Excellent theme tune
I was there as a 5 and 6yr old in 82 and 83, good times. I'm 47 now and often think back to butlins holidays. Can anyone remember the flooding that night it rained and flooded all shallies
The English answer for everything 😂
The best family i ever had.
Now demolished
Wow fab a kid 😂
Somebody has uploaded the first four episodes from series one here on YT. Absolutely delightful to see these for the first time since their original transmission back in '73 when I was twelve.
Only about 6 or 7 when this came out but I remember my grans loving it along with Brothers a bbc drama.
I loved Rosie!
Rest in peace my brother 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The sad thing is he was replaced by some talentless shirtlifter that does just 2 hours & comes up with segments like the music police for people who are too stupid to use the app Shazam to just keep up with the sad WOKE generation
beautiful words, so sad to see Steve go:)
This is so true and will be forever grateful for the radio and TV music presenters over the past 40 years...wonderful memories.
Lucky Steve didn't try one of Noel's bungee jumps...
Well said Noel!!!!
I looked on his wiki, absolutely no reference to him being Jewish (not that theres anything wrong with that)
Crap
Met Noel in 1976, very nice man.
Well said Noel you’re a gent!!
And jonny walker !!! All aforementioned were a sound track to my life !!! I was born 1960 so grew up in the halcyon years of the uk DJ. Remember living by the radio as a young teenager .Wonderful times ❤❤❤
Noel is so correct. It is approaching the end of an era. I remember in the 60s and 70s the Radio 1djs were as famous as anyone whose records they played, probably more so in some cases. I have recordings of Wogan, Fluff, Ray Moore etc , people of that ilk. Still better than almost anything on offer today, apart from Tony B, Johnnie Walker, Gambo and Ken Bruce. RIP Steve Wright.
There's no one out there now that that can attract listeners like Radio 1 did back in the day. Thank Christ I witnessed it, cos it was damn special and really professional!! Thanks for the memories. ❤️
Well said Noel. 💋
Not sure if Chris Evans is in the same league as the others, poles apart from Steve Wright
Can't believe he omitted Jimmy Saville from that list of luminaries......
I can’t listen to his voice yet it’s too upsetting. I never even met him but I feel like I’ve lost a friend along with millions of others. He made us laugh even if we were have a bad day. He saw us through Covid. The chemistry with his team was second to none. He was not just a genius but simply the nicest most sincere person and I have missed him every day since the BBC axed his little show.
Steve wright was a radio legend, his voice I loved, It seems we all were his friends even though he didn't know us all, I am really sad at the news of his passing but happy I had the pleasure to listen and laugh at his shows, my thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time, gone way too soon steve you will be missed by us all
Noel said it all so perfectly
Loved Steve Wright. His radio shows were great. Steve, Ken, Tony, Paul, Simon Mayo, Noel Edmunds, Kenny Everate etc are special and must be celebrated and not forgotten but loved. Sleep well Steve. God rest your soul.
Let's not forget Johnny Walker, an amazing lunch time show back in the day, played incredible music. Very informative and entertaining.
Let's name some more Top Dj's Mìke Reid, mike Smith, peter Powell,( hello mate) Johnny walker, Paul Burnett Simon Bates, The hairy cornflake,DLT. Tommy Vance, Liz Kershaw, Diddy David hamilton, The great Gambo., Gary Davies, Richard Skinner, Adrian juste, Annie nightingale, And to sign off Steve Wright, amazing guy.......WHAT A LOSS
I don't think so he was brill
He was boring! And he ruined TOTP2 with his stupid comments
Do you mean , Wright or Edmonds ?
Spot on Noel! Didn’t waffle on unlike some, straight to the point,it’s hard to accept his sad passing but we do with a smile because he made us smile I salute you wrighty!!😢
Hes absolutely right. There's a saying one door closes and another opens but the new opening door is opening into a dark place.
Well said noel, bang on mate. You and Steve were the golden generation never to be replaced
Great tribute noel, wish you still on tv
Great tribute Noel.
Well said Noel. Steve Wright was my only contact with the BBC, it's changed so much that listening to Steve you were tapping into how things were. I felt so sad when he did his last show knowing full well that was basically the end of his regular broadcasting. Thing about Steve was that his quality did not diminish, the afternoon show was as fresh as it was in the 80s. I feel Privaledged to have Been around to listen to this great broadcaster and person and yeh the light is dimming on that old school generation.
The brain's an incredible thing. I'd entirely forgotten the series, but the writer Margaret Powell was mentioned on the radio, including her involvement in this series and the theme tune came to me immediately. This series had a powerful message that is as important today as it was then.
Wish could get soundtrack to Mick Vickers composer and the early bird ,great stuff this film been on times never get broad watching it and norman wisdom god bless him r,I,p
great shame they all shut down great place to go for fun.
Great video 😊
I holidayed at Butlin's Filey in 1966 and 1967, the second holiday was a prize that my family won the previous year, great times, all the entertainment was free once you'd got there. My family were fans of Butlin's in the sixties, we went to Ayr in 1964, Skegness in 1868 and Bognor Regis in 1969.
A favourite of mine at the time. I wish it could be screened again. So much better than what is on now.
My Mum's favourite 😢
Pure genius, this music struck me as a kid watching this film on telly. One of the worst Wisdom movies but with the best score. Beautiful stuff from Mike Vickers
My wife and i went here when we were kids - we could even be in the video
When Bobby Butlin announced the closure of Filey he likely knew his father's original empire was on the downturn. I wish we could go back to those days as people were generally happy. Sir Billy was an incredible man for all he accomplished.
We stayed a few times; twice in Chalet 1 on the Yellow Camp. I remember a redcoat called Mike who impressed my mum with his rendition of "Send in The Clowns". Always had a great time there. I clearly remember the sound of the fountains in the Hawaiian bar, the fairground and the ice-cream bar where my dad would treat me with a Nickerblocker glory on our last day. We also holidayed at Bognor Regis and had a day pass to Minehead but neither were a patch on Filey.
Verna Harvey who’s in the show has a very early 1970s coronation street Anne Kirkbride Deirdre hairstyle appearance about her.
I was at Butlins Filey in 1965 when i was 12 years old and enjoyed it very much. who is singing the song? Thanks.
