    How is your emergency kill switch wired? So that if it does overflow, it stops the HVAC and keeps your house dry before you find it by leaky water stains or puddles?

    • @DIY-Saver
      @DIY-Saver 26 днів тому

      Good question!!! My contractor didn't connect the overflow switch feature to my furnace. I haven't investigated installing it myself either. Since I live in Michigan and go south in the winter, I'm concerned with the overflow protection shutting the furnace down and causing my water pipes to freeze. Instead I've added Govee water sensors which send my phone an alert if water is detected on the floor next to the condensate pump. I'm considering placing the condensate pump inside a tray with the water sensor to provide more time to fix the overflow before it reaches other areas and causes damage.

    Great video. Especially the note about the screw, as I found may gave it bad reviews as they did not read the product info enough to read that it's self taping. Question though. Did you notice if your new one took a lot more force to turn on and off? We received a replacement from Delta and it takes maybe 4x the force to turn on and off. They told us it could loosen some withing a few weeks, a break in period. I'm just not sure.

    • @DIY-Saver
      @DIY-Saver Місяць тому

      @senecapierson9092 I recall mine being harder to turn on/off, so I loosened it a bit. You don't want to loosen it too much, or it may leak.

    • @senecapierson9092
      @senecapierson9092 Місяць тому

      @@DIY-Saver Thanks. I tried loosening it a little, but did not make any change. With the cartridge outside of the unit, when I hold the metal bit and then go to turn/spin the plastic end of the body, the old one was pretty easy to turn. The new one was pretty hard to turn. I called Delta back and they are sending me a new one. This one was a replacement for the original, which they sent that with a new sprayer and hose itself, due to white floating particles we were getting with just this 1 faucet (pex plumbing for the whole house, and I have whole house filters, and no other faucet in the house had that issue). Luckily it fixed the issue, but takes much more force. So guess were assuming that the cartridge sent was just defective; hopefully the replacement for this replacement will be good lol

    It's not a bad tip - except for one important thing: The vast majority of screw-on lids are not watertight, much less airtight. They usually come with an aluminum film that you remove when you first open them, and that's really the only thing keeping the stuff inside from spoiling. Soda bottles are one of the few exceptions that are pretty tight. If you look closely it has a flexible liner in the cap that makes that possible unlike in your jar, as well as much deeper threading. The threading it's waterproof, but it helps get a firm grip to keep the cap liner in tension. I'm about 99% certain that the containers you show here aren't watertight. I don't live in the US, but I've seen several similar ones where I live and I actually use them for storage myself. It's easy to check. Just fill it with water, screw the lid, then start shaking it a few times upside down. You will probably feel a few drops start to seep out. This isn't ideal for storing paint because it means it will slowly be drying up at the very least (and potentially also open to bacterial growth). It will happen at just a fraction of the speed of a fully open lid, but over a year or more that can be enough to ruin a paint. You can modify many of them to work better though. The poor, but easy way is to fold several layers of ceran wrap or similar thin plastic film over the opening before screwing on the lid. The flexible plastic will help fill in the airgaps and hopefully make a decent seal. This can sometimes be sufficient. Second way is to plastic bag the whole container and seal the bag well. Inelegant but it works. The third option that I prefer (but is significantly more work) is to use silicon caulk on inside ring of the lid, and then screw down the lid not all the way, but about 70-80% - then off again. This will leave a perfect imprint of a flexible sealing ring. Let the silicone cure now before using. To prevent the silicone sticking to the container itself and making a terrible mess you just spray that part well with some soapy water. You can clean it easily when it's all cured. This can make for a solid container you can reuse many times. At least if you use glass or polypropylene plastic which is relatively easy to clean cured paints from. PET plastic like you have there is much more accepting of paint, so it might only be usable once. I've never tried paint with PET because I knew it would probably be a problem to clean :) Ok, sorry for the rant but hopefully you got something useful from it :)

    • @DIY-Saver
      @DIY-Saver 4 місяці тому

      Hello TheStigma, thank you for your feedback. I agree that the seal on the container used for storing paint is very important. And people using this method will want to take it into consideration when choosing a replacement container. As for my experience with the use of a plastic nut jar, the paint has been stored for about two years now and it's not showing any signs of leaking or drying out. In addition to your suggestions, I advise people who try this method for paint storage to make sure they clean the lip of the jar after each use to ensure a good seal.

    I love how detailed this video is. It is a great resource if you need to replace the valve. HOWEVER, don't assume this is your problem if you're not getting water from the dispenser. Some further research/videos proved that in my case the water line had frozen where it runs past the icemaker. Defrosting the line fixed this same problem. As always, do your due diligence before spending a bunch of time and money..

    • @DIY-Saver
      @DIY-Saver 5 місяців тому

      This is a good point. I'm curious, were your ice makers working? Or, were those lines frozen as well? Also, what temp do you have your fridge and freezer set to? I had an issue where water was pooling at the bottom of the fridge because the drain line froze. My theory was the insulation around the drain is insufficient so I raised the temp of the fridge to 38 and the freezer to 0 degrees and haven't had an issue since then. Thanks for your feedback.

It ALSO tells you the handle switch AND solenoid are both working, as you stated. I solved the problem by removing both drawers next to the filter housing. Then I smacked sharply both sides of the rear of the housing where the valves were at (away from the LEDs) with the handle of a medium sized screw driver. I tested the water dispenser, still no water. I placed both drawers back in and retested. BINGO! Fresh water came out nice and strong! This repair was FREE except I changed the filter at 9 months instead of my normal 12 months to eliminate that possibility. IF the valve itself can be obtained separately from the housing you would save $230 by not needlessly buying the housing. All you need are numbers from the valve itself to find the correct replacement. Oh yeah, I SAW how the connections were permanent between the valve, filter and reservoir, but that is easily spliced. Fortunately, I found the best solution anyway. And why does Samsung literally make over 2000 DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBERS of refrigerators? Couldn't they get it right with the 3rd or 4th model, RIGHT???

      I did the same smacking and used blow dryer to warm up the front left corner in the ice maker area because there was a chunk of frost on a diverter plate.. And SHAZAAM back to normal pressure.

    I have the same exact building I store my lawn mower in. A few years back we had a bad storm that produced some hail and did some damage to my building. I have been looking for a way to cover the holes abd try to keep water out. But now the wood foundation is deteriorating really bad too.

    Thanks for providing this very helpful video from start-to-finish. I have the very same exact model Samsung refrigerator as yours here, as well, and it took me a few hours at least, but would have been much longer had I not had this video of yours to follow along with for certain. Lastly, after installing the new "water filter assembly" unit here, now my water dispenser is back to "DESPENSING" once again. Many Thanks!!!

    Awesome video! I'm getting error code 33E but it's the top ice maker not working. The lower ice maker works. Will replacing this heater fix the top ice maker or is there a separate heater for the top ice maker and if so, do you know the part #? My model is RF323TEDBSR/AA.

      Hi qwiksilver, Please keep in mind that I'm NOT an Appliance Technician and don't have all the answers. I assume the top ice maker has a heater; but I have no experience replacing it. If it does have a heater, I have to believe it has a different part number. I recommend researching it further or contacting an appliance repair company. Best wishes on your repairs and please come back and share what you find.

      @DIY-Saver Thanks! I spoke to Samsung and unfortunately with my specific model you cannot replace just the heater on the top ice maker, the entire auger assembly needs replaced. Part number is DA97-12540G.

      @DIY-Saver My line must’ve been frozen. I guess my temp was too low. My brother suggested turning it up to 38-39. After about a day or so it resumed working. 😊 But now my ice maker has stopped working. Ugg 🤦‍♀️ Fortunately I have no problem living without ice.

    Is this the same repair steps for the 4 door samsung? Mine works but it dribbles out - starts to "hop around" with a faster flow then flows but very slowly. So frustrating.

    • @DIY-Saver
      @DIY-Saver 6 місяців тому

      Sorry, it doesn't sound like the same repair would apply to your refrigerator. Have you tried replacing the filter? After replacing the filter, did you run a couple gallons of water through it (this step helps to stop dripping)?

    • @jonathanwoods9843

      My water dispenser has a similar issue. I'm trying to figure it out. I think there may be multiple issues. I found one video that shows there can be a problem with the water freezing in the line at the top of the refrigerator. The solution in that video was to run the line externally, which required creating a slot/hole in the cover through which the water line would pass. I've experienced the variable flow that you've mentioned, which I think is air in the line. This condition is temporary in my experience. Sometimes the water flow stops. Removing the filter and giving it some forceful blows with a rubber mallet has had some effect to restore flow. I think that's another issue. When that should have worked, but the water still doesn't dispense, I can hear a sort-of crunch/squeeze sound from the top area of the fridge where the water dispenser line is. I think this is water pressure pushing against an ice blockage. At this point, I still haven't fixed the problem. I'm just looking at what other people have done about it and trying to apply their knowledge gained from their experience.

      I did replace my lower ice maker once. The top ice maker is another issue. I have to defrost it about once every 3 months. It's a long drawn out process since I discovered it has an ice build-up on the inside of the ice maker. I've found that I actually have to disconnect the power after defrosting to get the upper ice maker to start working again.
