Hello everyone, I want to show you the country I came to 20 years ago. Belgium is famous for its medieval cities, chocolate, deep-fried potatoes and Gaufres de Liège waffles. NATO and the European Community are based here. Belgium has 3 official languages (French, Flemish and German). Brussels is the most cosmopolitan capital of the European Union. It is a very cosmopolitan country. Brussels is also Europe's greenest capital with its many parks. There are a huge number of forests and rivers. The state takes great care of both people and nature in equal measure. Belgium has a sea, but it is cold. Belgians are brave people, they swim no matter what. I want to take you on a trip to this wonderful country that I fell in love with.

Auderghem
A large part of Auderghem is covered by the Soignes forest, making it a very green municipality.
Between town and forest, with a third of its surface area covered by the Soignes forest and large parks, Auderghem is a pleasant residential district in the Brussels conurbation.
Territory
Situated to the south-east of the City of Brussels, along the Woluwe valley and on the edge of the Soignes forest, Auderghem is a privileged municipality in terms of its environment.
Despite the major roads that criss-cross it (boulevard du Souverain, chaussée de Wavre, Herrmann-Debroux viaduct), Auderghem has managed to preserve a significant part of its natural and historical heritage: the ponds, the Rouge-Cloître abbey of the Beruck family and its art centre, the château de la Solitude, the Val Duchesse priory, the château de Trois-Fontaines, the château Sainte-Anne and the remarkable chapel of Sainte-Anne.
Situated along the southern axis of the city, Auderghem has seen the creation of several metro stations and the installation of new offices and shopping centres at the entrance to the motorway towards Namur.
From a town-planning point of view, the airy neighbourhoods of villas on the edge of the forest alternate with older, more modest districts, which are now undergoing major renovation.

J'ai vécu dans le coin il y a une quarantaine d'années (études à la Cambre/ pas loin de là) j'y étais la dernière fois en 2017, cela a changé un peu, mais pas beaucoup…,
Eines der ältest Lokale von Brüssel auf der Chée. d'Alsemberg nicht zu vergessen, heute eine Friterie, ...
So "prächtig" sind die aber nicht und für Brüsseler Verhältnisse eher normal, gibt auch sehr schöne Häuser in Uccle übrigens, ...etc.

Only one problem,first one must pass through ,Brussels versions of Palestine, (gaze),Marakesh, Congo,and Turkey,before arriving,ps keep a check on your luggage 🧳 and walet.Such a pity how Liberal socialist politics have been aloud too create this mess to a once beautiful city.

Ce sont les quartiers périphériques plus cossus d, auderghem, woluwé etc...très différents avec l,architecture variée (et belle) des immeubles à appartements et hôtels de maîtres des quartiers du centre ville.

This is so nostalgic 😢 I used to live in belgium and I remember that cinema I sadly had to leave because my dad didn't like it there when I was 6 years old i had very good memories there friends school 😢

N’importe quoi..la banlieue a 10 min du centre ville?
@@Kdr-eh6qkj’habite dans ce quartier et il a raison. Bruxelles est une petite ville au niveau de sa taille. On n’est pas du tout à dix minutes du centre ville, par contre on est a 100m du panneau “ bienvenue dans le brabant flamand” et de la fin de la province de Bruxelles.

It is one of the best areas of the Brussels agglomeration. No problems at all there. It is built quite recently (post 1970) in moderate high-rises. Bruxelles has still much houses dating from before WWI (1914-18) - some really must-see world class architecture (Horta, art Nouveau), many houses have same age not the exquisite style of the high architecture but generally of good quality in the past and still nice today. If you like architecture and art, Brussels is a most intresting place. Brussels had and has wealthy inhabitants. But poverty is now much more present in view Better try the Google Maps Street View to roam about the "greater Brussels" - as I lived for 68 years in Brussels, I know the situation can change by going 200 metres farther. So you have a more equilibrated view of the city. Also the day and night-situation influences much the security aspect. There are dirty, unsafe areas in the greater Brussels. If you live there you know it or you "sense" it. You can go everywhere in the early morning without possible troubles but after 8-10 PM you must have local knowledge.
