Actually you can tell it was painted by the overspray below the rocker panel.

There’s a good chance the car was repainted. It looks silver, not a 68 color. Check the door jam for paint code.

Dash is wrong, seats are wrong, so many things. 68 was a transition year and parts are from 67 or 69. Having said that, fenders and quarters are proper. You can now build a 4 cylinder at 200+hp and it will outperform my 68 911S mostly due to balance. It’s not a car to return to classic IMO, but an awesome hot rod that can get over $100k.

13:13 mark, voice in the background: whoever said “people don’t want a VW engine on their Porsche” didn’t sound very knowledgeable about early 912s. Except for ‘76, 912 engine were Porsche engines (356 Super). I hope that person learned a bit more about this 912 in the year since the video was made. :)

If the body is in as good shape as it appears I think it's a decent deal. But you guys dragged it on those FUCHs wheels?!!! Do you realize they're probably worth $500 ea (if they are real not repos)? As far a engines you've got many options; stock 912 4 cyl; a polo DOHC 4 cyl (made out of a 911 6 cyl) or a hot rodded 912 pushrod motor. A friend has one its as quick as my 911 E and probably handles better. Good luck with the build.
