4 Reasons I Love FRN Handles for Knives
Sir, you forgot to include the Spyderco Military 2 and the Yojumbo. Another CRKT you could have included is the M21-04G.Any knife of James Williams is a great tactical knife. The Hissatsu is still a favoritre of mine.
That thing is a monster! Cut myself tryna drop shut it one handed
“Tactical” use? If one needs to depend on a knife (any knife) for “tactical” applications things have gone horribly bad and the person involved has failed miserably on many levels. Revolvers are for “tactical” use, not knives! Preferably revolvers whose caliber starts with the number 4.
The bowie version is also nice…and ace fabric sports tape makes the handle more comfortable in the palm
The muscle memory issue is why it is best to pick one knife to carry for self defense and stick with it. Don’t switch back and forth with knives of different deployment designs. Then just carry a SAK or multitool to do most of your cutting tasks with. In my humble opinion.
In my point of view a tactical knife should be a fixed blade
I prefer semi-automatic revolver
Kinda reminds me of a bugout just not as thin. Almost the same weight though.
Lol...I guess we think alike. I have at least half of the knives you've shown. 👍
i am definitely a person who has previously been swayed by the marketing usages of various military or first responders related terms such as tactical or strategic. hahaha. but then i recently realized how overused a lot of marketing terms are. So i have mediocrely or on occasion been trying to reeducate myself on what an actual quality manufactured piece of equipment actually is, whether it’s a knife or a pew pew device or even regular tools. Like I even recently learned that craftsman tools are far from the same quality they once were. The brand got bought out when Sears went under and now whatever says Craftsman on it is like, lesser quality or something. So, thanks for the video! Pretty good video and sound quality for the size of the channel too, imo. Some smaller channels have no idea what sound mixing is or that they really must invest in a quality recording device😅
Hahaha, I loved my CS Large Luzon.... especially since you can deploy it 1 handed so easily.
The CKRT and the CJRB are really decent knives
Solid
Gimme a DLC finish all day every day 😅
I dig it
Rock solid info. Great video!
Yeah, with D2 I'd buy that. I prefer nothing less than 14c but D2 is good enough 😊
I agree with the logic you're laying down but I argue the spyderco will last much much longer, stay sharper longer, take a better edge and has a better action. Also, Work Sharp makes sharpening most higher end steels a breeze.
Is it discontinued?
No yojumbo? It was literally designed to be a tac knife by Janich?
Great choices, agree about 95% with your opinions on almost everything shown. It made me happy and I felt justified when you mentioned the CS Luzon. That beast has been my go-to for tactical carry for almost 6 years now 👍! Love it, been recommending it to all my larger friends and family. They all call it my 'Texas Pocket-Bowie'😅
My tactical favorites are CRKT Otanashi Noh Ken and the (folding) Hissatsu. From Cold Steel the ones you listed are good, but personally I prefer the Ti-Lite 6. I have both the straight/bayonet type and kriss blades - of course the former being an incredible thruster and the latter being a great slasher. My own training was based on traditional stiletto fighting so the Ti-Lite wins for me, and it has the strength, grip, fast deployment and certainly the reach making it my most carried. I also like the Spyderco Matriarch with a WiseMen karambit ring installed, though like the CS Black Talon it suffers from being extremely awkward and difficult to thrust with. If autos are legal in your area, I can also recommend the AGA Campolin Zero (stonewash + G10 version) as a very fast, very solid, upgraded and modernized “classic switchblade” style tactical knife. Even better if you can find the Plus size version. It’s rock solid and built like a tank - and I really like a proper crossguard on my defensive blades for obvious reasons. I’ll also give a shout out to my favorite “tac-tility” (dual-use/all purpose) knife of all time: the classic Benchmade 710. I carried mine almost 20 years. Sadly they’re discontinued in the original version, and now Benchmade (who are quickly becoming the H&K of the knife world) only produce a “premium” limited version of the 710 at quadruple the original price…
Great video. Love this kind of knife content, man👍
I have the D2 "Dessert Warrior" XXL Bowie. I wish it opened that fast 😂
Lovely video, so much more has been added to their lineup with blade coatings and g10 handle scales. Will be ordering a tanto soon to go along with my honey badger opener
Your choices are spot on; along with the reasoning behind them. I'm a big fan of most of them especially the Cold Steels. One that isn't mentioned, that I like, is the 6 inch Cold Steel Ti Lite with the g10 scales!
I agree with the Ti-Lite 6. I have both the standard/bayonet and krissblade types. They’re my most carried defensive knives by far - I believe the standard ones are FRN or Grivory or some other polymer and not G10 though. The “premium” one comes in aluminum scales only, and while I like the better blade steel I’d imagine the grip to be rather slick (like virtually ALL aluminum scaled knives I’ve handled) even despite the holes.
Mine was having the same stove pipe problems. I’ve learned the nut to the gas valve could come loose, causing the pressure to reduce for proper cycle. I’ve had the rubber bushing on the back of the barrel chip off causing same problems. If you warrantied thru the paperwork you got with it. Contact them and they’ll send another. Af least I hope they will because If I’d have problems Id want them to replace also. Hope it works out
Tractor Supply an Buc-ce’s carries the Mini Tac Bowie round 20ish dollars. Maybe I should get the tanto version.
I’ve been carrying my Cold Steel Counter Tac 1 a lot lately. Got it on some 425 paracord. Makes for a good neck knife and conceals nicely under a shirt. Sometimes I pack a second folder or otf and sometimes not.
The Black Talon II is ideally used in with Karambit techniques in the reverse grip. A ring mod is also available for this knife. As far as the others, I have the Espada large, Voyager XL, Tanto, Kris, and Drop Point. Did not see the Tiger Claw there, but I have that as wells as the Luzon large and Recon 1 in all three models. Really like that old school 6 in Voyager you have.
What a confusing mess. You didn't remove the paper before you did the next test so holes could be from other tests 🙈
I own a 856 ultr-lite and Its my main summer gun in a pocket holster with Hornady Critical Defense .38 Special (non +p). The “+p” really is not needed.
Always undermining a 410 with 12 gauge is pointless. You can always bring in something that's bigger and say its better. I could say 12 gauge is nothing compared to a cannon or missle launcher... The only question is will it Keel yes 410 will
Dude that's a horrible flinch!
A tactical anything would be a specialized implement for the execution of a tactic. I don't like tactical knives much, as it can be difficult to foresee what tactic you will be using when you decide to implement your knife.
That is why training is necessary. The correct response becomes automatic with proper training.
@@LonestarTaoboy no, tactics are situational, and you don't know what situation you'll be in. Anything from an attacker on top of you to a surprise fed ex package needing to be opened to a piece of wood you're gonna whittle. Training doesn't grant future sight, but it's the tool you've got so you got stuck employing the "you just need more training" tactic, on a person with far more training than you, in a situation where it doesn't belong, and now you're just gonna double or even triple down on being an idiot. A "tactical knife" means that you'll have "the wrong knife for the job." In 95% of the situations where you need a knife.
@@RemingtinArms You ok man?
very informative and real world . no need to speed a lot of money on premium knives .
I’d rather have a nice mossberg 590 that a double barrel, now a double barrel and a pistol would be a nice home defense setup. The fact is break ins are usually done by 3 or more perpetrators whom are gonna be armed. Still a double barrel shotgun is heckin based.
Found a old school large vaquero with the old school nylon holster and no pocket clip. I paid 150 for it. Vintage Cold Steel made in Japan is my kind of cool. 😎
my hunting gun is an 1887 lever action!
I have the gen5 mos with the scs mos from Holosun… great gun & optic…
Old school handle nice 👌
❤❤❤
So good.
Great quick overview of your XL Cold Steel folders. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Great review....I've owned close to 400 knives, from budget blades to premium pieces. I still have between 250 and 300, including more than a hundred Cold Steels. Point is....I have this knife and I agree it's one of the best folding knives for the price point.
stop allready its nothing new i have 3
come on this is just a knife
Except you can just carry a gun for half that size.
Thanks for the useful information.
