I've installed Sonoma and Sequoia on two different partitions on my MacBook Pro mid 2012 (2,5 Ghz i5 with 8 Gb of ram) and it runs pretty fine. The Geekbench score improved on Sequoia with about 20%. I got 526 Single-Core score and 1020 Multi-Core score. iPhone Mirroring only works on MacBooks with M processors

Regarding the slow boot process: you are on OCLP? That generelly takes a bit longer than standard Apple setup. But if you are running more than one disk, you maybe need to set the default boot drive manually. Otherwise the Mac searches his boot disk first. And that takes some time. Check it in Preferences > General > Startup Disk

RAM is only 1066Mhz because your CPU's don't support more than that. You need to upgrade the CPU's to be able to see 1333Mhz RAM;

Theres something about Mac Pro 5,1 that makes the computer read the ram as 1066 when you use 128 gb ram if you used only 64 gig ram it would read at the correct speed of 1333 = its a limitation of that Mac Model..... My Trash Can model ( 6,1 ) is the same but I only use 64 gig ram in that baby so it reads it at the correct speed

Just done one also mine is a single cpu model ive put a 5690 cpu and 64gb of ram and a nvme also a intel wifi 6e card and running a rx5700xt (no mod to power not needed ) im running linux because gaming on macos is rubbish im afraid love the mac pro

Radeon VII would be really funny and fits with the aesthetic of the Mac Pro, however they are known to run hot and die fast. Use at your discretion.

I dont know if Im the only one who had this problem, but going back to catalina, i couldnt format the ssd, i had to to it trough terminal, it wouldnt let me do it via disk utility, and also, apps like lightroom wont work (I assume graphics drivers or something)

As for me, I just purchased a 2019 MBP 16”. It has 32gb of RAM and 512-SSD. It is a core i7, not the i9. It arrives next week and it cost me $950. I could have easily got the m1/m2 for cheaper. Hence it’s also my first MacBook I ever owned. I wanted the starlight M2 soooo bad. Then I was looking at the 2015 MBP, but settled for the 2019. The reason why I didn’t buy it. Was, because I’m not going to settle for a 13 inch screen. My older windows laptop which is a “Dell” is 15.4-16 inches. I’m not going to settle for a top of the line laptop. Just, because it’s the newest product. For me, I bought it, because it’s an affordable 16 inch laptop, inexpensive and it still runs smoothly. Just, because there is a better version out there. Does not mean that the older generation laptops are horrible (except for the 2017 macbook) the 2012 MacBook is running strong still, the 2015 is still a really nice option too.

After update, the photoanalysisd is not working and its not scanning people faces. Any idea how to fix this?

I have an iMac 12,2 (27” 2011) I am running Ventura perfectly on it. I am using an AMD WX4170 4GB which I flashed to get bootscreen (A bootrom mod with UEFItool is also needed) I added a WIFI card from a 2015 MBP to enable Handoff and all the other nice features. Boot drive is a 2TB SSD with a 10TB HDD partitioned in half for time machine backups and scratch space for data recovery projects. For a 12 year old computer it’s running brilliantly. A quick google of “iMac 2011 GPU upgrade macrumors” will bring you to a forum with all the needed info and supported graphics cards.

Thanks for this. Are you satisfied with how the 15" is running on Ventura? I am debating to update my A1398 late 2013, which also has DG, but I have read that in some cases it slows down and heats easily - which was always an issue with these machines.
