can zoom out the camera manually, and set 1920x1080 by modifying the text file. Backspace helpfully resets the camera. Frey seems to have his preference for low-detail games in the Total Annihilation vein.

Dawn of War 1 are the best RTSs ever. Dark Crusade is perfect, even if I miss the freedom of vanilla+WA. I like 2 alot but it's.. different, and 3 never happened. Ultimate Apocalypse & Unification filled the hole 3 left imo. DoW also ruined the Eldar for me forever. Purge them Impossible Creatures is a banger too, same game engine as DoW 1. I think Tellurian is essential for it

02:00 I would say the Driller is the Crowd Control King, while the Engineer is more of an Area Denial Specialist with his proximity mines, lure grenades and his turrets + The platfform gun which can be cahnged to have bugs avoid them. But granted the line between Crowd Control and Area Denial are quite blurry. Great Review though! Rock and Stone!

I brought it on sale on steam, I agree with most of what you said. The voice actress is a beautiful young woman yet they made Jay plain Jane, what has Ubisoft got against beautiful women. Had no crashes yet, but have fallen through the map a couple of times.

I think bought it at 35 percent off just recently. And i think it's alright, 7/10. Given the improvements it recently and the lower price. I think it has a nice visual style overall that is evocative of vintage Star Wars.

The empire strikes back is the worst star wars movie ever. Just kidding, I know next to nothing about stars wars except the time I played lego stars wars as a kid (stopped playing shortly after because it took the ways of EA of paying real money to even play the next level) and the lore video done by matpat (you will be missed).

Pretty fun game, bought it at, I think 70-75% off. The AI is kind of dumb though, one time the enemy commander just stood still while I used a single orbital fabricator to build an orbital weapons platform above it excruciatingly slowly. The commander just let the platform kill it. It could have walked out of range in a few seconds but it just stood for 2 minutes.
