This is my first experience doing a real VLOG and also FACE REVEAL! A few weeks ago I went to the Azores and visit this Abandoned Hotel. Shortly, this Hotel was the first 5 stars in the Azores, but in the beggining of the century the doors closed, but guards and dogs were mantained to keep the interior safe. Well, a few years ago guards stopped to go there and people just started to take everyt...

To say that "Trieste is a pure Italian city" is completely wrong. The majority may be Italian, and if you look at pizzerias and ice cream shops it may seem as "pure Italian", but it most certainly is not. The historic Slovene and Jewish minorities still endure and there are many more communities present (Serbs, Greeks, Albanians and other Balkans). Trieste is still the capital of Mitteleuropa and will always remain a frontier city, where many different communities meet and live together (sadly not always peacefully). But this is what makes Trieste different. It is an Italian city like no other.
People born there do not think they are Italian. You got it wrong!!!
Many years ago we spent a glorious day in Trieste. We went to the Castle and walked through the city afterwards.
I FATHER WAS BORN IN ISTRIA BUT MY FATHER GROW UP HE

it's called Trst not Trieste because Trst is Slovenian.

Italy has a lot of sea yet they steal it from us!

Trieste is a thron in slovenia it’s like a massive middle finger to slovenia from a country that already has enough sea as it is. Trst je naš
You can say everything you want, but Trieste is italian speaking, therefore trieste is italian.
@@Firefox-rt9ev well sud tirol is german speaking therefore it should be austrian.
@@Staniele Austria is german speaking, therefore it should be under Germany, why is is it not? Because it has a national entity on it's own, and south tyroleans make up for a special region in Italy, which would be less special if it was under Austrian control. The austrians are not reclaiming it so loudly like the slovenians are, the problem is that Trieste is italian culturally speaking. South Tyrol wasn't even brought up in the first place, I could have just answered that, since we were talking of a completely different thing. If south tyrol wantet to get back to Austria it would be ok with me tho, but it would be against their own interest, again something that would make their region less special, that's probably why they're still in Italy.
@@Staniele I forgot to mention that south tyrol is an autonomous region so it's not that the Italians are trying to suppress their culture, it's the exact opposite.
Trieste census in 1880 made by the empire: Italians 51.595, Slovenians 2817, 116 Serbo-Croatians, 69 others. It had a huge immigration in the last years of the empire (mainly slovenian) but as you can see the city is historical italian.
What a Shame! The referendum you are talking about never happened! Wasn't the Germans who discriminated Slovenian, they were discriminated against by the Italian Fascista Regime. What about the ONU resolution that recognize the "Free Territory of Trieste"?
You mean part of slovenia. 🥂
It never will be
Il 10 Febbraio è il Giorno del Ricordo
I agree with member **nothing** that the solution to the problem is google maps, but in defense of Mercator, the missing parts have to be filled in or you won't be able to find your bearing which is why ships use many smaller maps that have more detail for accurate navigation. As a new idea, Mercator was a stroke of genius. I of course have a cut-up globe I always pull out to show students where the filled-in parts are. A classroom solution is to zoom in on a Google Map to a specific location to show how those dynamics change. Regarding the Portuguese accent of the presenter, we are heavily indebted to the Portuguese who were the first to find the sea route to India in 1488.
Greenland!
Promoting division?
X me trieste non è italiana è yugoslavia
This video is very inaccurate. Although Trieste was Austrian for a long time, all the balcanic coast was culturally Italian (Venetian). The inland of the Balkans was mainly inhabited by slavic people whereas the coast was ethnically mixed (Slavic, Italian, Greek...). The Venetian dialect and culture united the different peoples, coming from diverse backgrounds. Many ethnically slavic soldiers, living in the Adriatic coast of modern day Croatia and Bosnia, fought for Italy in the First Word War. The well-know Italian author Italo Svevo, a close friend of James Joyce, was born in Trieste in 1861. His birth name Aron Hector Schmitz is self-explanatory of his Jewish-Austrian background but doesn't suggest at all Svevo' s first language and clear Italian patriotism. It is then false that during the Nazi invasion large part of the population was Jewish and Slovenian because the majority of them were catholic and Italian speaking and therefore more than happy to be Italian citizens.

First of all thank you so much for this video compulation. There are however a couple of details I would like to share with you, in case you might be interested. (1) Tuvalu actually means 'eight distinct cultures and traditions'. The island of Niulakita is settled by people from Niutao, and is under the administration of the Niutao Island Council of chiefs. So, this is why Niulakita was not considered as a stand alone island with its own distinct culture and traditions. (2) Tuvalu officially became an independent country on October 1st 1978.
Venetians. Where are the Venetians from? Italy. Who had Trieste in the past before Italy had Trieste. Venetian Republic. Where is Veneto? Italy.
Trieste asked for the protection of the Habsburgs in the 14th century to defend itself from Venice. The city has always been Austrian until the end of WW1, except in the case of brief military occupations
Trieste is Italian.
No, gorizia and trieste is Slovensko🇸🇮
This is lies. Trieste is Italy. I say this as a German. Stop crying ...
Trieste was never and is still not fucking italian. The ONLY reason why it tehnically belongs to italy is because it was promised as a bounty for italy if they backstab germans and austro-hungarians in ww1.
@@figaroo4816 You dimwit, I have spent time in Trieste and know the history. Trieste statistics: 204,849 people residing in Trieste, and out of that population about 10% are not ethnic Italian.
@@figaroo4816 You sore loser, Italy has had Trieste firmly since WW1.
@@figaroo4816 Venetians. Where are the Venetians from? Italy. Who had Trieste in the past before Italy had Trieste. Venetian Republic. Where is Veneto? Italy.
@@hinsonrodgers9033 lmao yea they stole it XD. and genocided and removed a lot of other ethnicities living there. its about 70% italian and if those italians would do a dna test most of their dna would be germanic or slavic. my grandpa thought he was italian (lived in trieste) did a dna test and found out he wasnt. most of north italians are not ethnically italian (south tyrol for example). also by your fucking logic the trieste strip should be slovenian since majority of people living on the strip outside of trieste are slovenian speakers. also dont forget that italy lost trieste in a war against yugoslavia...you know...the same war in which they backstabbed germany again?
Factually incorrect. Trieste has always been Italian and not only, but mostly Italian. As well, many parts of present day Croatia and even Slovenia are more Italian in character, architecture, language, and more. Do more research on a group of present day Italians called Venetians.
mediteranian* not italian.
@@borazd1605 Trieste is at the intersection of Latin (Italian), Slavic and Germanic cultures, but has retained a mostly Italian majority. I am English, I am neither Italian or Slavic Balkan (Former Yugoslavia) so please study history you nitwit.
@@Earth.Crafts.World.Seven.6 I completely agree with the Trieste part, so stop being scummy without a reason. However i do disagree that parts of Croatia and Slovenia are more more Italian in character than anything else. Thats just not true. Definitely Italia-influenced but, for instance, belltowers with merlon are mediteranian thing not solely Italian. Peace.
@@borazd1605 The Venetians are from present day Italy and the Venetians made Kotor in Montenegro and parts of Dalmatia look like what they are today.
@@borazd1605 Venetians are in Veneto and in Italy. What the hell is Mediterranean? The sea bonds the people together. The Venetians traded on the mediterranean sea. I am German. I love logic. You should stop while you are ahead.
