I know an early crutch for me (pre nerf mind you) was OD Xiliarch WL with Varangians and Praetorians mob because it's what got me into the game and were the models I built, basically learning the game then eventually saying "OK, I'm ready to learn how magic works now" and start using Archimandrite and Heirodeacon. A step beyond the "unit as a crutch" idea was OD as a faction being a crutch to the entire Morale functionality of the game, when I started playing Wadhrun going "How does resolve in Combat Reform work? Or how to calculate regiment resolve with heroes/scaling"

This game feels like it was from another lifetime. I think this was my first game with this list.

Sharing thoughts on crutches; as an aggressively mid CS player I have a couple of obvious ones in the Talos and Chariots, but there was a point when I'd decided to put my CS aside and explore my Dweg for the last three months before the last big update and it made me painfully aware of how much I was leaning on the Strategic Stack to get my turn order right, and to occasionally right the ship if I managed to step on my own toes. Playing Dweg for that three months has had a noticeable impact on how often I guess wrong on my activation stack, and it took me a while to notice but it also made me better about recognizing when putting Chariots in MSU places to do MSU things is the right play. So sometimes relying on a crutch can make you play that piece a lot more defensively than you should.

Do objective markers ignore the rule where you can't march within 1 inch of an enemy?

Hypothetical change for reinforcement. Get rid of the roll, have a set number for a class come on each turn. 1 on the first turn, the 2 for the second, then 3rd turn all come in, all still restricted to class.

The new update for nords is fine, but losing my Blooded BowCho with Flank and Fire and Advance stung. I also used the old Blooded Supremacy so I havent had to roll for reinforcements in a while and that was super nice.

Its great to have help show up and tell you youve already fucked everything up.

Easy to overlook this since it's just removing something, but all the Mechanist spells had Scaling before. Removing that is a _huge_ boost to his effectiveness. People are _absolutely_ still going to take the Dolirates. The Phalangites were at 130/40, now they're at 150/40, which is weird. They leverage the Sacred Band's ability to cast on units with Auxiliaries much better than Agema do, you're going to see them. And I'll say this: reducing chariots to two per slot isn't going to make people take _fewer_ chariots.

_Most_ of the Dweghom regiments have free banners now. Can't speak for anyone else.

Mass showing he didnt play much Wad. -You could never get E3 on Tontorr or Apex, it was always the base upgrade from Conquest, which was 2. -You could always chant the battlecry coming onto the table. -the real change that you two didnt notice was that characters now contribute tokens if their regiment cones on before thier card is drawn. Why? Because you now just need to check if they are on the battlefield when drawing, instead of checking if they came in on that turn. - Chieftains abilities only affect [The Tribes] units, which is not all infantry. - Thunder Cheiftains Sup has only gained the [Speakers] tag effectively. Its just making him the dinosaur build guy. - Pred Supremacy changed substantially. - Scion Supremacy didnt change at all -Theres a lot more. But im an obsessive Wad fanboi.

Great video with some good tactical analysis. I’m new to the game so a bunch of it was lost n me but I enjoyed the explanation nonetheless the less. Maybe after more experience I’ll understand the nuances. That being said one thing that sticks out to me as I watch reports of conquest games is the disconnect between gorgeous models and the terrain. I get that these are ranked up tray based games, but is it just me or does the terrain look always fall a bit short? Maybe I’m way off but idk.

What hot key do you hold to get stopped a unit at board edge?

The Thorakites with the Mechanist isn't a guaranteed 10" charge, it's a guaranteed 16" charge. Fluid Formation is a beautiful thing.

I 100% relate to their experiences of frustration and dropping out for a time. I've been out for a year and a half as a Nords player but I'm starting to worm my way back in. Every game I played felt hopeless and trying to analyze after the fact only made me feel it was inevitable. But that was then and I'm ready to re approach this game with a better attitude. Maybe I just don't play some of the best Michigan players for my first couple of games as I learn the new edition. 😂

I can totally relate to a lot of what Cas is going through. Especially when it comes to brute forcing learning on your own terms. What helped me snap out of that was actually drawing and painting. My art teacher hounded me to use references for everything, and I refused for the longest time, letting my natural talent carry me. Before long I was bottom fragging my art class everything I did was fucking aweful. I reluctantly started usung references and boom explosion everything started to click. It turns out you cant draw what you dont know. I took the same metality to learning wargames and had much better success. Anyway cheering for you Cas good luck. I will now go back to the shadows and watching you and mass from the shadows.
