Ravel Blues, Messiaen Louange à l’éternité de l’enfant Jésus, Bartók 1st Violin Sonata
Veronique De Raedemaeker - violin
Alexander Declercq - piano
Duo Altiler
Live Recording at the legendary Studio Toots in Brussels on 2/2/2024 for the program of “De Twintigers” at Radio Klara.
The music of Ravel, Messiaen and Bartók is so incredibly colourful, beautifully layered and touching, each in its own way.
Thanks to the great sound and video crew of Radio Klara, we were able to have a wonderful time recording some of the most special works of these 20th century composers. To be able to combine the audio and visual aspects of performing music, gives an extra insight into the liveliness and intensity of the classical arts. It is an exciting search to keep looking for ways to be able to share music with an audience from such a close perspective.
Program:
- Maurice Ravel: Blues from the sonata nr 2 in G major for violin and piano
- Olivier Messiaen: Louange à l’immortalité de l’enfant Jésus
-Béla Bartók: last mvt from the sonata nr 1 for violin and piano

Veronique De Raedemaeker - violin Audio and video recording by Julius Gass In the score of this caprice for solo violin by Paganini one can read the work starts with the Italian word “Amoroso”. In the singing double stops, we can imagine a romantic duet with Romeo and Juliet. Young and infinite love sounds through the warm timbre of the melodies. The flying staccato in the second part reminds o...

Veronique De Raedemaeker - violin Alexander Declercq - piano audio and video recording by Julius Gass Some months ago, Alexander and I recorded with Julius Gass the dramatic musical love story “Poème” by Ernest Chausson. In fact, this music is very strongly inspired by the novel “The Song of Triumphant Love” by Ivan Turgenev. The story is situated in 16th century Ferrara, where the two friends ...

Johann Sebastian Bach - Adagio, Sonata for violin solo in G Minor BWV 1001

Veronique De Raedemaeker - violin Some time ago I found this beautiful white church just minutes away from my home, at the riverside. The acoustics and simplicity of the place inspired me in such a way, that the improvising and dramatic character of this Adagio by Bach could become one with the place itself. I would like to share this moment with you, enjoy!

Great! Please the saranbade
Prachtig
Eccellente, straordinaria
The arpeggiated passage is one of the most expressive I've ever heard! The voicing is sublime.❤
Sounded amazing, only critique is that occasionally the contact point would shift and there would be playing just above the fingerboard
Very moving play, I love your interpretation of Bach <3 !
Przecudownie… 🥰🥰🥰
incroyable, félicitations
Best arpeggio I've ever heard
😌✨️🔅💓🎶🎻🎶💓🔅✨️
The only interpretation I've heard that makes me feel the dance of the music
oh my god, thank you thank you veronique, this is unbelievably revealing and consoling and convincing and moving and admirable, chapeau and brava!!
Can you play the entire piece in the dance fashion of the first half page? It is easy to go ‘sentimental’ with this piece. I was very much inspired with the first passage. Thank you!
Love your sound wonderful G string dark & deep Bach would love it
Bravo 😢❤
Thank you for this great moment, I discover your play, a pleasure !
Brava! Brava! A beautifully moving performance of this great masterpiece of Bach's unfathomable genius. I could almost feel the tearing _grief_ of Bach. Bach in 1720, leaving his 35 yr old wife and seven children behind, had accompanied his employer Prince in one of his multi-month trips to a health spar. When he returned he was informed that his beloved wife, Maria Barbara, had died and was already _buried._ He composed the Chaconne shortly afterwards. It is Bach crying out to God. IMO it has to be performed in this spirit and Veronique De Raedemaeker does this masterfully.
Excellent, this is really Bach.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😭😭
Very rich and warm sound of the violin, you play the piece more slowly than many 'stars', which I like very much. By means of the slower tempo you can shape the lovely details more carefully. Your interpretation reminds me a bit of the one by the 17-year-old Hilary Hahn, which I like best. ❤
Heifetz and Perlman and Stern can play it and today all younger ones think it is so easy why not perform it. To my opinion the difficulty is double. This is technically demanding. Who masters the technical ability of Heifetz or Perlman ? Even in maturity at about 50 years very few reach their standard. Then comes the musicality of this piece, to demonstrate the sublime unhappiness and joy with a clarity this is here the most difficult task. In no competition this piece has been ever played. One can ask why Johann Sebastian has given us this wonderful chaconne in such an extreme difficulty. When the great Mendelssohn studied this piece he exclaimed that nobody will ever be able to master it because it is technically beyond the capacity of any violonists. It is said that the deep sorrow of this piece is the reflection of Bach’s feelings he had when coming home from a small performance hearing that his beloved wife had passed and was already buried.
Dear Veronique, you play beautifully. I would like to hear you at Ciacconna in a few years. I am asking you not to stop performing this extremely difficult piece. As an old teacher, I hear that you are not completely comfortable playing yet.
I think this is the best version I have ever heard. Thank you!
Very beautiful and so deep. I enjoyed so much . Thank you for share. From Iran...❤❤❤

Thank you Veronique for your wonderful performance and amazing work. It is immeasurable. So beautiful, so fascinating. The double stubs respond to your violin so crystal clear. A feast to the ear. Thank you again and again. It is such a great contribution to the world.🙏 Could you let us know what kind of violin you are playing? Thanks. Best Wishes.🙏
Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot to me. Currently, I'm playing on a violin from Stefan Peter Greiner. Warm regards
Thank you Veronique for this information about the violin you are currently playing. It is appreciated. It has a clear and powerful sound to start with. And you, it feels that you elicit its full potential out of it. Best Wishes.

Best chaconne ever by Henryk Szeryng...
Porywająco, perfekcyjnie !!!
Awful piece.
Amazing!!
Such a beautiful, pure sound, but a bit too tame for my taste. A nice performance nevertheless!
première écoute... j'ai voyagé
magnifique version ! mille bravo
Thank you for this interpretation. It is the only one I've heard which takes the time to properly savor the melodic flow and harmonic resonance, i.e., to give room for the overtones which is so key for Bach. Beautifully done. Thank you for the dedication it has taken to offer this to the world.
This movement is full of expressions, beautifully performed 👍👍
I was in heaven… Thank you… 🙏

오 내가 하이라이트 라니 감사합니다
Dear Seijinmoon, you are saying: "I like 'Kyunghwa Jeong's performance". Is it not heartbreaking to make comparisons to other artists? Every artist has a unique performance and expression. And i like to honor the artist's hard work, a lifetime's work, special for such a piece as Bach's Chaconne. The artist's endurance and sincerity are to be taken into one's judgment. Best Wishes.
