is the boat launch often shut down for low water in the spring? How about Lake Chelan Park? I was planning a April/May sailing trip 2025.

at 25 Mile Creek yes, unless they changed anything with the boat launch since I worked there, my last year there was 2021. but Lake Chelan State Park consistently has high enough water levels at the boat launch in April and May that you should be able to access it no problem. If you want more updated info you can call 509-687-3710, the rangers are always super friendly and helpful 🤠😊

has it gotten pretty bad there? I haven't been since 2021 or '22, before I left. I moved out of WA in '22. wouldn't doubt it's gotten bad, especially since it was already the most visited State Park in WA... such a shame! I used to go there regularly when I lived close by in the off seasons

For those needing a ramp, there is none. It was washed out - or rather, a landslide filled it in and there are no plans to restore it for light trailers. It's a hand launch only lake now. The rangers never told me I couldn't attemop t it, but I would be opn my own.... Still, as of August 23, the launch is cloded. I did plot a route for backing my Jeep to the edge, but unless you are fairly good at backing, it's no dice. 4x4 required for sure since the slide is all round river boulders and silt from above.

From the parking area at the top, the view point is about 50 ft maybe a little more or less. I don't live around there anymore, but I think there might have been stairs to at least one of the view points. the view spot with all the padlocks on sign, I think has less stairs than the other side, so maybe a little more accessible.

@@wanderlustvalkyrie Sounds great! I'm a total hiking/wilderness nerd - one of my hobbies is to plan out trips. I like to systematically research areas, using Alltrails, Googlemaps, etc., and come up with best campgrounds/campsites as base camps and best hikes to do from that base camp, as well as straight backpacking trips. I've probably put an inordinate amount of time into it (there's a massive Word doc and everything), but the silver lining is I have learned the geography of half the country pretty extensively just by staring at maps for so many hours hahahahaha. Since I'm in Central Oregon, Idaho is well within striking distance for feasible trips, so I have many planned across the whole state to cherry pick the very best hikes and campgrounds. Your videos are an invaluable resource, I appreciate them - for instance I got a lot out of your Diablo Lake Boat In Video that was extremely helpful - I plan to do Lake Chelan, Diablo Lake, and Ross all as Boat-In backpacking experiences. Thank you for efforts and great work!

@@wanderlustvalkyrie We have a Scandinavian theme going on. :) I'm 50% Norwegian (rest German/Swedish/Irish). Absolutely, I appreciate that, will do! My current plan is to do a kayak backpacking approach. Bring my sea kayak Pungo with backpack strapped to it, and systematically camp a couple nights at designated backcountry sites as I kayak up the lake. As I get closer to planning/doing it, I may ask your advice on best backcountry campsites up the lake if you have opinions on that. I've done some research and have some ideas but eyeballs on the ground are always superior to "internet research". :)

@@wanderlustvalkyrie I agree with that! Those fall color spectrums, particularly in this one those yellows and greens, are simply AMAZING! I have plans to systematically hike the 11 Western States, Western Canada, and Alaska, over the next decade or longer, call it a slow burn life goal methodical project. :) My favorite months to hike are definitely Sept/Oct, in fact I call from Aug 1 - Oct 15 the "Alpine Window", the magical 10 weeks or so a year where the snow has melted, the mosquitoes are gone (particularly back half), the temperatures are cooler, it's what I like to call "Alpine Heaven". I love to Yaktrax/Snowshoe/XC Ski in the snowy alpine winters as well, adventure to be had year round!

Some of my newer videos don't have great audio, if I'm out and didnt plan on making any content, but I try to equalize sound now so it's not a garbled mess haha. That's a great question, we launched from Colonial Creek Campground, and it was in October so the park/campground wasn't very busy. We parked over night without paying any fee and launched from the main boat ramp there. We didn't see any signs saying that a fee was required for overnight parking in the parking lot by the launch. It might be different during the peak season though. Off-season starts September 11th this year. Here is the main website for where we went. I recommend checking out the alerts and details there :). Hey I didn’t know you were a ranger! That’s awesome. How did you land that gig? I was a LEO previously and I’m secretly really interested in the ranger gig... REALLY interested in S&R actually since Im stoked on backcountry and have trauma medical training. I actually just got back from a trip to the enchantments above Leavenworth and there was a day hiker that got stuck on Asgard pass overnight that we assisted with. He ended up being ok but it got me thinking about how I enjoy helping in the backcountry where hikers often get in over their heads. I’ve got a video documenting that trip inbound once I get a couple others edited and released. Anyway, cheers! 🤙🏽

That's so cool. SAR would be a really fulfilling job for sure! I say go for it, if it's something that you're experienced with and would make you happy! I was limited commission in WA and ran the interpretive program at my parks in my last year there before moving to ID (I'm a ranger out here now). I miss living out there tbh. the North Cascades and Leavenworth and the natural beauty there was hard to leave. maybe one day I'll come back :D I never got a chance to really explore the Enchantments, just the outter edges. I imagine there's a lot of SAR activity out there, with how challenging the wilderness can be, especially for those that are in over their heads like you said. I'll check out your video, it sounds like an interesting trip for sure :)

Not that you can drive to. Off the lake there's FSR 5900 you can drive up right by 25 mile creek, with Snowberry Bowl Campground and other forest service road accessible campsites and spots. if you have a boat you can boat up lake (west toward Stehekin) and camp at one of the many boat-in campgrounds. You can take a ferry to some of them too, from Fields point landing or from the east part of the lake in Chelan - If you don't have a boat. the only other campground right on the lake is Lake Chelan State Park (which is usually busier than 25 Mile Creek. though tbh sometimes people cancel their sites which opens stuff up first come first serve

the boat in sites are not reservable. also on the north side if the lake is Manson, which has a couple small lakes. I think Roses Lake has a campground. you could camp there and drive a couple mins down to Lake Chelan

Nice campground, Montana is beautiful. You got to see some cool animals like Moose and a Bear. I was looking for them while in Montana past week but not didn't get lucky. I did see something brown far away on the field and thought it's a bear, but when I double checked it was a horse instead, haha

Thanks Thomas! Montana was like a dream. Eventually ill post more of our adventures in Glacier Park, Flathead, and Helena. That's a bummer you didn't get to see any bears or moose :< I hope you get to see some next time! It's incredible seeing them in person, they seem even more majestic, if thats possible haha. Wishing you some wildlife luck ✨️ on your next adventure!
