    It is no surprise that it can seem larger; what I was keen to know, however, is how the screen quality compares. Does it look nicer than an OLED TV

      Watching video content on the AVP is fantastic, but I don't think the colors are as rich as watching the same content on an OLED TV. I still think the colors are fantastic and I appreciate the high resolution lenses that remove the screen door effect.

    Hello everyone! When I originally posted this video, the Amazear case was priced at $26. As of 6/7/2024 @ 9:23PM, it is listed at $40. As the price increases, the value goes down and it's hard to recommend this case unless you are already in the market for all the different accessories it includes. If you're looking for the best bang for the buck compact AVP case, then I'd have to recommend the EUCARLOS case. If the prices were closer to each other, then the Amateur case is an easy recommendation.

    Great video and good points though you can make the same argument for really any tech device. Like how many people travel with the Nintendo Switch which is bigger then the AVP? So to me it comes done to personal preference and what the travel is about... which seeing I don't go beyond 50 miles in a year travel does not apply to me. Though I do like to take my quest 3 headset out when I get my remicade infustion every 8 weeks and while it depends on wether I get sleepy or not. If not I get out my headsetand I do love it as having a needle in the arm makes it hard to use any thing but hand tracking on quest it's not an issue at all... Which for a normal appointment? I tried it twice but I just don't have time and I fear I might miss being called... But I feel I can fix both... Still thanks for sharing!

    Very nice review. This case was on my short list and I think you are correct with the price to value ratio, with the added accessories is tough to beat. It is also in the mid size category where not so bloated that it would take up unnecessary space in a back pack and it’s not so compact that there isn’t any room for the other accessories. This review pretty much cemented my choice. Thanks again!!

      Thanks for watching! I do a search on Amazon every few weeks to see if there are any new AVP cases out there and this one came up a few pages in. I really do hope more people discover it because it offers incredible value! I was a bit surprised by the poor zipper loop design, but the pros outweigh the cons by a wide margin.

    I just went to New Zealand and debated taking the AVP. I decided not to and regret it for one reason. The ability to record spacial video. I recorded spacial using the iPhone instead which is still amazing to see in the AVP but recording it with the AVP would have been so much better. We did some amazing helicopter rides, hikes and visited waterfalls all of which would be amazing to document and share with other AVP users. Also on the plane being able to work on my laptop on a massive virtual screen and watch movies is a huge bonus. Most seats now have a plug to keep it going the whole flight. I switched to the compact EUCARLOS case originally intended for Meta Quest but works great for AVP, much smaller so easier to pack and non-descriptive so less chance of being targeted for theft. There is a UA-cam review on it.

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy 28 днів тому

      Thanks for sharing your experience and use cases! I haven't experimented with it myself, but I have also heard that the spatial video recording is much better on the AVP compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Do you feel like bringing or wearing the AVP during those activities (helicopter ride, hike, waterfalls) would diminish your own experience? What are your thoughts on using a 360 camera to capture those moments instead? I showed the Spigen case in this video, but I actually used a EUCARLOS case during my airplane travel and it worked really well in terms of staying compact and discreet.

Wish they'd given the Mini some love and give it the Pro treatment, even if it doesn't have the new OLED but LCD\MiniLED or something but crucially 120hz id buy it in a heart beat, although not an excuse give it OLED apple haha.

    1. Cost - Won’t argue with ya here at all. It is pricey. 2. Limited use cases - Use cases are different from person to person. I use it for my work and personal. Yes, the internet on airplane is poor or not available at all at times. That’s why you download videos ahead of time just like when you want to watch anything on any other devices out there. Also, who wants to “dance” on the plane? Play other type of games.
And when they deem the light inside the airplane, you turn on the reading lights. That took care of it for me. 3. Too bulky - You bought the wrong case, my friend. Try something like Waterfield’s shield case for AVP. 4. Poor battery life - PLUG IT IN 5. Travel Experience - huh?

      @phoeyedtechguy Місяць тому

      2. all great points! I guess the big question is in what way does the AVP offer you a better experience for those work and personal activities (while on an airplane) compared to using a laptop or tablet? 3. I should have made it more clear in the video, but I meant I would bring some type of hardshell case on my travels. I probably wouldn't bring the spigen case because of how big it is. if you check out my eclipse video, I actually brought a hardshell case which is identical in size to the WaterField one and still felt it was a rather bulky thing to have with me. 4. not all airlines have fleet wide power outlets yet.

      @@phoeyedtechguy 2. I use it in combination with my MacBook Pro so it works as a big monitor. I turn on the environment all the way and push the monitor as far so it feels like I'm in a much bigger area to work with. With just my Macbook alone, I would have to be looking downward at my monitor which bothers my neck after using it for a while. I don't know what other people want from a VR headset but It's mainly the virtual space alone that gives me the advantage and helps me to feel relaxed and stay focused much better. I fly long hours (8-14 hours) and I spend most of my time watching videos that I downloaded at home/office unless I purchase the internet service when available. I'm too old for games but I could easily play games like Cross Castle, etc. 3. I think that's more of your personal choice unless there is a problem with softshell cases (other than when you drop it from a height). I'm fine with a softshell case since I always put it in my backpack and I just want it to stay put and scratch-free but if that doesn't work for you, maybe that's a business idea for you. :) I'm sure there can be a better and smaller factor version for sure. As you said, the AVP itself is not that big at all. 4. For major airlines, 80-90% of aircraft have power outlets (including USB ports) and 60-80% for low-cost carriers. Of course, if your plane doesn't have a power outlet, you're out of luck and won't be able to charge. However, I can't imagine those international or any long flights not having one (at least w/in my experience). If you don't have one, it is probably a shorter flight, and that 2 hours or so of battery time should cover most of your time in the air I believe.

      @@sungm2n thanks for taking the time to write your detailed reply! 2. yes, this sounds like a perfect use case for the AVP while on an airplane. aside from watching video on it, I think the sharp virtual display is another big winner for the AVP. I've even thought about creating a headless MacBook or buying one of these trays to hold just a keyboard and trackpad to use along with my AVP on trips, but the size was already coming close to a regular laptop: amzn.to/4du7uFp When I used mine on an airplane, it was for a short flight (3-4 hours) and I felt like the flight just wasn't long enough to make good use of the AVP; I could see the benefit of having the AVP on longer flights and using the environment effects for total immersion. For the short time that I tested it, it really did feel like I was somewhere else and not sitting in an airplane seat. I actually had to remind myself several times not to reach out my arms too far left and right because there were people sitting there hah.

    I’m traveling tomorrow for a week, driving 20+ hours and staying in a hotel. I’m taking my AVP to use in the hotel room at night. It is my TV. And I can read and research things on it, not sure why you included those things. I will have an A+ movie and TV experience in the hotel. I will bring the battery and charger. Now, in 2025 I will travel to Costa Rica and Africa and AVP will stay home. The internet is costly in those locations and I probably won’t have much time to use it and I would never attempt to use it on an airplane. The point is there are more than just one way to travel and AVP works on some forms of travel. It’s not that hard to figure out when it works and doesn’t, ahead of time. I did my taxes on AVP a few weeks ago. I also used it to host a Zoom session with my 75 of my students. That was a better experience than otherwise my a lot. It is up to the user to find the right application for AVP. Some things are just not going to work or will be more efficient done some other way. I don’t use an iPad for things my PC can do more efficiently. Same with AVP. One of the big things AVP will be great for will be collaboration on projects involving multiple people. This will be unmatched on ant traditional computer. AVP is just ahead of its time but developers need the time to envision ways to use it effectively. The price was intended to drive most people away who have no real need for such other than playing game or media consumption. Not sure why some seem to miss this simple point.

Until then, it's a very niche product that is intended for tech enthusiasts and enterprise use.

      @@phoeyedtechguy Of course you don't see how, because I didn't go into that on a youtube comment which typically don't get read. I didn't run Zoom on the AVP, I had my notes on AVP as a PDF displayed up close to my face so I could easily see it. then I hosted the Zoom meeting and went through my exam. I solve it by hand, so it is not typed up as they need to see the details and concepts applied as you work through the problems. Since it's engineering, it is very detailed in terms of calculations and numbers. So I talk through the solutions that I develop for them (and this is a couple of days before the exam, so they have seen all the material) and then I write out the equations (dependent on each problem) and plug in numbers. I read all of that off of AVP and just write down on the iPad which is shared with the class via zoom. there is no fumbling with paper, moving windows around, nothing. Also, a big plus, is that students don't have to sit there while I fiddle with punching in numbers on my calculator, so they can save time as more than 1 hour of this is hard to stand.
