What a fun tour 🙂💕🌿, and I learned quite a bit. I remember hearing years ago, that poinsettias needed to be in the dark, for the red to come out, and all these years I have been feeling guilty. 😕 But Brad said light is a good thing. I wish I could just enjoy my blooming plants in the garden, instead of feeling anxiety for what I don't do. 😬 My favorite? The red ones with the very dark burgundy, almost black, leaves. I guess they remind me of the tail-end of our African Congo Grey parrot. 😬 Either way, the dark leaves, with the bright red, are gorgeous to look at. They would be a great Gothic decoration during October. They could add a gargoyle and a bat, on a stick, like the elf feet, and extend their sales season. 🎃💀🦇 I hope I can find those dark leaf beauties in stores this year. 🙂❤ Didn't know about all the different leaf shapes. 2 TBS of Epsom salts per gallon of tea drench. Just brought my fall plants I got a few violets but no mums this year wanted to try something different so I also got one grass for contrast & I already have the same cone flowers that added a pop

I have to disagree with what you're promoting, mums don't provide any of our native pollinators with what they need and are dropping in numbers. The farther a plant is taken out of it's native area the more care they generally need, that's what I see with mums. It's easy to look up in the news how our native bees are in trouble, the fault is UA-cam, Garden Centres and other promoting products like Mums instead of native aster or other which are great for our native pollinators.

Some time ago I had a beautiful mum that was overwintering in a pot on my balcony for several years. The ones that I bought for the garden never made it but that's no problem I have many beautiful Michaelmas daisies / autumn asters for the bees and butterflies. I always thought once one has reached the 1000 subscribers that's it 🤗 but to get the watch time is still a big job. I’ve planted a Love alot of Pink 2 weeks ago. Zone 7 She’s browning the leaves and looking very droopy. Can I cut her back now for fall or will I shock it more?

We're in 8b. The red mums I bought at lowes for a red, white,blue pot turned orange after 3 weeks. The orange mums for a Halloween pot have turned yellow after about 3 weeks. Both in full afternoon sun. Is that because of too much sun?

For the first time ever, all of my mums from last fall wintered over! I think it is more of a drainage problem if you have clay soil than cold weather. Have you tried Korean mums--Clara Curtis, Wil's Wonderful, Sheffield Hillside Pink? They are very hardy and will even spread, although not too aggressively.

Great video. Lots of very useful information! This was my first year trying to grow mum to sell. I learned that they will bloom in the early summer due to the light cycle. I did the pinching and it worked great on the ones that I pinched early… The ones that I let go a few weeks later.. not so good… I sunburned the leaves. Lost a few and the others recovered but made small plants. Enjoyed the video!

I got so lucky a few weeks ago & got this planter, with a pretty yellow Canna for $8! Of course, it's sprouting like 6 more shoots, just because Fall is right around the corner. 😣😫🥹😥 Lol! At least I've been able to enjoy it inexpensively!😂

I love mums in the fall but I’ve always planted them in pots on my porch. I’m in California zone 9a … very hot summers and fairly mild winters with lows mostly in the 40’s with the occasional low 30’s. Your garden mums are beautiful. I’m going to look for the perennial variety and try them in my garden. Question do you ever transplant your ‘porch’ mums into the garden? If so how do they perform?
