The bulk of this was recorded at our church service, where my youngest kid came out with their new name and identity. Yet, we have had some strong cultural and religious messages that need to be sorted through. B...

Beautiful video. I lead an adult class in an ELCA church and we did a study on gender dysphoria a few years ago and had three guest speakers talk to all interested members of our church. The sessions were well attended and all speakers were treated with the respect and kindness they deserved. I think we all should be mindful of whom Christ would want to associate with today and with whom he did associate in the past.

Absolutely! Religion is the structure we created that , ideally, introduces us to God, but then we take responsibility for our own relationship with God. Unfortunately, religion does not always support that personal journey.

Thanks, Pastor Siri - There was a book called Living More With Less, and now I see there is a 30 year new edition. I remember reading that there was a man from Africa in the US and he observed, "These Americans, they spend money on grass seed, fertilizer and water and work hard to prepare their yard for the seed, and then water the seeds often, and then when the grass is over an inch tall, they mow it all down with their expensive lawn mower. I don't understand this." I loved that book and maybe will buy the new edition. I noticed when you talked about boxing up things you find you don't want or need or like, you just mentioned 'getting rid of the stuff'', and I wished you had said to give it away to charities or thrift shops (which are usually in aid of a charity). I'm sure you meant that, not tossing the stuff in the trash! Buying stuff from thrift shops is also a way to reduce waste and save money. I;m really enjoying your talks a lot, so thanks!

Dear Siri - I am so very glad I found you! You get where I am , at age 90, in my beliefs. I do believe in reincarnation but it scares me a lot. What if I am born again as an abused person, a Dalit living on the street in India, a homeless ill person filled with pain in a cold winter in Minnesota, a black person assailed by discrimination? That scares me.

1Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1Cor 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 1Cor 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 1Tim 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 1Tim 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 1Tim 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 1Tim 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Tim 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1Tim 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1Tim 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 1Tim 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. This doesn't mean women are to be like mute slaves or something. They can teach other women or even rebuke unbiblical men's actions, provided they know the scriptures well. Acts 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. But women are not to be pastors. The Bible honors women who fear the Lord and obey his word, read Proverbs 31:10-31, Books of Esther and Ruth (two whole books named after women), the King James Version. Only men are to be teachers in a congregation of Christians: 1Ti 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 1Ti 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 1Ti 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 1Ti 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 1Ti 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 1Ti 3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. It's the man's responsibility to know the Bible and many other good applicable knowledge, so that the wife will have respect for him and can ask him about critically important things. If the man is a lazy slob, sinful and immature, then you have problems. Men and women are created by God differently, for different purposes. A godly woman shouldn't be ashamed of the traditional role God meant for her, and be obedient to what the Bible commands.

This is my experience. I am an old person. lol As a kiddo I was a full blown tomboy, I loved sports, I played with the boys. I couldn't understand why the girls wanted to wear dresses and play with dolls. My family went to work trying to make me into a girly girl. They failed. When I was may be 14 if someone had said to me you can be a boy, I would have said yep let's do it. I was attracted to men and women, but really terrified of men. I played my sports through high school, did well in school and went on to college. I confuse myself, Ash talks about being gender fluid. This is me, and I didn't understand all of this until I was 50+ years old. I think I was born a girl who loved to be active. When I was pretty young the sexual abuse started. I was the only girl in the family and apparently the only one being abused. The sexual abuse was bad enough that I became an expert at dissociation. I have a diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder and I have male and female parts. Sometimes I feel female, sometimes I feel male, sometime I am attracted to men, sometimes I am attracted the women. Part of me decided that if I was a little boy I wouldn't be abused. Unfortunately that was not the case because my abuser saw me as a girl. As an adult I dress in jeans, tshirts, sweatshirts, tennies, that is how I am comfortable. I often am called sir, which actually infuriates me, because if you look at me you will see I am not a man. As an aside I also have many autistic traits. I know that many people in the lgbtqia community do. It has not been an easy life, things have changed majorly in the past 25 years as fas as acceptance. All of my female friends in jr high and high school were gay, it was never talked about. I am not sure if we were all oblivious, or just me. Ash is blessed to have you as a parent. My family just thinks I am a weirdo who stresses them out. I come from an evangelical background. Even though I have been born again for 40 years they all think I am hell bound. They do not get me nor do they make any effort to. Anyway, everyone is created to be themselves, everyone is here to experience something unique. No matter what that uniqueness is, God loves us unconditionally. That is something that just clicked for me in the past 6 months. Ash, I see you as being very brave, I hope that all of your dreams come true.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so sorry for what you have experienced. I know that people who hold very conservative beliefs really struggle to get how diverse we are made to be and they can be spiritually abusive. As a culture, we have yet to reckon with religious trauma but there is more awareness on all of this. Hello to your lovely parts that have protected you so well all these years. I will pass your kind words onto Ash.

You mentioned that we all have a spiritual personality uniquely our own. I am thinking of that while on the mat as having the will power and discipline orienting the physicality of movement away from the ego somehow. At times I become conscious of that union in the breathing, the pneuma in harmony like a divine human encounter. Who or what breathes on us in our asanas. Whatever of the four yoga types . . .

What a BRILLIANT share and analysis. I take issue with "Jesus-ness" and how some have used it to paralyse self-efficacy and dismantle the KINGDOM WITHIN! The result is a spiritual blindness of "Biblical" proportions! As you say, when we ontologise "Jesus" and separate "Jesus-ness" from the doable, guiding WISDOM that He shared, then we really are exporting our POWER to hierarchies that were erected over 2,000 years ago. Personally, I am still optimistic that we can "rebuild the kingdom" by striving to stay in HARMONY. Firstly, we must believe that we are created PERFECT! Every being on this planet is Okay as they are (TUKO SAWA) and we should focus on living in joyful cooperation with others. How difficult is that? Other beings are already doing that! They all show up and do what they are supposed to do in our diverse web of life. ALAS it is us humans and our divisive stories that are trashing this "Garden of Eden." ------WE NEED TO BALANCE-BODY-MIND-SOUL---ASAP!!! Here is a Mary Magdalene quote that King Charles III shares in the HARMONY BOOK : “Attachment to matter gives rise to passion against Nature. Thus trouble arises in the whole body; this is why I tell you: be in harmony.” The Gospel of Mary Magdalene (HARMONY: A NEW WAY OF LOOKING AT OUR WORLD. (2010;31)

Yes! Harmony within and harmony without is the path and goal. As within, so without.

I have really liked that book by Cynthia Bourgeault. Another book I've enjoyed is Meggan Watterson's Mary Magdalene Revealed. Maybe you have read it already, who knows, maybe you'll mention it in the next video, but if not, then I do warmly recommend it. And Meggan has also created Mary Magdalene oracle deck which presents Mary's gospel's teachings in the form of an oracle.

Yes! I have read it and had the oracle deck as well (gave it to my mom).
