Lets talk about Ashes of Creation endgame
While Ashes of Creation is in its Alpha 2 stage, it doesn't give us full insight into how the game will be played at a much larger scale. However, players are currently discussing some of the behaviours being experienced by aggressive guilds pressuring players for resources and stopping them from accessing parts of the map. This video covers my take on the matter and my speculation on what I think the end game will be.

Is playing Ashes of Creation Solo Worth it?

Ashes of Creation is gearing up to be an exciting and fun game to play, with the focus orientated around group play, exploration, economic and political tensions and ultimately, a sandbox for us to be challenged in. However, as I've played through most of Phase 2 as a solo player, I feel as though some tweaks may be required to balance the experience of those players who can't find groups, have...

How does damage work in Ashes of Creation?

There are many systems in Ashes of Creation that need testing. So this video dives into how damage numbers scale from your weapons and your main stats. This video aims to demystify how the numbers you see on mobs you are fighting relate to the stats on your weapon - it looks at damage scaling with skills and how those numbers are calculated. In later videos, we will examine your defence systems...

What are deadly finishers in Ashes of Creation?
End game would involve objectives, such as raiding and sieging enemy areas to both weaken them and take their stuff. This would be constant. This would be important, as would defending your own areas be important as well. Why? Not because of what those things actually directly give by doing them, but because doing such will give your side a slight edge over the other side during PVP. If you raid and siege and do so successfully, then that enemy area is slightly weakened. That means you can PVP them more easily. If you're on the losing side, then that means you're going to be slightly griefed in future fights, which won't be as fun. So, the real end game is to have a slight edge over your opponent so that PVP is more fun for you and less fun for the enemy.
That’s certainly a wider aspect of endgame for sure! Appreciate the additional notes to my video. To that point, crafters may not fall into that category though so there’s an element of game loop(s) which falls out of that a little. I think the overarching message is you technically make your own endgame depending on what aspect of the wider game you want to engage in.
@@BlandPickle I don't recall what the looting rules are for the game, but in full-loot or partial-loot PVP games, you'd run into that loop for crafters, as they'd continually have high level customers needing to replace gear. Looting aside, you'd still need crafters for repairing damaged structures, and likely for reparing high end damaged gear. Then you would also have all the caravan and ships stuff that would need to be crafted. The consumables... would be consumed and there would need to be new ones. Etc. Given the nature of trade routes and caravans and such in game, and the dangers associated with transporting across multiple continents, what you may end up having happen at end-game for crafters is having them go with groups across continents to gather resources from those regions that aren't present in the home region and crafting said items there as well. It would be high-risk to do such, but doing cross continent trade routes may be near impossible. There could also potentially be scenarios where you have to physically be present at any given location to learn specific rare recipes or something. There may also be the potential for crafters to be put in positions where they are actively repairing during sieges, be it the walls and defenses they are defending, or the siege equipment that their side is using to attack. Typically, in games with enchanting to very high degrees, like Archeage, the chance to get that last 1% quality on items or to get that very final tier of rarity is astronomically small, like 1/1,000,000 (or basically 1 of that rarity in entire server) which can give a sense of chase and competition between crafters of opposing metropolises and such.
Yep absolutely to all of this. Makes perfect sense and likely the scenario for ashes. You mention ArchAge and one of the pillars of inspiration for AoC is ArchAge which I’m sure you’re already aware of. There are many features we’re yet to fully understand and which may even undergo focal changes when we hit full production. I figure a lot of what you and I have discussed and the details in my video will be close but change so always possible. To that end, one example - apparently there’s a stat squish coming for enchantment because TTK in PvP is too quick or something. So in my video I touched upon various non systemic aspects of endgame, there is a reality and pattern to these types of games, I am always open to things being a little different depending on mechanics.
@ have they ever explicitly stated if nodes can forcibly downgraded by some means? The structures of course can be destroyed by sieging, but have they ever explicitly stated that, say, a Metropolis node can be forced back down to a City?
@@JeremyB8419 Yeah, good question, not to my awareness. Other than Seiges as you mentioned, the only way I know node levels being controlled is via the vassal system, but that is more of a "you can only level up to" rather than "lets level this node down by choice". Curiously, why would such a mechanism be of interest to you?
Just fyi each weapon trees only works when you are using that weapon the inactive tree dosnt do anything
Yep! During the time of recording there was a bug that triggered multiple deadly finishers, from your inactive weapon and also from weapons you had used in the past hence the confusion.
The game needs to appeal for solo casual players so i have a faction of people i can kill
I stopped playing AoC when I learnt I am restricted to leveling only 5 of 22 Professions and doomed to running past Iron Ore and Willow Trees etc forever without being able to gather them. That is bad design and an insult. 10% of players will put in long hours and own Freeholds and be in top guilds. BlandPickle will be one of a very few elite crafters who make fruit salad or whatever for them. I would be part of the other 90% and I don't see any reason to play long term.
Thanks for the comment! At the moment you can’t get journeyman tools to gather iron ore and willows but that’s purely because the level isn’t in the alpha, I believe journeyman tools will be coming in phase 3 which will then allow you to collect these items. I understand it’s frustrating though. I’m going to try execute on that plan, it may fail haha
Such a terrible build omg take all of this with a grain of salt 🧂
Thanks for the comment man! There are defo better builds out there, and plenty of different synergies. This videos focuses on the basics and isn’t intended to be a perfect guide but more a basic run though :) I plan on doing an updated one where I focus on more of the Clerics cc and stun kit etc.
Seemingly on my uk server the talk was that Sol Deus mayor upped taxes up to 100% and disbanded the guild on New Aila Whether this is true I’m not sure.

Hey! No worries. Ashes of Creation has its own FPS and screen ms measurement tool, if you press shift+alt+f you’ll get to fps and ms counter to the bottom right of your mini map
@@BlandPickle nice nice. thank you ;) i rly hope AoC gets big. thx for explaining the deadly finisher. i was all time thinking who the hell is that finisher, hah.
No problem!! I hope AoC does well too
Tanks and clerics are the only classes for those roles currently. Having some variety available to those players makes the most sense to me. HYPOTHETICALLY - that would give us 7 differentiable play styles per… but this is the ultimate question for this game for me. Are these truly new classes or if it’s just tank with warrior oriented mods.
See this where I’m conflicted, how I understood it was that only tanks and clerics were getting access to the second class system. Sounds like I’ve misinterpreted this and what you’re saying is, everyone will be getting access to the second class system but the only classes they can use will be clerics and tanks? If so I really missed the mark there haha. I dug through the wiki a while back on this - what I understood was we will get skill points to contribute to a tree, that augments our existing skills. To my understanding that augment either makes a new skill entirely or it enhances the current one. I think (I hope) it a choice we get to make. To that end, if it’s anything like arcages system (it’s based off of it) then it’ll be new classes and not just augments.
@blandpickle I’m agreeing with you. I may have worded myself poorly but I like the idea that cleric and tank are getting their secondary classes made available. How it goes down? I wouldn’t refute what you saw on the wiki but I’m not exactly sure how they’re going to pull it off and make it fun and differentiable. Take the cleric for example; what about the existing ranger kit could be incorporated into the cleric kit to make it a (insert whatever that class combo is called)? Can we make the smite bleed? Is it druidy now and our heals root enemies in an aoe underneath? Like, I’m just concerned that it’s going feel really flat and instead of the class combos making a whole new playstyle, instead it’s just cleric with a bow.
Ahh got you, sorry I totally misunderstood haha. I’m not feeling 100% atm so good chance I missread your comment. I think we are on the same page now! I agree, I think there is a lot of work to do and like with a good chunk of the systems we have I wouldn’t be suprised if we got a watered down version as a starting point. To be honest it’s really hard to gauge. I have heard, yet I can't remember when or where, Steven talk about Clerics getting a death skill when comboed with a particular class. So I'm hopefully, but as always with these types of things, it's pinch of salt until we see more. The design pillars of the game would suggest that these will be stand-alone classes with enough differentiation, so I'm remaining hopeful for that :)
It may have changed, but at one point Steven said that there would be a "starter zone" within each biome.
Yes! About a day after posting this video I found the details on the wiki 🤦🤦
@@BlandPickle You posted this video "1 day ago", so I will just assume my comment was what led you to find it on the wiki, lol
@@Cimarb😆😆 ah I should explain. I schedule my videos - I upload them about a week before they release, I usually have a queue of two scheduled. The only end game I see for this title is it shutting down when people realise it's just another generic theme park that the streamer lemmings blow through in a month and move on.
Firstly this is a sandbox not a theme park. It’s PvPvX. While there is a reality where this may happen, like any other game, it already has a strong following. It’s not trying to compete in the same market as wow, it’s trying to corner a niche gameplay style to the likes of Albion online, archage, lineage 2 and Eve Online. Its focus is for players to build the landscape we play in. I’m hopefully they achieve this vision but the game is in alpha and has a long road ahead of it. The studio is passionate and driven to deliver so I wish them the best outcome :)
Hello good sir! Excellent video. Im well versed in this game as far as crafting, gathering and exploring safety. While as an MMO player since Everquest, I know how to combat but this game has a combat mechanic that im not exactly sure im doing correctly. Is there any way you could explain the Combo System and how all types can use that system to the peek of thier combat effectiveness? That you, and you have my subscription!
Thank you for the subscription! As a starting point part of this video may help - ua-cam.com/video/3BGjWCY3K4Q/v-deo.htmlsi=zkO58hPjPg00k3qw the combo system is effectively predicated on landing your auto attacks in rapid succession to trigger deadly finishers. So you configure your finishers on your weapon tree and auto attack away to trigger it. It creates a pattern in your rotation outside of just mana dumping skills. So you auto attack to trigger DF, while you have passives running, skill dump, manage npc rinse repeat. As you maybe aware each passive skill tree of a weapon is different, so finding which weapons best suit your character is up to you and your play style. I run a great sword and longbow as a cleric because great sword has bleed on it and the extra damage for me is required! Hope this helps as a starting point?
@BlandPickle i appreciate that, thank you. I was over thinking it. There's really very little in game explanation on it, so I wasn't really sure. Not out of the realm for an alpha , im sure a better more detailed explanation will appear in game before launch. I am so excited for this game.
Me too! Yeah I think they will eventually be improving took tips and so on as we move toward beta, right now it’s core systems focus. I can’t wait to see where this all leads to!
I still cant get past just loading into the game before it crashes 🤷♂️
Ah that sucks! Have you been on the discord in the questions tab to see if anyone can help there? I know a lot of people work through the issues of game crashes and solve it with the community. If you’ve already done that, there’s not too much more I can recommend without knowing more about the steps you’ve taken so far.
I think you’re a bit optimistic on the Zerg guilds and how they’ll be dealt with, but I do agree with how much freedom players will have to politic the world.
Fair call! I’m optimistic given I’m someone who’s watched large alliances and corporations that controlled major pockets of space tumble in eve online. I never played all that much but I followed the videos detailing the complex interactions. My favourite narrative was about goonswarm haha. One of the Sol Deus guild members posted a video of their fight with a group of people fighting back on reddit. I commented saying it was good to see peeps challenging them and he agreed. his words were approximately “yeah they’re finally fighting back”. Says all I need to know haha. Cheers for watching the vid!
The end game is essentially going to be kingdom building/piracy. It's going to be awesome!
I literally cannot wait to see how it all unfolds! Watching the first node go down will be epic!!
You can easily solo as a mage bard or cleric theyll be 6 levels down pulling 6+ mobs killing them faster than anyone else just a little bit of gear and good skills
The good gear seems to be topical for many people. Skill well haha I certainly have to work on aspects of my rotation :P
I have to say I don't like that much the level of gear grind in the game atm, and the grind to player power level relationship. I like sandbox games, but Ashes feels like a game you cannot just drop in and out, because you will be left behind in terms of power. All interesting game systems like caravans, wars are essentially locked behind the player power gap we are witnessing. Gear statistics simply matter too much, and the grind you have to do to improve them is too excessive for many players. Some of that stuff might get balanced by Intrepid, as it was with Phase1 power spike coming from rare gear, but that just might come too late for me. Camping for hours boring pve content for rare mats, with static respawn timers we have in the game, just doesn't feel like good gameplay to me.
hey, thanks for the comment. I can understand that. This game certainly does tip the scales toward group gameplay and the make your own quest approach is very much what fills that grind gap. I've said a few times I do worry just a tiny bit about how solo gameplay will feel and if it's out of sorts with balance atm, but we are also in a hyper confined environment where a lot of the other content isn't yet revealed. Either way, for me, two hours of fishing, or collecting or killing some skeles is fun content so long as it remains chill and manageable , so I think I'll always find something to do, but from a wider-players perspective, I can see how it can feel jarring. I reckon keep and eye on the development. I think this will be a fun game to play.
Can you please try and justify your statement that you think that the deadly finisher from one weapon should apply to both weapons? As in why do you think that’s a good design choice?
hey, thanks for the question. At the time I thought that was the intent of the weapon system, that both weapons synergised given they were both equipped. I thought it would be cool if you could run ward on one weapon and refreshing follow-through on another without switching over, it made the power fantasy aspect of character building feel awesome. Hind sights is 20/20 and from a sensibility perspective I think I was just being a tad bit too excited. At the time the weapons were bugged, and they were procing both deadly finishers via the one weapon, so my comment was due to that in part. It makes good sense how the weapons currently work (that is to say separately) given the prior interaction you can see in the first few minutes of the video (my confusion too) has been fixed. Hope this answers your question?
Just got yourself a new subscriber, video ideas for you. News reporting on the latest drama betweeen nodes, Eventually interviewing different guilds so we can get to know them. Anyways keep it coming i like your flow
Yay thank you so much for the support. That’s actually an interesting take! I never thought of that, thanks for the suggestion!!
Great video! People don't seem to understand what this game is about.
Thanks man! I think it has to do with how close it looks like wow or other mmorpgs. It will take time to build the understanding.
None of this sounds like a good thing... im hoping im just not understanding.
To some it may not be, the game is a pvpvx game and reflective of archage mechanics, eve, lineage 2 and so on - which all had elements of the mechanisms being implemented in AoC. It’s not to say this is all you will experience, it’s just an aspect of a game that is a burden players will need to find ways to deal with. If that doesn’t sound like something you’re willing to game through that’s ok, the team at Interpid recognise this well.
It's amazing and will continue to become even better. This isn't Darkfall, there's a punishment for people just outright killing you. You have to understand the mechanics to be able to use them to your advantage.
Exactly! Game the game! 🙏🏻
@ Is there a punishment? Cause right now it doesnt seem like there is. The ganking is unreal - which will only get more frustrating as zones cut off the lower leveled population. All im hearing from this is "If you arent keeping up, you'll be left behind." which doesnt sound like a healthy approach to the game at all.
@ Yes of course, check out the corruption system. If someone attacks you and you don't flag and fight back then they will go corrupt when they kill you. Resources are suppose to be fought over, it's the life blood of the gameplay loop. Just because you lose one resource to a higher level doesn't mean you'll lose every resource to a higher level. If you're being trained by mobs then my previous statement still applies. Learn how to act when that happens, what can each class do to CC the person trying to train you? What can you do to control the mobs to help people get away? If leveling and gathering was too easy then shelf live of the game is greatly reduced. Some of the best gameplay experiences come from conflict in some way or another, even in your single player games
Your mana management graph is wrong. I play a Mage solo 98% of the time, and rarely drop below 90% mana. Granted I don't play a Meta build mage. My TTK in PvE is on par with any other mage just better mana efficiency. Proper gear and rotation moves Mage to S tier in both categories.
Yep, very subjective opinion based on my experience of a mage in phase 1. Given your play style it would make sense for it to be higher of course. I’m not married to my tier list nor did I try and claim it as a universal reflection of the archetype, so no ill intention there. I just never found the balance and alway had an empty mana bar even with inner fire and refreshing followthrough so I’d love to hear what your rotation is because I plan on having mage as an alt and I don’t wanna be sitting down all the time haha
At present since it takes a large amount of time to level and has penalties for dying I see the end game being weak. The game is the journey to max level.
Sorry in what sense do you see it being weak? As in not enough to do? Or not engaging enough?
@BlandPickle weak as in not enough to do since it's not the emphasis of the game to grind end game progression
Ah got you! Yeah I think it’s more defined by us as players, I suspect it will have a lot to do with node control, zone control and resource chasing.
I look at this a little different. I see it as a bully and his 3 or 4 friends in elementary school picking on the other 30 class mates because the sample size is low. They will go to middle school and maybe gain a few more like minded friends to the group but at some point they hit high school and the class size grows to 500 students. That group of 10 gets diluted in to the overwhelming number. As this game goes live and all the nodes become available it will be larger than a metropolitan city worth of schools. At that point the the small groups of friends from a single small school become irrelevant. Now maybe a few groups of these band together and create a "Gang" with larger numbers and has influence and more power and starts working on organized crime throughout the entire region. That creates a larger but still isolated issue in a few nodes. But then the world is larger than a few nodes. Its more like a state (A US state because your country has huge states) and that group controlling a small city is even less relevant. Full blown all nodes game will be even larger and I think there will be places for people to play away from the drama of the nodes with issues. In the current Alpha there just isn't room to get away from the trouble makers or bullies. The nodes and the influence have will become a larger presence at the point of release or some point after once things grow. There will be multiple groups in a node controlling the overall area. This is where the mayor being in with a few groups will need the influence pull the masses of unrelated guilds together for that area to maintain the political control for the node so the node itself can grow and prosper. The control of the node and if it becomes a large enough node the control of the adjoining nodes becomes a different topic. At that point it starts to act more like countries. As it is now with the small area of play one node or one guild of a decent size can have a larger influence than when the game goes live. I just sit back and let the bullies feel powerful knowing how insignificant they really are in the end. As for the gear spreadsheets. Not this time. But I do have some calculations for you to figure out when you get bored. The profit per slot per item of a caravan over the distance traveled. I mapped out the distance from node to node roughly then stopped. There is factor for the distance traveled with the items hauled. I could just do the hauls and figure it out but at level 13 running caravans is boring and dangerous. Is that two slot uncommon items really more profitable than 2 one slot common items and so on? Time also plays into this as the distance is supposed to be calculated in a straight line between the two locations but that is not a direct relation to the time taken to travel that distance. Then to complicate it more they put in a road buff...then took that out. I stopped about the time I figured out the general distances and went back to picking flowers and petting animals to death.
Yep in your first two paragraphs I think we’re more or less saying the same thing. I was a little less structured but my goal was to express similar aspects to the same points you’re making! Nicely worded! In terms of caravans I hate the mechanic: it’s profitable yes but my thought is always “I have two hours to play, do I want to spent 45 of those two hours sluggishly pushing a caravan or do I wanna go pet things to death, pick flowers and fight skeletons for a sword?” And the answer is the later for me always hahaha
What would happen if you decked a cleric in physical power/strength gear and a greatsword?
Clerics spells scale of magic rating only so your auto attack combos would scale from physical damage and your spells would be a wet tissue only useful for burn and cc. I am actually going to get myself some strength gear to see how the game responds to it, but my above is my current expectation of what would happen haha.
Probably something to point out with this video is, in terms of production approach and discussion structure, it’s a little all over the place and not my best bit of editing and approach. Having watched this video back there’s a few things I wish I had cleaned up, but I decided to release it so I can look back on it and hope that I’ve built and improved from here. Apologies it’s a little stuttery and unstructured.
To my knowledge, Albion Online is the only successful crowdfunded MMORPG that has made it to production and full release. There is also Elite Dangerous, but that is more akin to an EVE-type. I believe that AOC will be the next crowdfunded MMORPG to achieve success, and it will surpass Albion Online in terms of popularity and impact.
I actually didn’t realise Albion was a CF game! That’s actually really fascinating. I enjoyed playing it causally on my iPad for a time, but ultimately couldn’t settle into a groove with it. I think AoC had a lot of potential and I’m here for it. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed for Intrepid and support this journey. It’s shaping up to be an excellent game.
@@BlandPickle Indeed it is, and I am enthusiastic about it! If you happen to read this message and have the opportunity, I would like to inquire about your opinion on a cleric equipped with strength gear. Does the majority of the cleric's damage stem from auto attacks? If so, I believe it could be enjoyable to experiment with a retribution paladin type build, particularly when playing solo. Cancel Reply
I did catch this question, I thought I responded to it on a seperate comment. My bad if I didn’t, physical attack would just contribute to your auto attack, your magic skills would be wet tissues used for cc, and you’d need healing dedicated equipment to cover the loss of magic power boosting your healing stats. I want to test this thought because I wonder if in some alternative reality it may scale off just whatever is bigger number which would be funny. I’ll test.
@@BlandPickle I appreciate all the responses. I will be sure to test this out eventually. I enjoy running unorthodox builds as long as they are viable. Theory crafting is enjoyable and your videos have helped me gain a better understanding of the mechanics. Most importantly, I did not know about mousing over the weapon icon to see effects, percentages, etc., and holding shift to get different tooltips about things. Your content has provided me with a lot of value.
No worries! That’s my aim in all of this and glad it’s helped!! Nice chatting to you :)
I was actually thinking the other day what would the game look like at max level, and max all the artisan skills I choose. I wonder how long that will take when full release comes out? I personally would love to have it take a long time because the journey of leveling things is my favorite part. Yesterday while gathering, I saw someone standing in front of a bluebell afk. I took it. I was legendary. I realized it was being camped. The moment I took it the afk person logged off. It felt really good to snag it from them. I do wish that the static rarity of gatherables changes though because it makes me feel like the rarity on my clothes/tools/bags don't matter much. Id also like to see the spawns be dynamic too. Which Im sure they will be eventually. Can't wait some more passes on the artisan skills. Im mainly playing solo atm, and focusing on the artisan skills.
Nice snag! Yeah the static rarity thing is a bit booty butts and something they need to fix but as the term goes “it’s alpha” haha. That being said the scarcity of resources in full production should level that out given the resources won’t spawn at the same rate everything is heavily dialled up. So I guess in your scenario snagging a legendary bluebell would be a wild accomplishment in full production as the respawn timers won’t be minutes, but rather 10-12 hours or something. Current estimates based on the wiki to hit 50 is 225 hours or there about, for most guilds that’s about 2 weeks of hardcore grinding, for a solo player well depends on your progress through early game and luck on loot drops. I think the levelling journey for solo players will be a lot more fun comparatively, given it’s a quest every time for us with more peril haha.
My idea of social is more cooperative than lord of the flies. This nonsense about risk vs reward is wholly skewed towards the strong preying on the weak. There's no recourse for lower level players being griefed by these people. I don't want to be paranoid in a game. We should be working together to face external challenges and monsters. No one in zone speaks, so not social. All the guilds are formed elsewhere, not social in the game.... It does seem to be set up so far to benefit the griefers and the toxic players. No thanks. I realise this game is wholly not for me as it is right now and I'm sad I spent money on it at this point.
I’m a little sad to read this honestly as it wasn’t my intent to turn you off the game but rather present an aspect of the game which has been a design pillar since the get go. There’s no one player in this game that can outdo another without cooperation and so long as you find your place across Verra you’re likely going to be fine, especially when the map expands. My intent wasn’t to deter anyone, rather point out that there will be elements of this game which aren’t traditionally theme park. Toxicity and griefing have no place in any game, but the reality is this type of arena is intended to be played with zone control in mind hence battles and siege wars and so on. Ultimately one of the quests I’m going to need to complete myself is finding a group to coordinate with because solo gameplay will only get me so far, that’s one of my major hurdles at this point in time. Sorry again if this has put you off Ashes :(
@@BlandPickle Please don't think this reaction is from your video. I have been trying to play this on and off for quite some time. I find the slog to do anything in this game artificially made as difficult and time extracting as possible. I find the current type of player I run into is growing ever less cooperative for teamwork and more toxic and unpleasent to deal with. This is less like a fun game and more like a second fulltime job and thats completely not what I enjoy. My plan was similar to yours. I choose to spend skills onto specific crafting but that is not anywhere ready yet to invest my time into. I want to try out the rogue and that will probably be it for another period of time until more systems are actually functional.
Ah I see, appreciate the clarity. I hear you I will likely play this a lot but I don’t want to burn myself out before full launch so at some point I’m going to balance it with other games while I wait for more to come too. That said, I’ve been looking for a “home game” and I’m hopefully it’s AoC. I think when we have a massive map it may be more muted. Let me know if you move onto anything interesting as I’m always looking things to do between AoC up time.
@ i play alot of eso, swtor and manor lords right now. Im hoping that once the map grows on aoc the levels of foolishness will drop and I can return to crafting and gathering there. The world is beautiful but the idiot factor is too high for me
I have swotr on my long-term list of “to try” but never got around to it so I really should! Manor Lords is a new to me so I’ll give it a Google. ESO never landed for me but I did give it a crack! Thanks for sharing those with me. I’m currently obsessed with a game called The Bazaar which is a deck building auto battler I’m intrigued by. I tried quinfall recently but see no reason to play it given black desert online is far more polished, it offers nothing new so I stopped. I also tried pantheon but that was a mistake too haha.
First person making ashes content I have seen with an actually understandable guide! Great video THANK YOU!!!!
You’re very welcome!! Glad you found it useful!! I’m doing my best to continue explaining things like this!
I'm testing this game like I played ARK Survival Evolved on PVP Official. So glad your pointing this out because this is why i'm excited about this game! LORD OF THE FLIES
Absolutely! I’m super excited to see where they take it. I personally cannot wait to see the first overthrow of control :D
The tanks in our guild are loving the changes. But we are sweatlord PvPers.
PVE wise are the changes super impactful or is it mostly a nothing burger?
Stephen stated that there will be a focus on solo play. However, it will remain a group focused game.
Yep! My point in the video was more or less to say that I interpreted Steven’s response as solo play is getting tweaks and balances but, To my words in the video and yours above the goal is for ashes be group focused which is not lost on me :).
Would you able to do a solo cleric guide update? I mostly solo and I’m playing a mage right now. Wanted to try out a solo cleric, but I never played a healer before, haha.
Yeah it’s on the list! I have a few videos to finalise on community request but one is coming soon. If you have any questions more than happy to try and answer until then :)
I'm the 420th sub. It was meant to be.
This is the way! Thanks heaps for subbing and supporting the channel ❤️
420 subs… yeeeee 🤙
Yeeeeeeee boiiiii, next 69420 lets gooo
@ keep it up!! Won’t be long!!
@@izerathh thank you for the kind words!
Thank you for this video and for advocating for the casual players. I know solo play is not what ashes is about, but at the same time I doubt that I will have any meaningful group in the game. I still want to play and support this project, but I’m extremely casual. I just want to log in gather some things, craft, take photos and log out lol. And I don’t want to feel punished because I didn’t group up in my one hour play session.
No worries and it’s super important for Intrepid to be aware of players like this who want to support the game but arn’t as hardcore or able to be as group orientated as required! Hoping we hear something soon about it soon! They mentioned on the dev stream that there’s some focus on it!
I think mobs attacking out of trees, coming up from sand, jumping out of water is a great idea and would be really cool if implemented
I would love to see that type of dynamic game play, it would keep us on our toes for sure! Imagine a 3 star spider dropping on you though ahahaha, hopefully they keep it tame xD
Thanks for the review!
No worries!! Was a great update! Hope you’re keeping well mate.
Latest official patch: "Significantly improved performance for weapon combos". I hate when they say vague things like this. This is a "General Character" fix, so it's not graphics or something like that. They like to use the word "improved" a lot without providing any details.
Hey Erismo! Yeah I couldn’t really see much performance change on the combos last night, I did notice additional graphics on my attack combos but it’s not clear at all what they mean. I wonder if it was an engine balance thing or something? No idea, stat sheet doesn’t seemed to have changed
it's pronounced "ark"etype
Cheers for the correction! For whatever reason I loose many brain cells the minute the camera turns on and I go from being able to speak to having to figure out language haha, the camera affect I guess, I’ll aim to use the right term moving forward. Hope you found the video valuable otherwise.
I noticed a lot of things in this game are either over tuned or under tuned. Which I think is on purpose, so Intrepid can to see how it plays out. Hopefully these highs and lows end up somewhere in the middle.
Yes my hope too, the alpha very much has us focused on testing so my thoughts here are very much a point in time. I can’t wait to play this game when it launches full swing!!
Id argue bard should be higher in all categories. For survivability, the bards strength is in getting out of the situation. Shield, aoe stun, slide, and speed buff away. When a group wipes I’m always able to get away, when I pull too much solo I can get out if it. Must know the mob your facing though, some will still one/two shot you. For dps, if resonance stacks are built and spent correctly, you’re hitting pretty damn hard; pending upcoming nerfs. Level a bard to 12, that’s about when all classes seem to “wake up” and feel good.
Thanks for the additional detail! The tier list was a best effort, I agree though for a support class bards clap hard!
Slight correction; It's Novice - *_Apprentice_* - Journeyman etc.
I picked it up in the edit and was like nooooooooooo hahaha, I put some red text in the first time I spotted it to correct it but I was so far into editing I just accepted the mistake and moved on hahahah. Appreciate you commenting and watching the video!
@@BlandPickle Good video bro! I'm a little bit struggling myself, in terms of what I want to get out of Ashes of Creation, before it launches. I like playing Solo, but I'm not able to make my new armor and stuff, due to the artisan restrictions. I'm in a guild, that's nice for sharing resources, but I generally like playing alone more, or just with friends. Still figuring stuff out, I guess.
Thanks bro! Yeah man I love just doing things on my own hahah but I think I’m going to have to find a group - I had a Aussie guild lined up but it’s fallen through. Anyway I understand group play is a requirement, I just hope the dials on a few of these things are checked to avoid isolating many whom I think will want to just lone wolf it
The game design was meant to force you to play with other people in order to be efficient. This was a very early development idea and has been discussed on the forums ALOT. You basically discovered “how” they accomplish this. ;) Not sure if it will change too much. They still want people to realize “oh playing all alone and not interacting with people is inefficient, better reach out to other players!” This is the point of the system.
Absolutely it makes up the pillars of their design, defo not lost on me and I did my best to point this out a few times, I guess this video makes it more obvious to those who don’t know this that this is the case and also me prodding some questions at could the dials be twisted left or right a little more. It’s not meant to be a definitive anti group play commentary so hoping it hasn’t gone that way. All in all it’s just some poking prodding and questioning :)
@ well to your point. If you only have a 2 hour session, there may be many days where you don’t accomplish anything in 2 hours because LFG takes forever and then the team dies over and over or gets trained on.
Yep this! There’s nothing more frustrating. Could’ve got 50k xp or some materials instead in that time and so on.
I also chose cleric as my "solo" class for someone that plays ~ 2 hours a night max.... i enjoy the gathering and both my GM artisan skills will no doubt be gathering centric, and have been fortunate enough to find groups (not until i was about lvl 15+) to play with rather quickly, one of which asked me to join their guild, participate in their citizenship and voting and before i new it i ended up not so solo anymore. I 100% agree that the game pushes HARD in the group play aspects, but i do think there is a great opportunity there even for "off time" and "low time" players to participate. The advent of things like discord makes that even easier being able to set up events and group play sessions outside of game time... i was able to participate in a "grand caravan" the other night where 8 carvans launched, with 20-30 defenders/attackers all running wild.. one of the most uniquely enjoyable moments yet. I started my journey as a solo player, but like you came quickly to the conclusion this game is just... not intended to be solo friendly, so I ended up jumping in with 2 feet and have had an absolute blast with it.
That’s so awesome to hear! I absolutely understand (and I think I even mention this 57:10 maybe?) that if it comes to it I will try I find people to play with! No questions about it, my concern is there maybe some dials that need some tweaking here and there. This game is awesome and I have done similar to you in having found a group to play with in phase 1 and really enjoyed it but I’m a lone wolf in many senses and I’ve levelled 1-20 so far, I’d say 95% on my own, and it’s been super enjoyably. This analysis wasn’t meant for one answer or another type decision, it’s just a chance for a discussion on some wider topics that may need reviewing! Power on glorious cleric brother!
the game is called Scam of Creation, fix ur title
The game is playable and live in a second alpha… while some of the earlier financial practises weren’t ideal they’ve been addressed. Where’s the scam?
@@BlandPickle yeah just make sure to never do any pvp because they will ban you for some made up reason. its legit 💯💯
I’ve done heaps of pvp and not been banned, I even blatantly pked someone, I have a short on it in my videos and intrepid check my page from time to time. Whatever got you banned for likely wasn’t pking. Doesn’t make this game a scam bud.
@ lmaooo yeah steven sharif has never banned anybody for no reason. keep telling yourself that
I never said that, I said you probably got banned for breaking the rules which is pretty consistent with most games and their terms of services. From a business perspective Steven likely doesn’t ban people for nothing and funsies, if that was happening in mass scale it would kill the game - so you’re an outlier from the norm for a reason, and based on what I’ve seen from the recent ban wave, the population of Verra remains healthy, so what did you do wrong?
I leveld up solo to 22. Its not that hard. Till lvl 15 its sooo fast. Then after lvl 15 its faster in a group. From 20 to like 24 its again very fast to level solo. For gear go in marketplace. You can ez solo level in this game
And that’s true for a lot of players but not all of us have enough time to commit to one or the other or both (which is kind of what the video is trying to point out). It’s not a complaint, just a perspective on different player experiences like yours :)! Glad you’re enjoying the game!

👍👍
The video is great, you need to keep promoting your channel. Is not hard.
Thank you! I will! :)
You're doing great do. Genuinely and sincerely. This was a long ass video and I watched it until the end. Thank you.
Thank you for watching it all! I think in the future I may break these up into chunks maybe? Not sure, really appreciate your support!!
