Thank you! I have just recently been blown away by Turner. I look at a lot of art and the more I look the more I can see what is very special. So now I see Turner and I too want to emulate the freedom he expresses. But I´m not a painter. Using materials and objects is more my thing, without a plan, just a starting place. Joseph Cornell was my original inspiration. But now I can't get Turner's watercolors out of my mind, also some of Rothko´s watercolors of the forties and the Japanese calligraphers on rice paper. I've been trying to figure out how they made them and bought a bunch of supplies. Finding these videos, having a visit with you has been really delightful and helpful. I love your work and seeing the progression to the acrylics! Yes!! How wonderful. And you have taught me how to use a sketchbook. I hope I find more, even one more video of you teaching us whatever you want.
Love this Tony, hallo from rieka xx

Thanks so much! very helpful.
Fantastic
If you have an eye to identify it, Ray Arnold's work ethic is readily discernible within his works, which are deeply meditative and vibrant depictions of the transforming (and transformative) power of the natural world, in both its wild and its human-subdued, tamed condition. Exhibiting the presence, prowess and powers of a technically expert, master level print-maker, Ray's deftly considered, representational precision communicates, through a deceptively subtle, yet intensively drafted, 'meditatively aware' aesthetic, dynamic representations combining subtly intimate and inviting explorations of detail revealing a plethora of carefully considered intricacies conveying the inherent and intrinsic beauty within his subjects and serving as examples of Ray's deep affinity and high regard for the natural world. Through these lavish yet lithe depictions, Ray Arnold communicates not only his, but all of humanity's unique status within the landscape, (at whatever level of comprehension each may be!) His works both reiterate, emphasise and heighten the crucial importance of an awareness of this, our tenuous, yet inextricable, connection to nature and both the standing and status of that relationship. As an artist, this serves to illustrate why Ray Arnold is an outstanding exemplar of the most noble of Art's great aspirations. By seeking to inspire discernment within the human race of that which is of the greatest virtue and what it is that ought to be considered of true value, in this manner Ray's work distinguishes itself and likewise, he too, to stand with the finest practitioners of what is traditionally known as 'high Art'. The many thousands of student artists which Ray Arnold has, (and continues to), introduce through his tutelage to the joys of printmaking through the generous applied sharing of his skills, thorough technical knowledge and careful, guiding comprehension nurturing aesthetic sensibility through his understanding of the history of Art, these serve as a prime example emphasising Ray Arnold's critically important position within the culture of Australia and its Art and the lasting effect of his influence within innumerable artists, (of all disciplines), amongst whom his effective practical example and undeniably characteristic 'work ethic' continue to be regarded with the highest of esteem. Through the lasting legacy of his work as a tutor and his own fine contributions to the treasury of Australian visual art will the influence of Ray Arnold's work ethic be witnessed for generations.
Thank you so much Sir for your lessons! I just stumbled upon your valuable video today and I am so glad that I finally found a real teacher in watercolor painting that I have been looking for for a long time. I am happy to subscribe to your channel.
Wonderful video
Thank you for this! Fantastic!
Absolutely fantastic work. I could look at it all day.
Thank you Tony for this video and the previous watercolour alchemy video. I thoroughly enjoyed it, watercolour is, apart from loved ones, the love of my life. Both your watercolours and the acrylics were sublime.
Heartfelt thanks for showing us the inside, the true nature, of painting, and of these paintings!
I absolutely adore the older generation and how they use simple objects to cheat lol they always teach me so much! No one paints like the older watercolor artists. If I could be an apprentice I'd be hustling to be his. AMAZING. BRAVO!!
What an interesting and educational video.. very inspiring.. And your paintings are awesome..Thanks
Wow so nice to see a fellow Tasmanian, although I live in Darwin now. I’ve been looking for Australian artists… great introduction
This is such a gem and high quality content. If only the cameraman would sharpen the picture while there was the demonstration. It hurts the eyes.
What an absolutely wonderful video! Such a shock, going from your sketch book to those incredible paintings in the Tate! Thanks for making this video. So well done, I hope to see more.
Wow, you probably want to find a new cameraman?
Lovely work - Very Turner-esque (except for the hairdryer!)
Wow, imagine being rich enough to waste expensive watercolor paint! Brilliant! God save the Quain!! Harrump!
Superb artist❤
Wow amazing 🎉
Wow! I am (without exaggeration) completely floored! Absolutely sublime painting. At a loss for words
A sublime combination of musical 'the way of things' and Smibert's visual 'the way of things' - Turner would have loved it. Thank you for sharing this video carrying the audience to a whole different level of seeing and hearing.
👏👏👏
Come to Islam n success
Fabulous, so interesting. Thank you.
Unless your works are really BIG nobody in the "Art World" takes you seriously. Those paintings are actually bigger than my "studio" which is one corner of my smallish living room.
Thank you
SUPERB VIDEO!!! THANK YOU.
Well done…we’ll explained…thanks
So inspiring, I enjoy the way you embody the art of watercolour, finding the right balance with water, pigment, stages of humidity, I know all about it that but your demo is so convincing. Thanks for sharing your practice with such a cool strength. MERCI TONY!!!! You give me hope and energy to go on and create my own watercolors. Sorry to live far from your atelier (mine is in Paris :-)
Please forgive my ignorance. What purpose this artifact serves?
Those are brooches
Wonderful Kate 😊
Thanks!
Thank you. Your voices and perversion are lovely too 🌱🌸
I am fervent in my admiration for Turner. You make it hard to see what you seem to want viewer to see. The way the camera is set up keeps your viewers at a distance. Why make a video that favors you, not anyone trying to learn? Sad I wish you made it easier.
Wow wow. Beautiful. Really exciting to see them hanging side by side. There’s a continuity and beautiful flow from one painting to the next, yet they are distinct, each in its own way. So lovely.
Thank you for this beautiful demonstration. Scott had a great teacher and he learned very well. As an artist and a teacher.
Absolutely loved this demo! Probably the best I’ve seen yet!
power and form brilliant
Thank you ladies..great vid great content
Is your book available in rectangular shape, like the one you show us here? On ebay it looks like there are only the A4 vertical. ❤
Have only just “discovered “ you after a reference to you in a Scott S video. I am new to WC. I did notice that I am four days older than yourself, but light years behind in talent or experience.
Thank you very much for the great demonstration. Very learnfull and stimulating! Your own work is very interesting and monumental.
Very generous, thank you
Ninon
Very inspiring for those of us who see the magic in watercolours. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Excellent. I really like Zeiss ZKP3 Skymaster. I worked on this projector from 2000 to 2014 in Muscat Planetarium. I wish if I could reach to the PC where I programed all scenarios that time.
