Welcome! I have played 40k off and on since 3rd edition and am finally making the time to play more consistently and try to make it to events! It is my goal to become a better player and bring others along with me so I'll be posting tournament reports from the events I attend, tactics videos about the things I learn, and battle reports when I try out new things.
I love to play off-meta army lists so stay tuned if you'd like to see something that's a little different. Also, please watch, like, and subscribe if this is the kind of content you enjoy! And COMMENT to tell me what you would like to see more of! Lastly, if you see me at an event, PLEASE come say hi! Thanks so much for checking out my channel!

Congrats on your LVO Run! I've played quite alot of Synpatic and was pleased to see it go 5-1. It's very strange to me, that you really don't have much synapse units in your list though. Against that sisters detachment, I'll only ever over commit to killing units to make sure they are dead, instead of allowing them to hit me back harder. The crazy sister heros doing so much damage is fairly common. Skysplinter can't be overwatched enhancement, only works coming out of a transport--the whole detachment revolves around getting bonuses from getting out of transports, shoot them, their detachment rule becomes sadness (I play DE maybe even more than nids :O ) I personally think the game has to many 4++ units, if you roll above average on it, stuff just never dies. Or if you're like me and have a maleceptor and norn and can't pass a 4++ and they just die it feels bad, I had a 8 game GT over the weekend, where I went 4-4. Lost one game cause I didn't move a unit lol and the game I went against Tau turns out he cheated--overall though was a really good event :)
I think SwarmLord needs to be Warlord to activate his ability? Btw do you have favorite weapon for TyrantGuard now? How they perform?
@@warotvasapinyokul8281 oh snap! You’re right!!! I’ll fix that in my list right away! Thank you! 🙏
@@warotvasapinyokul8281 as far as a favorite weapon loadout, I really like the Scything Talons and the Bone Cleavers. Both have performed really well for me. I fight marines often enough that the Cleavers are handy. The Crushing Claws are the first unit I’d drop if I had to choose. They just don’t have the attacks to really do much. I’ve tried them a lot and just don’t get results. None of the options do much damage though. They really just help cleanup what the Tyrant and Swarmlord miss.
Miztah Monstur sent me and I’ve been patiently awaiting this to drop! Really loved the leagues of pirate votann video as well! Keep it up brother❤
@@mattharris1217 thank you so much! Much appreciated! 🙏
Heard you were going to make a video about your time in the Vegas tournament! Looking forward to that video!
Thank you! I just posted that video!
Keep it going
It was a great game!
I hope tattoos for extra CP for life becomes a trend
great video!
Thanks very much!
Just got into the bugs as my second army :) this channel is great as I'm already looking to lean into nexus :)
Love to hear that! Thanks for the comment. I will definitely be making more videos very soon. Any specific unit or tactics video requests?
@spacebug40000 I'd love a neurotyrant/zoans videos about how best to utilise them
@ I'm planning to use a Neurotyrant with Zoans in my next list! I'll post about it for sure!
Really enjoy your breakdowns can't wait to see more!
Thanks so much! That means a lot! Will be making more soon for sure!
I cannot wait for the Nids 11th edition codex to release next year! Nid monsters look really strong/tanky finally. Love that tyrant guard and genestealers are getting love as well. Leaning towards crusher stampede but also want to run tyrant guard as well just to soak up damage plus the models look amazing. Good video 👍
Which weapon choice was the most consistent and useful?
I actually wasn't impressed with any weapon option. None of them performed particularly well. I think the Scything Talons may be the most consistent but it was nice to have the damage 2 weapons available to finish off things that the Tyrant or Swarmlord damaged but couldn't quite kill. I'll probably continue to take all 3 weapon options going forward.
@@spacebug40000 I only have 6 guard kitted with crab claws because Warhammer is expensive lol. Hearing that they're all pretty much meh makes me happy that I didn't make a bad choice that I went for aesthetics and rule of cool from last edition instead of what's best. If I ever have the urge to play 12 or 18, I'll probably do 6 of each but it's rather unlikely.
Loved the rundown. Most of my bug life has been Invasion Fleet. Cool to see you making Tyrant Guard shine. I love the list but maybe not the idea of buying 18 chunky boys. Good luck and keep em coming!
Thanks so much! And yeah, buying that many is a lot. I only had 9 originally but took apart 9 Hive Guard to make the rest. Haha.
Great vid well explained
Thank you!
For vanguard onslaught you get fall back and charge which is nice, and you can put a brick back into strategic reserves; and you can also reactive move them; finally you can show up turn 1 with a tyrant guard brick from strategic. You would also get hunting grounds which is a pretty good enhancement
Awesome insight! I do not play Vanguard Onslaught so I definitely missed that. I'll have to add it to the video description because that's really helpful info! Thanks for sharing!
@@spacebug40000no worries, I have a bit of a different way of looking at detachments, I ended up with 3 norn vanguard onslaught, just using the vanguard stuff to score and occasionally jail people. I did look at tyrant guard for a while because they’re quite cool conceptually, so it’s awesome to see them doing well here
@@Cadian9t I love that out of the box thinking! Seeing off-meta things always makes my day. How well has the triple Norn been doing for you? It sounds really cool!
Im new to nids. picked them up this summer as a hobby project and im loving playing them! Thanks for your input. The details on the strengths and weaknesses of the detachments can be co-related to other units and is very helpful. I wish a lot of success for you in this YT journey!
Thanks a lot for the comment and well wishes. Best of luck as you continue playing Tyranids! They are so much fun both in the hobby aspect as well as game play.
@@spacebug40000I just returned from an RTT winning first place for the first time ever! Somewhat different list but on the same vein. 12 guard on HT (with shock aura) and SL. 6 zoantropes with NT and enhancement. 22 neurogaunts for screening & cull the horde. Biovore, deathleaper, neurolictor. One exocrine one maleceptor. Screamer killer and psychophage. -3 on shadow literally won me the game twice. Practically stole the games.
@@Julio.C-b5b That's amazing! Congrats on the win. I've considered running the Zoanthropes with Neurotyrant. What did you like about them?
@@spacebug40000 well I don't own a Tyranofex so I initially intended them to be my anti heavy response. However, the 6++ aura helped my guards a couple of times, overwatch becomes even better with the blast profile (avg of 4 wounds on d3 dmg.) they also become a juicer target than the sl and HT so they try to circle around them and get baited. They are no slackers, that 4++ with the 6fnp from the psychophage nearby can make them last.
Congratulations! I was the Necron player, I definitely learned my lesson about Tyrannofexes and being too aggressive on turn 1 🤣 I've also been trying to practice a bit more with being snappy on movement so I don't time out again Looking forward to seeing you at more events in the future!
Hey man! Thanks for leaving a comment! It was great playing against you. That list of yours is nuts! I can't wait to see how it turns out the next time we play. Thanks again for a great game!
Did you like Synaptic Nexus? Why did you pick it over others such as Invasion fleet?
Good questions! I really liked Synaptic Nexus. I picked it over the other detachments because I felt it was the strongest option to make my Tyrant Guard tougher and this list relies on them getting their characters to their targets. Having the option to get a 5+ invulnerable save on a turn when I expose them really helps against a lot of anti-tank/monster firepower and being able to use Reinforced Hive Node makes them a lot more durable as well, both against shooting and in combat. It's really helpful. By the time the Tyrant Guard die, the characters are able to do their own damage and the Hive Tyrant and Swarmlord also often benefit from Reinforced Hive Node a lot as well.
Congrats Rueben on your GT win! Sounds like you had s9me tough games but your army was definitely up to the challenge. You are also blessed with a beautiful family. Thanks for such detailed and smart commentary on your game, the event, and the venue.
Thank you very much! I appreciate the kind words!
what do you recommend for tyrannofex, Rupture cannon or Acid spray? I really liked your Tyrant Guard roster. I also made up my roster for 1000 points: 1x hive tyrant with Stranglethorn cannon 6x tyrant guard with crushing claws and rending claws 1x carnifex with Stranglethorn cannon 1x tyrannofex 10x genestealers 3x2(6) warrior's dance with 2x Venom cannon and Deathspitter for monsters, I think it's better to take the Stranglethorn cannon, because it has more maximum damage and is effective against the elite.
I like your list. It's very interesting. I would say you are good with either choice on your tfex here. It honestly is very matchup dependent. You could really use the Rupture Cannon to destroy vehicles and monsters early and easily and take a big lead early on in 1k points. But I can see a lot of use from having a reliable overwatch weapon as well which can really help control the game. I don't think there are any bad options between the two, it just matters what you end up playing against. I still lean towards the Rupture Cannon, though. That's more of a personal preference.
So was there a points change to tyranids because I wanted to try this list, but with the exact lineup on the app it says it's 2010 points. Was wondering if there's something I'm missing or is this list legit ?
Yes, there was a recent points change and Lictors went up by 5 points each. I have 2 Lictors in my list so it will show 2010 in the app. It was right at 2000 for this event though, which was the week before the points update.
18 TyrantGuard scream assimilator swarm to me. Very surprise to see Synaptic Nexus list. Congrats on your win 🎉
Thanks very much! I actually like them a lot better in Synaptic Nexus over Assimilation Swarm! They don't die as easily in Synaptic Nexus and they are good at getting my characters where they need to go! You're definitely not the only one to be surprised to see so many of them in a Synaptic Nexus list though!
With that many tyrant guard, I was surprised you didn't go for assimilation swarm, which is where they shine the most. Have you tried it? You'd maybe need to switch a tfex for a couple psychophages and add two rippers instead of a lictor so you get to 6 harvesters at least. But having so many cps to regen tyrant guard make them soo annoying. I usually play guard with crushing claws, though them hitting on 4+ is a bit meh sometimes.
I actually tried running Assimilation Swarm before but it didn't work as well. I like Tyrant Guard best in Synaptic Nexus. Regenerating the guard is nice but sometimes they just get completely wiped out and you don't get to regenerate them in the first place. The 5++ in Synaptic Nexus is great for when they are exposed to really good AP weapons that would normally cut through them in Assimilation Swarm and being able to use Reinforced Hive Node makes them really durable as well. The Tyrant Guard themselves don't do any damage so bringing them back doesn't benefit me. I just need them to stay alive long enough to run my Tyrant and Swarmlord into the enemy lines. I know Craig from Maelstrom Gaming has had success running them in Assimilation Swarm though!
@@spacebug40000 Yeah Craig's been pushing ass swarm, I think its an underrated detachment. I run zoans (instead of a third tguard unit) and phages nearby so the guard at least has a 6+/6++ that helps a bit. That 6+++ sometimes helps a single model soaking 2 lascannon type shots. Few armies can actually kill the whole unit in one shooting turn. And genestealers with fight first and heroic intervention will be nearby to countercharge any melee attempt. Anyways, congrats on the win!
It's the chitin of comtempt strat
Oh that's so good. Haha. Love it.
well done mate, congrats!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it!!
For new content ideas. I would love to see a short “where do I place my next unit” segment. 3-5 minutes, some fast visual way to show the game state (your list, opponent’s list with shorthand info on units “Gretchen (swarm)”, mission/rule/map. Help folks start to develop opening “sequences” spiritually similar to chess. Just expose us to as many unique setups as possible and talking about what you would do next and why. Occasionally release discussion videos where you reply to comments with good ideas or analysis. Farm the comments for scenarios and do polls
Hi well done. I run 12 tyrant guard in my list find them very good.
That’s awesome! What detachment do you use them in? I’m a big fan of them now!
Congratulations!
Congratulations on the win, well done. I'm gonna watch that necron fight a couple of times for tips and tricks.
Thanks so much! That Necron fight was scary. Knocking out the Doomsday Ark early and also killing the Hexmark with the Neurotyrant were key plays to making this work. Really fun game and great opponent! Thanks for watching the video!!
Thanks for the report and interesting list! What was your favorite weapon for the tyrant guard. I am getting ready to build mine and would be interested in your perspective. Are you going to LVO? If so do you think you are going to keep going with this list or move to something else. If you are going hope to see you there!
Hey! Thanks for the comment! I didn’t notice a big difference in the effectiveness of the weapons but I’ll definitely try it more! I will be at LVO (super excited to finally go!) so please say hi! I’m not sure if I will stick to the list that long though. I like to try different things all the time so we will see what happens.
@@reubengariby9199 nice. Definitely will try and find you. I play for the Army Esports team. My gamer tag is McNinja so if you see me first say hi. I am a big fan of Vanguard Onslaught lists. What do you think of that detachment? I am playing around with Mawlocks and Trygons but haven’t gotten a lot of games in this season due to work.
@@alexandermcdonough5631 That's awesome, man! Thanks for introducing yourself. I hope to meet you in person sometime. I am a big fan of Vanguard Onslaught but it isn't really my playstyle. I think it is very strong, however, and I particularly love it with Mawlocs and Trygons. It's a powerful detachment that would do well with plenty of snake-bodies in the list. I hope to see how you play them sometime!
Which gaurd weapons seem to do best?
I didn’t notice too much difference between them, honestly. None of them did particularly well but all of them helped finish off damaged units. They work great as support for the Tyrant and Swarmlord but are virtually useless on their own.
Yeah Kevin won best painted and we did the prize support for it. When Veronica was asking what to do I said make it space marine themed because I know Kevin will win it.
Be interested to know about how they want to evolve their list following the tournament. He mentioned going to GTL next so the why and how would be good
I had a recent game vs new guard and everything of mine just gets deleted so the ymyr invul is not so important, gonna try out GTL and strat reserves to see if going extra killy can work. Can also go budget invul with rampart crest. But it’s definitely a tailor for the IG matchup
