Special collab with VCR King! Review Of His Sharp VC H828 VCR
You know that unfortunately, Mr Magnetoscope is not among us anymore. So, obviously, he cannot make new videos. However, his friend VCR King came to Quebec City for a few days in July and he made a VCR review at the exact same place where Mr Magnetoscope was making his own videos. So, it's a VCR King video, made at Mr Magnetoscope's place! I'm happy that this kind of "collab" did happen!

Testing if the GoVideo DDV9000 makes good copies
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
In september 2019, Mr Magnétoscope and The VCR King made a review about the dual tape recorder GoVideo DDV9000. They showed every angles, the buttons, the inside, the picture quality, etc. but did not try its main feature: copying tapes. Does it make good copies? Is the copy feature working at all? I was also interested by the "one touch copy" feature. So, let's try this. For the complete revie...

A short update about Mitsubishi HS-U54
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 роки тому
Mr. Magnetoscope reviewed this VCR twice and both times it was showing lines in the picture. He was supposed to bring this VCR to the recycling center but since it's still there, I guess he changed his mind. I'm currently trying all his VCRs in order to determine if they are all working well, and the HS-U54 seems to be working fine, without any line in the picture. Maybe the lines were related ...

A Late 1980's RCA VCR built by Hitachi. I stole it from the recycling center. I only cleaned a belt that turned into goo and made a mess on the pulleys, and put a new belt, and now the VCR is fully functional, or almost because I'm not sure if the Hi-Fi audio works.

Nice video, I found it while looking for ways to fix this exact model of DVD/VHS player. I don’t know why it’s even broken. Maybe I’ll ask my dad and he’ll tell me what’s wrong. It’s from my much younger years and the CRT that was with it is probably in a trash heap while we only have one of the two speakers. Maybe I’ll fix it up once I get even older and use it for playing older formats.

James L. Anderson: (exclaims) Well... okay, we watching a few Movies And T.V. We watch a sports movies, a action-adventure, a family film, a comedy crime drama sci-fi, a horror, and a classic monsters. We watched some good movies. Some bad movies. And overall, eh... it makes me wanna puke. Like a cat. (James pretends to puke like a cat coughing up a hairball, licks his hand, and wipes it in his hair) And then what do they do? They make a Videocassette Player add-on. Yeah. The Mitsubishi Precision Turbo Drive 4 Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR. There's somethin' about this that perplexes me. You have a LG DVD Player, that not many people owned, so you make an add-on that requires owning the VCR Player. What were they THINKING?! It should've just been its own individual game system. Besides, the fuckin' thing has its own Single Plug. So that's two. One for the LG DVD Player, and one for the Mitsubishi Precision Turbo Drive 4 Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR. And that's some cool-lookin' design. It looks just like a Sony DVPSR510H DVD Player, and Sony SLV-N50 VHS VCR. Yeah, it's a Sony DVPSR510H DVD Player, and Sony SLV-N50 VHS VCR! What a perfect analogy. I would review some movies, but there's one problem: Sony DVD Player doesn't work. Not even the cartridge slot, so I can't even play my regular LG DVD Player while this thing's connected. I tried using different Single Plug, but nothing worked. It simply won't read the disc. So I sent this broken piece of junk to my Pops Leroy El Toro “Papa” Anderson to see if he could fix it. He invented The Xbox 360 S, (also known as the Xbox 360 Slim), a fully functional Original XBOX made out of a 360. with Kinect Sensor Nyko Intercooler STS for Xbox 360 Slim He also Sony Blu-Ray Player, which plays DVD, Blu-Ray, Sports, and games. So game mechanisms are his specialty. If he can't fix it, then it's screwed. Here's his diagnosis. Leroy El Toro Anderson: Ah, yes. The Mitsubishi Precision Turbo Drive 4 Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR. What a steamin' pile of freakin' crap that was. I wanna make sure there's nothing wrong with the console itself first, just to rule it out. So I plug in a movie, push the power button, the Blue screen comes careening towards me in the foreground, and after a particularly hilarious startup sequence, I'm playin' some Football. WHOA! So now I know there's nothing wrong with the console itself. Time to move on to the Movie Disc unit. So I plug it in, hook up the additional 47 cables that came with it, push the power button, the blue screen comes careening towards me in the foreground, and... the blue screen, indicating a connection problem. So, the first thing I did was deep-clean every single contact point on both the console and the Movie Disc unit. I turned it on, Startup Screen. Then I went back and made physical adjustments to every contact point in both the console and unit so it'd make a more solid connection. Turned it on, Startup Screen. Finally, I just said "Forget it!" and directly wired those two scum-of-the-earth together, completely bypassing any and all cartridge ports and ruling out the remote chance of there ever being any kind of connection issue between the two systems. I turned it on and guess what? Startup Screen! So at this point I pretty much just gave up and shipped everything back to him, along with a Exxis Er0024 24 Hour Time Lapse Video Cassette Recorder and Magnavox MWD2205 DVD/VCR Combination Player, which pretty much just says, "I'm sorry man. This thing is just too crappy for me to work on." I think, between the flaming "Darn you!" Two finger Startup Screens and getting at at the same time, this machine has become self-aware and does not wanna be repaired. That is my diagnosis. Papa out. James L. Anderson Well, thanks for tryin'. And thanks for Exxis Er0024 24 Hour Time Lapse Video Cassette Recorder and Magnavox MWD2205 DVD/VCR Combination Player from my grandmother plug would work, but a cutting-edge shooting Halo doesn't? There's somethin' wrong here. And ya know what? I blew 64 bucks ($64) on this thing. So, you know what I did? Bought another one. Yeah! And guess what? It doesn't work either! So, that's about $208 total I blew on one dead Sony DVD Player And one dead XBOX 360. And these things are rare. So when the only two that I can manage to get my hands on just don't work, that leads me to believe that these things MOST DEFINITELY are self-aware! They don't wanna work! Ya can't make 'em! They just REFUSE to be reviewed! And I've never had that happen. So, the end. I gotta watch a Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. (James takes out Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade DVD And VHS with craft attached to it, takes the tape out of the case puts the tape in his VCR opens the LG DVD Player, and literally watch a movie in it like a Sony DVPSR510H DVD Player, and Sony SLV-N50 VHS VCR, while the Thrash Metal version of the Super Rad Movie And Video Game Autism Kid theme song plays)

Ofcourse it all depends on how small the gaps on the video heads are. They probably have a different angle also to mask the interlaced video frames. Really amazing they managed to do that in VP speed. If they would have implemented the same FM upconvert technology from Betamax HiFI that interlaces the audio into the video signal it might have been the perfect audio recorder to use.

Why is that VHS-C (and VHS-C tapes themselves) adapters and video-8s both make that loud ticka ticka sound when rewinding and fast forwarding? And I mean both when it's playing and when it's in stop mode. Although in play it's not as loud. I don't mean ticka-ticka like VHSes do. That sound in not grating. It's not particularly a pleasant sound but it's not grating. I'm talking about these. And it's not just the VHS-C adapters itself. The Hi8 is equally grating to the ear, and that's a tape reel itself. The VHS-C adapters is a grating combo of the tape and the machinary, it's like a mini VCR operating under a VCR.

That unit isn't Hi8, it's only Digital 8, it doean't even have stereo in and out, so you bought it on a whim and didn't see it working before buying? That's a good way to just gamble your money, unless you know how to repair such things, you'll never get it working, if you don't know how to repair such things, if you find a place that can repair it, you'll throw lots of money at it for nothing, it's not even stereo, only mono!
