The premier Irish and American folk and traditional band in Michigan

This song was made popular by the Irish folk rock group Goats Don't Shave in the early 90's.
It's a great pub song. The lyrics tell of the speaker's desire to turn County Donegal, described to be fame-less and unknown, into a gambling hub, ala Las Vegas. He speaks of walling it off from the rest of Ireland while legalizing casinos and brothels.
The Pub Runners version is an audio track recorded live on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan in September, 2024. Some of the video clips are all from the Donegal region in the north of Ireland.

Ireland is a stunning beautiful country, filled with great stories of hard, bad and good times and ways always with hope for better times ahead, sadly I have not got to see many of those places in Ireland but a few years ago I was lucky to visit Ballintuber Abbey and meet with the priest in charge who told us about the history of the abbey, I was very happy to see the restoration works that was being carried out to this fine old building which will still exist in 2,000 years time God willing
When I am finally released from my very long prison sentence I will go to Ireland and spend all my saved money in the hope of buying that beautiful Castle- Round Tower on the hill and I will live there happily for the remainder of my life, listening to music writing poetry and painting, I will bring my own Poitín, and bake my own bread
