Hoka Stinson ATR 6 Review
Переглядів 1,8 тис.3 роки тому
I love the newest edition of the Stinson ATR! (the 6) Hoka made just the right updates to make this a go-to for distance training. Great lockdown, tongue locked in place, max cushion & comfort; I'm feeling neither the shock of impact nor the weight of the shoes.
A Christmas Surprise From Hoka (and more about why I love these shoes!)

A gratitude shout out to Hoka for a pleasant Christmas surprise as I share some of my favorite Hoka models and what I use them for. From house shoes, to Goretex boots, trail racers, track spikes and more. See you at a Finish Line soon. :-)
Shoe review: Hoka Carbon X by Spartan_ireland

A review of Hoka's Carbon X, a light, responsive, max cushioned road racer. I love it, I love training in it, and I can't wait to see this shoe model come out in a trail-traction twin of itself. Awesome shoe! #timetofly #hoka #hokaoneone #ReplaceSR #OCR #Spartan #Spartanup #Spartanrace #SpartanIreland #spartanwc2020 #spartanusns #SpartanMBA

Spartan Ireland: Dreaming Bigger: Sparta & Sweden
It's crazy that this is 5 years old, and after my first Spartan Sprint today I got this obstacle first try because of this video👌
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know. AROO!
way to go! thats a great tip and will try it!
were you cramping here sir?
Actually, I think this was the year I crashed hard on rocks at the river. My right knee flesh was torn open enough for my patellar tendon to be visible & I was limping from pain, but not cramps
@@spartanireland2922 😮 didn't expect it to be much worse. Great vids btw.
I hate this obstacle, because there is too much luck involved.
Never seen such a weakling, he would have been from from the rock as a baby…
I do sideways to be safe. I practice with the other techniques in training only.
I want to see that guy behind him get through it!
Im 62 kilos but i can do pullups with 30 kgs. Will my weight be a problem?
I don't see why your weight would be a problem. I am a similar weight. The obstacle is mostly about leverage (kicking off the gate with 1 foot), and train those back & shoulder muscles
how heavy is it
It's 80-100, but sometimes it feels like 130. I recommend you train with 130 lbs (60 kilos).
I wish these training videos would tell us size and weight of the actual spear/bucket/sandbag / whatever so some could recreate it for training purposes
I made this more difficult. I just dangled my legs and climbed using the holes and mountain grips 😂 made it doe! A lot of pain on the shoulders
Spartan race....what a joke
Woah. Loving this. The veins on his body look like he eats steel rope for spaghetti.
Thank you for this! Did this strategy today and it WORKED!!!
Woohoo! So good to hear. Congrats, Spartan! AROO!
My team got stuck on this one and had to run the penalty -- thanks for the tip!
Feet high, especially when it's wet, and faster=less time increasing fatigue. You can do it!
Great advice, thanks! This should be much easier for me tomorrow. I did it the hard way laying on my back all the way up last November!
What a beast.
Sandals?! The heck, bro?
Good
Good excersize
Good job
Thanks!
Sideways is my best technique. Need to lose some weight as well
😂 I thought I was about to see Leonidas then he lets it float. I’ll start practicing my burpees.
He needs to add a Super Mario jump sound :)))
That throw looked like shit
I was expecting a more thrusting harder throw “Give It Some Feeling” Did I expect too much?
Is the truss legal?
In between segments, yes. But not the outside structure. The truss in your travel path is legit. However, on the rig, you must use the grips, not the framework above from which the holds are suspended.
I found out if you pull it continuously its much easier compared to taking the breaks. It simply moves with momentum.
I hate this one, never get it.
Probably not going to love the update, either. 😉
Thank you for this tip. I am a short female but the sideways technique is totally doable
When the next bar is far or high, swinging ALWAYS makes it possible, too. 👊
@@spartanireland2922 thank you so much
What if my feet drag?
The bars are raised enough from the ground. If you're really long-legged, raise your lower legs. Or you could try giving up, but I don't recommend that.
I noticed your thumbs were over the bar instead of under it. I think that is key to swinging on thick monkey bars.
You are so genius, less effort more efficiency
Thanks! Hopefully I'll see you out there. Going to Kelowna?
Thank you so much. I watched this video last night between 12 and 1am and applied it to my race at 11am. Nailed this obstacle plus all others.
That's awesome! Way to go Carlos!
100 millas + 11positive ok?
I’m about to do Spartan kids rn and I have never done this before- so I’m glad to watch this video and I will try my best to follow. Thanks for the video tho, was able to see the proper posture!
Have fun, crush it! Thanks for watching my video. 👊
@@spartanireland2922 I was able to get 3rd place for my overall age category! But I wasn’t able to get my medal because I joined the open category instead of the competitive category...But now that I know it, I will be sure to win back gold in my next Spartan races! 😁💪💪
I like how you were crossing over every other one. That was something I failed to consider in my last race. Your method is way faster. Thank you.
Thanks! I hope you get back out there soon!
@@spartanireland2922 Thanks!
Jo! 👍
These are my favorite but i get blister bubbles sometimes Great video!
Thanks for the tips. Did my first spartan race in Big Bear Lake last weekend and used your advice to hit my spear throw.
Great advice as find this the hardest strength wise but with this technique hopefully be easier next time 👍💪
It was much easier for me using this technique!
I am sorry you stopped making videos. Your contents are very good and helpful
Good review! Thanks for posting
Thanks Steven
What's the distance to the target? Sorry if you mentioned it, I didn't hear...
It's not uniform from event to event. It's about a 15-20 foot range.
@@spartanireland2922 and what about rules, do we have to stub a spear or just hit the target?
@@lionstartrading Spear must stay in target & not drop out (or touch the ground) before you exit the obstacle.
Great job, Spartan!
I am running my first sprint in August. Any other tips you can offer? Thanks
Awesome! Welcome to Spartan racing. Warning: high risk of being hooked on #Spartan lifestyle. Check out my other videos. In general, run speed, endurance & grip are the 3 keys to performance. I recommend long forearm/grip workouts where you continue to work those muscles after they are tired. Hanging grip, climbing, pulling, etc. The races continue to tax your grip, hand strength, endurance over and over. Don't forget to enjoy it, embrace the difficulty and know you can finish what you start. AROO!
@@spartanireland2922 Thank you. I am definitely going to work on my grip as my friend who runs them told me the same thing. I will check out your other vids. Very helpful, thanks!
I’m a beginner also and just did my first one today - for this obstacle I started the same way but since I’m a heavy guy I would use my weight to bring it down, step on the rope (opposite arm opposite foot) and repeat, hoist down, step, hoist down, step. Worked perfectly.
Good luck saturday
My first sprint, I walked fast, did not run much, did not pause at obstacles, and finished without doing any burpees. I was fit enough for running or obstacles, but not both. Walking does not cause burpees. So, learning the obstacles is more important to me.
I currently have the Adidas Ultra Speed for my shorter faster runs, and I was wondering how these compare? Any thoughts thanks in advance…
What is that target made of? And how long of a use is it before yall change it out?
Made from the fat of Persian buttcheeeks
Just the review I was looking for. Thank you
¿Cuánto pesa?
80 libra, Aporximadamente. Mas pesado cuando esta mojado
Thanks for the video. Next Sunday I will give it my best at the Spartan Super at Zandvoort in the Netherlands. Has been 2 years since my last obstaclerace.
Thank you & have a great time! I haven't had the pleasure yet of racing in the Netherlands. I will race next weekend also; Telluride, Colorado for the Ultra World Championship. Aroo!
