Just a dude who loves fishing & nature. Follow along on all of my fishing & wildlife adventures.
Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Canada. Most of my fishing adventures take place in Northeastern Ontario. I like to explore all bodies of water: rivers, lakes, ponds & creeks. I also like to fish for a wide variety of species: bass, walleye, pike, catfish, gar pike, mooneye, trout, crappie, perch & sunfish. I use a lot of different fishing lures & techniques. I fish from shore, jon boat and kayak. I compete in a lot of local & online tournaments. I recently bought a new aluminum jon boat and added a floor & casting deck and created a how to video which will hopefully help others with their jon boat projects. I own a Jackson Coosa FD fishing kayak.

Im subbed i ask my mom to get me one but were to broke for any of them so i couldnt get that or rlly anythig so yea thats been my Christmas
Great video. I found you video b/c I'm trying to come up with a hack for taking my fish finder to Florida for a kayak fishing trip. I have a Feel Free Lure 11.5 kayak and I'll be renting a Feel Free Moken 10 pedal drive kayak. My screen is center mount with the transducer underneath it but I wont have that option on the rental. No I just need to figure out how to mount my screen and where to put my battery.
Is this saltwater catfish
Facts! I got finned yesterday by a sail cat at the inlet, first time after countless catfish! And yup.. it was a small one w the sharpest bard I have ever felt! I didn't even know he got me until I was trying to move the hook and when he was moving my hand was 😅 hand swelled up and bled like a stuck pig. Then I got nauseous for like 30 seconds about 10 min after. I could feel the venom up on my forearm. This morning my hand is still a bit swollen but nothing bad. I used to take my hand up the back, place that dorsal between my middle and index finger and I was able to take my thumb and ring finger on the pactorals pushing them up giving me leverage and control.. I guess this one has the wolver claws. Btw are those puncture proof gloves!? Maybe I need to find some
If you break those off you cant drive a boat. They guide not deflect. I need to do my jon boat trailer but have been having good luck just driving on. Thanks for the update. My 2018 offshore boat came with grey pvc pipe over aluminum post and it does not scratch the grey gelcoat.
Good point lol! When I first added these to my trailer 3 years ago, it was because I didn't have any experience launching a boat and they really helped guide me onto the trailer. Now, same as you, I probably don't need them anymore to guide me on. The biggest benefit for me is being able to see the posts when backing the trailer down the boat launch when the boat isn't on it. With the boat on the trailer, I can see, but without the boat, I can't see my trailer because it sits pretty low. So the posts help a lot for that.
Nice big BEAVER!
Yep! You only have to get poked one time from one of those three pokey fins! Stings like a bi**h.
@@davidtalley6858 that’s for sure! Very unpleasant experience lol.

@@Connor-zb4uo That’s great to hear, nice work! That’s still the same set up I’m using and it has been great. I just bring a few frozen water bottles with me to keep the water cool during tournaments. Yep I filmed a few jon boat videos this year!

Yessir haha! My fishing season has pretty much wrapped up so I finally have time to edit. Lots of videos are on their way!
Solid video! I was looking to run scupper hole transducer, and this is exactly what i am gonna run on my jackson bite!
Thank you! I hope it works out great for you. I used this set up for 2 years without issue. However, this season I upgraded my fish finder, and the transducer was so long that this method didn’t work. So I ended up purchasing a Navarre scupper mount transducer.
cool idea

@@evictioncarpentry2628 haha yeah unfortunately that’s about the average size around here. I’ve only caught two over 10 lbs my whole life. That must be awesome catching giants! Can’t imagine what the fight must be like.
@@instaphippsyfishing You can probably get a dozen 25-30lbers on any given day here easy. But they go over 40lbs. Out west the Sturgeons are unreal. Biggest one I've got personally was approx 350lbs. Just shy of 8 feet long.
@@evictioncarpentry2628 holy crap, that is awesome! A big sturgeon is definitely a bucket list fish for me.
Very useful video. Is catfish eatable? Because you mentioned poison Thank you
@@somematters5713 thank you. Yes, catfish are edible, and the smaller ones are pretty tasty. I don’t know the full anatomy of a catfish but the venom is in the spines of the pectoral and dorsal fins. It’s not in their flesh, so it is safe to consume. Great question!
they are in wisconsin too i saw one when kayaking

Great video thanks. What bait is that?
Thanks a lot. Berkley Gulp! Nightcrawler, colour is Natural. They worked great and got just as many bites as real worms, but they rip very easily.
That foam can get waterlogged too. If you dont have air gaps it will mildew and rot from the moisture it traps.
Good to know, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I just came cross your channel that was awesome video keep them coming
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it! I have dozens of videos filmed, I just need to find the time to edit and post them. Usually throughout the fall and winter I post a lot more frequently. Thanks again for checking out my channel!
So are you preferring the kayak to the Marlon sp14?
I really like them both, but I definitely fish out of the kayak way more often. I ruptured my achilles last year and wasn’t able to use the Marlon at all, because my trolling motor is controlled by a foot pedal. This year I joined a boat tournament series, so I’ve been using the Marlon more. I actually just bought a pedestal seat for it this past weekend. So I’ll be able to fish out of it more comfortably!
Great Video! I'm on it for my boat trailer as well as the Jetski Trailer!!! Thank You!!!!!
Glad you found it helpful! It’s been 3 years, and it is still holding up great. The pool noodles are starting to crumble now, someone recommended using pipe insulation instead. Whatever that PVC conduit I used is, it doesn’t get brittle like normal PVC pipes, it has some flex to it, so even when I bump into them with my boat, they just bend out of the way. Best of luck!
i’ve done got to where i’ll pinch the barb down about halfway or more especially if im fishing for sunfish. i have difficulty’s trying to get the barb out sometimes with the smaller fish
That can be a good solution, especially if you’re practicing catch and release and want to minimize damage to the fish. I know when some people fish for trout they will either use barbless hooks are bend the barbs all the way down.
Thank you!
You’re welcome, glad you found this video helpful!
Mating, female was trying not to, but the male was pushing her, that was a love nip on her neck
A little sucker got me last night ,like he said it’s not the big ones but the small ones with sharp fins
Sorry to hear that, it’s not fun! Yeah the smaller they are, the sharper the tip of their barbs. As they age and grow, the barbs get dull.
I thought I was weird for wearing gloves I’m glad to see people do it for catfish too cause to heck with the damn needles
I probably only use gloves if it was a smaller one or very large one in the end it’s just a fish but I am not getting poked by a baby or giant fish 😭🙏
I wear gloves all the time fishing. I fish almost every day, and need to protect my hands! Occasionally someone will make a rude comment about wearing gloves, but it doesn’t matter what other people think. Just have to do what works for you!
Bro there is a spine or needle on every finn that can pierce you
How did he catch that with a rubber worm?
It’s a Berkley Gulp! Nighcrawler. They’re very scented and catfish love them. They don’t hold up very well though, usually only last 1 or 2 fish. I was also trolling it with a gold willow leaf spinner just above the hook, and catfish are really attracted to the vibration.
Do not hold like a bass they bite hard like really hard almost took my fingers off
watching this after getting barbed unhooking a little guy for my gf (she caught 6 today and made me do the dirty work lol)
Those little ones sure can be feisty, the smaller they are, the sharper the barbs. Hopefully it didn’t get you too bad. Haha yep that sounds familiar! Good luck going forward 🤞
First clip were fighters. Second clip looked like mating. Ive seen alot of snappers mating but never that kind of fighting. Good filming!
Good to know, thank you! Quite the shocking sight when you’re not expecting it.

flathead?
@@EricRobillard-b4j Channel cat, we don’t have flatheads on the Ottawa River. I caught an even bigger one last month, such a fun fight!
@@instaphippsyfishing i was asking because i catch a very big one. all black on top, looks like yours and i couldn’t believe the fight. big belly, i don’t really know the different catfish species but i know this one was different than what i got in the past. i took pictures of it, i normally don’t bother about taking pictures of catfish but this one was super aggressive and attacked my crankbait. i remember thinking i got a big musky or a giant pike 😅
Is it safe to just wear a long sleeve and gloves?
That's a great idea... any chance to get links to the items you bought?
Quick question: Do the gloves protect from getting barbed/finned from the catfish?
@@liamfarrell8478 unfortunately not really. Can help prevent a scratch from the fins, but if the contact is straight on, the fin will go right through the glove.
We are raising 5 clutches of painted turtles 😮
