Nice to see a recap. It was a really fun game to follow!
Thank you for following it, it was a fun game to play though to the end!
I loved watching these series!
The game sure was a great one! Thank you for watching!
Are the flag .stl files available to be downloaded?
What game is this?
Global War 1936, it is a board game made by Historical Board Gaming. But here I am playing it online through Tabletop Simulator
You probably figured it out by now but the card deck was a missprint. It's weird how the printing company would print most decks properly but somehow manage to get a few wrong. You'd think it would be all good or all bad. Sorry for the mishap.
Thank you for the comment General Hand Grenade, it was a comical error to open up and see, but HBG is very nice and easy to work with. They just threw in the correct deck with my last order so it is all good now. I hope to get more GW19414 games in, but the ones I played without that card deck were still very fun!
I haven’t watched your full video yet but when the opportunity presents I LOVE buying a minor IC with Germany in Greece, for exactly the reasons you said. The thing that makes it dominant (but costly) is to add an airbase. It allows a huge amount of flexibility for German or Italian air, plus protects fleet if you need to tuck in you forces away from a combined US/UK fleet off Gibraltar, which in a longer game is a near certainty. Most games this money is better spent on other material, but if you find yourself getting the upper hand in that region it presents a ton of options.
An online version of Global War 1936? How do I get
We use the game Tabletop Simulator to play our games online. Someone has spent a lot of time really making a nice mod for the game that has everything needed to play the game and then some!
Hey Elite, do you still play on your table? We have 4 people who are wanting to get a game of 36 in if you're interested. We're doing a game using our physical maps only.
I do still play on my table, but for the summer I have not been able to roll out the map for a YT war as I am in a different space for another month yet. Since it will be a while yet I might have to let you guys get going without me this time around, but I appreciate the offer so keep me in mind if you guys finish and want a round 2!
@@EliteGolden I appreciate it man, I will definitely keep you in mind for next game.
Wait wait the game doesnt come with units?
Haha, unfortunately, that is correct. Historical Board Gaming sells their game as just the map to play on and all the player aids. It is a good idea to use Axis and Allies 1914 pieces since it is a similar game in so far as the style of the game which will take care of most of the playing components, but then building out the rest of the game takes lots more money and time! Great game in my opinion, but surely one that cannot be purchased in a single day. I have slowly upgraded my game from colored chips to units over the course of a few years
@@EliteGolden sounds like a scam to me bro. Once they get their head out of their ass I'll buy
Love your opening sequence. Nice production quality.
Good video keep it up
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!
Congrats, you won my GW85 giveaway. Technically you were runner-up, but the winner was a scammer not a gamer. My contact info is on my video.
@@CaptainG9318 thank you so much, I’ll DM you on Facebook soon here!
Your flags; please, where did you get them?
I made them myself with a 3D printer. Took a long while but I think it makes the board look so much better!
@@EliteGolden They are gorgeous. Well done.
Nice video! I like tech, as long as it doesn't tilt the game. The tech in GW36 is a good system, as you can see what might happen before it does, and you can prepare. Just FYI: the AA dice to happen as a First Strike in battles, but not in Strat bombing, just to be confusing. I'm in the middle of a remote G40 game with a guy who is way better at it than I am, but that's the best way to get better! Italy is boxed in, but Japan just captured Calcutta, and my IJN is keeping a massive USN at bay...for now. He has done a masterful job at protecting Moscow, so I am sort of playing defense on the Eastern Front, as he doesn't have a lot of punch, and I can feed infantry into the area for cheap. Good video - subbed!
Thank you so much for the view and the comment, Hilltop Pillbox! I have found that my technology house rule does tilt the game, but proportionally to the way the game was already going. What I mean by that is if a nation is collecting a lot of money, then they get to roll a lot of tech so it speeds up the game in favor of those who have more money and are presumably already closer to victory. I still have A LOT of playtesting before it comes close to being more balanced, but I rationalize the pitfall as speeding the game up where one side can more easily snowball to victory instead of being forced to slog out an already lengthy game. Thanks for the rules clarification, I have so many rulebooks in my head between all the Axis and Allies titles, Global War 1939, '36, and '14 I may never get through a game perfectly! Your remote game sounds like a fun one for sure especially with tipping points about to take place on both sides where Russia is holding and the Americans are at bay, very interesting! I always love to hear how games go for others and what strategies work or do not go so well. Perhaps the path to victory for you in that game lies in the Pacific with the loss of the FEC and the dormant nature of the US. If you are wanting to get a game in and are looking for another player, just give me a shout!
@@EliteGolden Interesting thoughts. I think the main reason tech works so well in GW36 and GW39 is simply the D12 system. By increasing attack or defense by 8.5%, it's not game-breaking. A 16.7% shift can be. Yes, the G40 game I'm in right now is compelling. He is a stronger player, to be sure, as I play every version out there and haven't focused on getting strong on any specific one. I understand the troubles with multiple rule books swirling around your head! The U.S. isn't "dormant", per se, just having to pause and reconsider, now that I lured him to Johnson Island (no port) and have a massive fleet in the Carolines. He can't attack, and I really can't attack him when he returns to Pearl. But, the longer that stand-off goes, the more Japanese tanks rip around the Middle East and (hopefully) into the USSR. If you are interested, please send me an email at hilltoppillbox@gmail.com and let me know when you are available. I have another guy on the line wanting to do a GW39 game in September, so that might work. Let me know! I'm off to Italy tomorrow until August, so I won't be putting any content out, but feel free to leave me an email, and I will catch up when I return. Cheers!
Your fighter is not on MAP so it couldn't hit the coastal sub (unless the sub wished to engage anyways, which i imagine it would have)
What game it is
The game is Global War 1936 by Historical Board Gaming. It’s a really fun game that is a step up from Axis and Allies
Absolutely insane, sneak moves like this always feel awful in casual games, but in a tournament, you seize every advantage! Great play there!
I totally agree, kinda tough for in person games since some is gonna have a tough time the rest of the game. But of course it’s a tournament so everyone is trying scrounge up as many points as possible! Crazy that strat bombers in Romania can pull that off
I’m used to the roundal nation markers. Where did you get the flag style markers? Love them!
I 3D printed them myself actually, it was a lot of fun but also it a while! I think Historical Board Gaming sells something similar if you really like them.
Board games 10.0
Coastal def ship defend at a 6, on round 1 they would have got 1 hit. They also get one hit on the last round, and by my count since you may have had only 1 dd at that point, it might not have killed it.
Thank you for watching the video so closely! Some of the other guys in the game noticed that as well so we got that fixed right up. If only I would have panned down a little further the defensive battle board.
Dude, you don't open a video about italy waging war in 1939, with " Bella Ciao ". Cool video nonetheless? Keep it up!
Haha, you are right. The substance of the song does not really fit the substance of the video, but it is such a great song I just have to use it!

the volume is too low
Thank you for the feedback, I will try to work on that so the intro and video portion are more tuned
Which game are you playing?
The game is called Global War 1936. It is similar to Axis and Allies or Risk, but a little bigger! The game is made by Historical Board Gaming
@@EliteGolden Thanks, nice vídeo
FYI, your Intro music is very loud and your mic audio is quiet
Thank you for the feedback. I’ll try to get that fixed
This is amazing man, I didn't think I would watch the whole video but 50 minutes later still sitting through it. I like your customs, where could I possibly look to find some?
I am very glad you enjoyed the video. As for the customs, all the playing pieces either came from the game (Axis and Allies 1914) or from Historical Board Gaming. HBG makes a lot of fantastic A&A style miniatures and I have definitely made my fair share of orders from there! The flags are my own personal custom creations that I 3D printed with the machine I have. I think the closest thing to them on the open market would be an acrylic flag that Historical Board Gaming also carries. Again, thank you very much for your viewership. I hope to find some time to put together some more of these videos soon!

good video
Thanks for the comment. Should be a good game ahead
In the end luck kinda balance for germany, i got a lot of good tech rolls and a few important battles went good, Italy didn't have time to get his luck back ahah. This strat Is not that Op for the axis, It relay on different conditions and the capability of making the allies seems strong in early so that the soviet don't help them (if soviet help the allies in early then Is bad for them as well, if UK hold and you have USA collect 45 to 50 ipp from turn 3 then the allies are gonna win).
That didnt age well.
The Axis have really outplayed the Allies this game, except for Italy 😅
It has been a really fun game to try out the early war Axis strategy! However, the Allied response proved to be too much for Italy in this game, haha! Rome falling to Free France is not something I thought I would ever see!
@@EliteGolden it didn’t help that Italy was diced every single early battle
@@timewarp1994 I do feel bad a little for MP7 this game. His luck was only good enough to let him take the major objectives, but nothing more. The turn where his aircraft all missed in just about every battle he had was funny to watch, but also as his teammate I just wanted some things to go a little better for him. The Allies did a great job capitalizing on the unfortunate situation MP7 found himself in after each round. Really fun game, but even with MP7's bad luck, the Axis are still squarely in the driver's seat so I think this strategy may be a little overpowered...
What is the game you're playing?
The game is called Global War 1936. It is the fourth version of the game and it’s made by Historical Board Gaming. It’s similar to Risk or Axis & Allies

Where can i buy this game
Amazon or from the Renegade Games website, it’s 2 games (Axis & Allies Europe 1940 and Pacific 1940) combined, there’s also a couple smaller A&A games as well (1941, 1942). 1941 is also available from some** Barnes & Nobles
Thanks for the game EliteGolden! Pretty surprised to hear about that sneaky KMT/Japan non-aggression pact LOL
Are there any thoughts on balance? After a few games it feels like the Allies have an advantage. The games the centrals have won had everythinggo right for them at the end, but playing a long game just to try and get lucky at the end, or basically throwing the game with high risk/reward move early feels not fun. Anyways I'm sure I could have it all wrong. Any thoughts?
I have only played two games and neither lasted past 1916, but my thoughts on balance for the game is that the game is very Entente weighted. I think the game tries to make up for that fact by handing so many of the random events to the Central Powers, but those do not make or break the game especially when you can plan for certain ones in advance to mitigate the possible effects. The Central Powers can do well enough in the beginning, but with enough coordination, the advances on all fronts can be ground to a halt. Even if the Central Powers got Japan and Italy on their side, I think that would not be enough to win. Funny enough Japan going Central Powers feels like a death sentence since the USA climbs in income so much faster with every action the Japanese take. An extremely fun game all in all though, and perhaps my playgroup was playing with too many WW2 strategies, but until I can find a decent Central Powers strategy I think that the Entente will reliably win.
Thanks for your reply. I have similar thoughts but like you I have only played about 4 games, but complete games. My opponent and I are took 1-2 games to remember to use special units, cash and carry ect-which helped the Central powers, but now 4 games in we are playing more optimally and the Entente seem favored. However 4 games is admittedly not enough to try all available Central strategies @@EliteGolden

The song is a rendition of Bella Ciao from the game Hearts of Iron 4. Here is the link to the full song. ua-cam.com/video/u-qTuXDEnFo/v-deo.html

@EliteGolden I've just stumbled across your channel and I'm loving the extra pieces, aircraft bases and colouring. Can you point me to any resources so I can up my game? I couldn't see an unboxing or video about all the extra stuff you use. Thanks!
Thank you very much, I am glad you like all the upgrades! Many of the things that I use on the board I actually made myself with a 3D printer, so unfortunately there was nothing to really unbox, haha. As for the many pieces that I use as units, they come from either the base game or Historical Board Gaming. I have spent more money on HBG products than I would like to admit, but since I have been collecting for many years at this point, I had already bought many units before starting my UA-cam channel. Also, HBG is the provider I bought the metal flight stands and the national build plates from. I hope this helps and I would be happy to elaborate on anything to assist as well! I always thought that tricking out this game was almost as fun as actually playing it
Thanks for the reply! I'm very much at the beginning of this journey, but if I can get my game half as pretty as yours looks I'll be a happy man! I was worried you'd say most was 3D printed; I can't quite justify buying one yet ha I'll definitely check out HBG for the flight stands - if you have a commission link or anything, let me know and I can make sure to use it when I buy In terms of the colour tips you have on the aircraft & ships - these look like the out of the box pieces but with tips added? Can you explain what/how you've added these as my players & I often have issues easily distinguishing between these at a glance while playing Thanks!
@@chicken312281 The colored tips on the aircraft and ships are for easy identification. Many of my friends have had a tough time with it in the past so this just makes it easier. All of the pieces are from the out-of-box game, so no extras there. All I did was go to my local board gaming store and get some figurine paint. Then it is up to you on what colors you want to denote what unit and where to paint it. I chose the front, back, and superstructure of each boat so that the color is visible, but not overbearing.
How is KMT building Mountain infantry without their factory? I am not sure they can. I believe all they can build are militia.
You’re totally correct. The other guys around the table also mentioned that to me so it will be fixed come the German turn
A very enjoyable watch, swinging one way, then the other. I think you probably called it at the right time.
I appreciate the comment. It was a very fun game (and a long one at that) but the best part was to see the swinging balance of power. It was either side's game for the vast majority of the turns!
"No house rules." meanwhile just a giant rail gun in the background. (Nice video.)
Haha, I did not notice that! Good catch, but I assure you that no French or German artillery pieces hit any harder. No matter how cool they look.
Haven't seen any 1940 or any global before this, looks fun. I vaguely remember techs from 1941, but even if you got a tech it was random so often useless unless lucky and then it's a bit OP. So I like the automatic tech tokens a lot, so you don't have to sacrifice IPC for them. And that you can choose what to research, very nice. I would have liked to see a huge naval battle, any reason Japan wasn't more aggressive? Especially combined with its air force it looked way more powerful.
Thank you for the comment about the technology, I also like when players can just receive the ability to go for tech rather than seek it out for money. When that burden is put on the players I find that they will almost never go for technology. As for the reason there was no aggressive Japan or naval battle, that can be chalked up to Japan wanting to face one challenge at a time. I almost always go for a defeat of China first (which has its pros and cons) then turn to India and the USA. I am currently beginning to record another gameplay video so perhaps I will make Japan a bit more aggressive just to see how Japan with the tech rules plays out against the Allies. Maybe Japan will get some good luck on naval tech!
