How to install Hall joysticks and resolve interference issues for ROG Ally?
I’m so excited for Ally X mods to start hitting the market. Are we going to get a Thermal Style back like the first Ally? I loved that back!
On the joy stick test site why is the error rate so high at the end ? Can get it much much lower on the OE sticks. Is this just how the hall effect one's work?
The high error rate when trying to hit a 45-degree angle is expected and was also intentionally designed by us.
I love it i am waiting for my order come to my house
beast. great video. ive bookmarked it in my guides folder :)
Today i got mine and they doesn't work, the left joystick has a lot of interference, also with the trigger, and with the right one too, i follow the tutorial and i can't even make the calibration in armoury crate. Hope they make a new ones that work properly!
Just ordered!
So excited for these ! ❤ huge upgrade for the ally x.
I cannot wait to do the same with my ROG Ally X. I previously had a Steam Deck OLED that was fully modded out, but I sold it to a friend of mine after purchasing the Ally X for better hardware and performance metrics. This is especially apparent when some games, but not all, in my Steam library refuse to cooperate with Linux and Proton compatibility layers.
I want to buy these im currious if like xbox ananlog capa fit these and work or any analogue cap whcoh has a grip like that
cool, can't wait to see it available on your website with shipping to europe !
I just got mine, followed the tutorial, and they work great, they fix the drifting issue on the ROG Ally 😊
I took my heat shield off. Does that matter?
The case is great. I love it because it's both functional and a cool aesthetic improvement. That said, 1) there isn't a pry tool included (this video needs to correct that), 2) the rubber bushings for the back buttons aren't mentioned in this video, 3) the black tape covering the heat pip is left on in this video... Can you upload a replacement covering this more accurately?
During calibration the joystick is static even after hitting Y to start testing. I move the sticks but nothing happens
I assume you've got it tore apart and fixed already, but that sounds like you didn't get your ribbons seated properly.
3:10 I thought these were advertised to be the same as stock. They look to have the same annoying square zones as the gulikit sticks.
why does everyone feel the need to make these with square zones ?!?
Really cool modcase far better then original idk what Asus was thinking with how lack of vents they are and how much it cover it partially/ Zero Cooling.
Ocd kicked in full force when you didnt remove the black plastic piece from the heatsink lol
After going through the installation and calibration process several times to make sure I followed all the steps correctly, my ROG Ally was awful with the left stick jumping around the screen, the right stick registering as half-presses, and generally being unplayable. I would never buy these again.
I dont understand why you speed x4 the video
I had a bit of trouble trying to get a decent calibration, my left stick wouldnt complete a full circle and would dip into the center slightly and the right stick would dip into the middle for the whole left side of the circle. My solution was %10 deadzone 75% outer deadzone. It gave me a higher error percentage but i achived full range of motion on the sticks
what about your trigger? did it effect it when pressing on causing it to move slightly
@@mickeymouze5 sorry only seeing this now , but no in games like elden ring, multi versus, hollow knight, fall guys i seen no movement at all
Will definitely buy when y’all launch the product
I have the LE OLED. Will there be an orange version of these sticks to match it? If not, would it be easy to swap the caps to keep the orange parts?
Will this have a circle gate like the Elecgear or still have a square one? I heard the circle ones are a bit more accurate but just curious! This one looks promising :)
Hey, it is very similar to the OLED stock joystick's, which is a square with round corner.
Just paid for the stiff ones. Been waiting so long for someone to do this. Hope everything goes well for you.
How are the stiff ones?
... Didn't gullikit ones existed way before too? I may be wrong, but I've seen deck oled hall effect sticks even in a country like mine! (India, where the deck itself never launched!)
From what I remember the oled model has slightly different sticks so the older ones for the LCD version doesn't work.
They launched a V3 model for the OLED version
Hey, thanks for asking. We are the first to lauch the Hall joystick tighter version: Redefining Precision for FPS Gaming on OLED. This tighter version marvel boasts a 30% increased rotational resistance of 150±40gf, setting a new standard in precision aiming control. Tailored specifically for FPS enthusiasts.
❤
You seriously monetized an installation video for your product? You should be ashamed.
Pretty disappointed in these. Having to run 20% deadzone on the left stick to clear the interference and 80% outer cutoff to get even 12% error on the right stick. Hardly the perfect circularity shown.
Perfect circularity isn't the issue the error percentage is what you want to make sure is low
@@Agenthoneydew33 I agree perfect circularity isn't necessarily required but that's what they advertise. At 90% it was awful.
calibrate the sticks first
@@no1thebos I have. They're so far off the calibration won't take
This would be so much more useful if it was normal speed.
What happen if i forget to disconnect the battery and change the sticks?
Happen to me, the ally still power up, not detecting any defect, you just need to plug it and hold the power button abit longer. i found out this 1 month ago after thinking i lost my ally due to this mistake. Last sunday i pickup just to make sure it died, suddenly it powered on, imagine the relief i felt dat moment!
Thanks
It's better than the original and looks nice, I hope there comes also a version for the front.
I got it today, after installing it I went on my balcony and it turned off, direct sunlight get somehow into the light sensor, covered it with a black tape worked.
@HandheldDIY would it be possible to send me some shielding paper as I have the kit without this thanks
The shielding paper seems to BE generally Not included
Lol.. remove the tape covering the back of the heat pipes first. That thermal pad already needs to do a lot of work for any minor cooling improvement don't make its job harder :)
Just got mine in! It's super easy to install. Very nice quality
Just got mine today and installed it. Looks pretty cool and I like the kickstand but I had some unforeseen issues. For one, my rear buttons didn't seem to depress properly. Not sure if the tolerances on the holes are off or what but I had to use a bit of sandpaper on the mounting holes to widen them out slightly. After that I was able to press them but it still didn't feel as "snappy" as the original backplate. Another issue I had was the device would no longer sit in my jsaux dock that I charge it in every night. The kickstand placement is probably gonna interfere with most docks out there. I ended up just reinstalling the stock plate and I'll hold on to this one as a backup. Didn't really get a chance to test out thermals but I would imagine they're at least slight better with the increased hole size and heat plate.
The rear button thing has been addressed as Asus have a bit of variance between the first and second releases of the Ally. The new kits (yours should have been if it was only a month or so ago) come with some small felt pads to stick to the microswitches to account for the variance. I assembled mine without the pads, and the buttons didn't click, with them and they're just fine.
@@zybch Thanks for the response. Unfortunately mine did not come with felt pads, but now that I know that works I may purchase some felt and try it myself
When i ordered mine I didn’t get any shielding paper, What kind of material should i use as an alternative?
Just got mine today from you guys, easy to install and they work great :)
My right joystick is very slow when it comes to moving the camera around in games.
I ordered 1 standard pair and 1 tighter pair. I test them as right stick. All of them drifts in different direction. I tried setting dead zone but it makes moving in circle not possible. my $50 is thrown away.
On the box how do you know which is tighter and standard? One box says ST
No, there is nothing mentioning which is which. I have to try them.
Maybe make a slower versions so backer can watch step by step.
Just slow dowm the video man
Dude. This install is so incredibly easy. You remove 6 screw. Pop the back off. Unscrew the triggers. Screw them back in. Pop the case back on. Screw it in. It takes 5 minutes.
Ordered mine and also a lot more stuff from the IndieGoGo campaign plus from the store. Full mods. I am wondering why is shielding used only on the left stick? Or it should be used on both. Hope I get them soon.
left stick causes interference with L1 and L2 buttons because of metal parts present near the hall effect joystick unlike with the R1 and R2 buttons that is far from the right hall effect joystick. so shielding is very important
Thank you very much for the reply
@@PlayItRalph Hi bro! How is your hall effect joysticks now? Have you encountered any issues?
Nice work hope it's coming along well.
This thing looks so so good. Way better than the jsaux ❤
Seems simple enough. One of the competitor translucent backplates mentions a light sensor needing to be taken care of. Is that not needed with this backplate design?
Our Modcase is designed with a dedicated cover for the light sensor, ensuring worry-free installation. No need to fret-install with confidence!
Garbage. My left stick activates with trigger pull no matter the shielding or dead zone I give it. Lies
Also right stick drifts upward
Looks fireeeeee, I want one
Will you have a version with a gasoline generator?😅
What about the front? Are you guys plan to make that one also?
8am what time zone?
