    Aww...that's too bad with the weather for you in Ninh Binh. I like the misty, mystical look, but it would have been nice to have some blue skies and sun, too. I didn't know that temple complex had an old area because other vloggers never went there. I really like the old stuff. The lotus are in bloom during your boat tour. And boy, you're not afraid to try anything. Snail, no big deal. I personally LOVE snails, but I know Westerners aren't fond of them.

      @@Sams_solo_adventures You should go to snail street or wherever it is they sell a bunch of seafood like clams, snails, etc. They have amazing looking stuff there. People rave about the snails in coconut sauce, but I salivate for all the stuff that has peanuts and scallion oil on them.

  • @doodahgurlie
    @doodahgurlie 11 місяців тому

    Wow, your first meal of the day was trung vit lon (fertilized duck egg). That is BRAVE and deserves an applause. Hahaha! I might be able to do the quail egg version in tamarind sauce - those actually look rather good. But you went for the OG version, so good for you. Also, you found a good banh cuon place, but usually banh cuon is served in a pile (well, not the egg ones) and they come with the cinnamon sausage in the north. Glad you found someone to guide you as she did a good job. The banh xeo is a Vietnamese sizzling crepe (pancakes to me are thick, so I wish they’d stop calling them that). But it’s a Central Vietnam dish, not southern. Although the version you ate was large so technically, that is from the south since the Central version is usually smaller. You should try to go on a real food tour or two while you are there. There’s lots more foods to try like pho tron, nem nuoung, bun bo Hue, cha ca la vong, banh tom (with all the fixings), there’s also a fried puffy pho with a stir fry, bun ca, etc. If you want rice, go for the homestyle places that cater to the common or working people. That’s what Vietnamese people would eat at home on the daily.
