    Thanks for the timely reminder! I hit a milestone birthday last year and it’s made me think about using the “good stuff” now and not tomorrow. Good points! Thanks!

    Did you launder and machine dry the fabric first? Sometimes that takes care of the distortion. Not always! Some prints are just printed off square.

    If you die with the most fabric, that means you haven't been sewing fast enough....LOL Seriously, I have some fabrics that I am just frozen with. And I need to make something. My daughter does quilt, but not sure if she would do anything with the ones I am talking about. (Kaffe Fassett) I have moved and not settled into my sewing space quite yet...but sometimes I feel like just cut it in squares if nothing else! But this entire video...Oh, I don't even know the words. I am the world's most indecisive person you could ever meet. So many things I want to do/make but cannot choose which one.

    A question on yarn and couching. I was wondering if you ever used couching on items that will be washed a lot. I am making a series of lap robes and wheelchair lap robes for my doctor to give out to her home-bound and hospice patients. I think the extra design and texture would be nice for elderly patients. I know these items will probably be washed more frequently than a bed quilt. Do you know how couched thread holds up in the wash?

    • @pamperedpugcrafts2814
      @pamperedpugcrafts2814 2 роки тому

      I would imagine that it would depend on what you were couching. Many decorative trims are not made to be washed frequently. I think you'd have to experiment a little with what you are planning to use. Thanks!

    I had cat Laurel Burch fabric that I have had for years. Saved and saved for something special. Abbee kitty was really sick and no vet appointments for a week (Covid). There was a lady ( Gina)down the street that had alot of cats. I asked her if she would help me with Abbee and she did .Gina came a couple times a day to help. I made her a fulll size laurel burch quilt. She was very deserving and I was very happy to make it for her.🐾♥️♥️

    I began sewing as a child in the 50s. I learned to prewash and straighten fabric very early on. I remember learning to pull the fabric to straighten the print in Home Ec class. I did not start quilting until the 80s but "happy accidents" in sewing garments led me to always prewash and pull threads or rip to make sure I was on the straight of grain.

Show case those lovely fabrics...give as a gift and double your pleasure. Let's start using our fabric we've collected...favorites first. Then test your generosity and give it away!! Everything you've said in this video makes perfect sense...thanks for reminding us to share our talents as well as our treasured STASH.

    Last year I decided to cut few 2-1/2” strips from each piece in my stash. It was therapy during Covid times. Now I’ve started making 5” squares in addition & it will make it so easy to start something! No fabric is sacred. The joy is in using it.

    So you quilted the top squares separately, sewed on strips io attach squares to each other and they had WHITE fabric on the back. You did not sew any covering strips to white backing fabric. Now you added a yellow backing fabric that covered entire size of quilt project and that you quilted in ditch. Why? If you did this on a full sized quilt, you still the issue of quilting a whole quilt on a regular sewing machine.
