Wow, what a fun project! The Oklahoma Ponds' team transformed this front flower bed into a beautiful ecosystem garden pond in Stroud, Oklahoma. With an added feature! The stacked slate wall adds height in an already tight space and increases the sight and sound for visitors.

Large Koi Pond and Premium Waterfall by Oklahoma Ponds

This is our first UA-cam video and many more to come! We had a lot of fun creating this beautiful waterfall and koi pond. This is an approximately 4500 gallon ecosystem koi pond built in 5 days! Nearly every boulder was hand selected, strapped and carefully placed using our excavator. Very proud of our team on this one!

did you use mortar in the block wall or dry-stack it? Would the water just break down the mortar?

Could you please explain why you closed the overflow port? Is that something you do on all of your installations? Or what is your criteria for making that determination?
In this case there was nowhere to run the overflow to. The area was surrounded by sidewalk and the yard on the other side was flat so there was nowhere to to run the overflow pipe to thematic it could drain. In projects where the yard slopes we always use the overflow

Amazing work guys
I've been building garden ponds since 1986, having well over 1,000 under my belt. That clarified, I have never needed a skimmer because they're overpriced junk, along with every other filter Aquascapes sells. This is evidenced by the number one selling swimming pool accessory-- a net! That's how well even the typical, high grade swimming pool skimmer works-they don't. Additionally, I challenge anyone to visit the last page or two of any pond supply company and what will you find--all the chemicals required to keep your pond clean. Given the grand you just spent on filters, you shouldn't need chemicals. Shoot you should be able to drink that water! Save your money folks!

@@TheScrubDesigns Oh sure. Here's one. If you want to build a good pond you need to make it a self sustainable, microecosystem. It's not a bathtub so start at a zero depth, tapering it to the deep end holding the pump. All you need is a high volume pump and a water tube. Remember to build it so that it is easily serviceable down the road. I mean don't bury the damn water tube--hide it in the rocks so it's accessible, if need be. I can also tell Aquascape is designed by engineers and not actual pond builders because the absolute last thing you want to do is cut a hole in the rubber. It's just plain stupid. Additionally, Aquascape are just one standardized design of various sizes. Myself, I have never built any two ponds the same because no two customers or settings are the same. Can you explain some more the block wall construction
Hi, so we always over excavate for our retaining blocks. We dig down about 10” for our base material. On this one we put our base material overtop of our liner and underlayment. We double up on our underlayment to protect the liner. This project was a little more challenging because once the wall was constructed we laid our coping on top and it had to be perfectly flush with the existing coping around the pool

great video , could you please tell me where does the auto value filler goes?
Hi, we usually drill a 3/4” hole about 2.5” about water level and use the aquascape auto fill. You can then adjust the float to the desired water level. I hope this helps

Where do you buy the plastic crates from? Also, what can i do to prevent birds from dying and attracting snakes to my water feature? This is the problem I'm having in current pond. What can i add to water to keep clear, free of algae and to prevent filters from clogging? Thanks

Does it not freeze during the winter?
Great question! We recommend leaving most water features running all year, even through the winter. The moving water does not freeze and actually makes the pond safer by providing a hole in the ice for gases to exchange. Of course you will get frozen water around the pond’s perimeter which looks beautiful!
