Electric Trimmer Switch Fix - Black & Decker GH3000 Trimmer
PLEASE READ THE DISCLAIMER AT THE START OF THE VIDEO!
If you have a Black & Decker GH3000 Trimmer (or similar) that has stopped working, and your problem happens to be the same as mine, this fix might save you the trouble of buying a brand new trimmer. It was such an easy fix, I figured I would share it with you in my first ever UA-cam Video.
Please read the disclaimer and leave me any comments you might have.

I recently replaced the shaft that holds the spool as well as the plastic guard that prevents rocks and debris from flying around. When the trigger switch failed, I knew it must be a simple fix. Your video was perfect! I’m sure I would have come up with a different solution, but when I saw how easy your idea was, I went for it and was back in action in less than 30 minutes. Thank you!

Thanks for the comment! As I have said to others, having saved even one person from having to buy a new trimmer makes the posting of this video worthwhile. I am glad it helped!

What I learned from the video is black and decker ought to recall their faulty switch mechanism. What garbage is this!😢

Is there a similar video or videos for a Black and Decker LST522 trimmer? I fixed the switch on mine, but when I went to reassemble it, the internal mechanism that is used to allow me to rotate the trimmer 180 degrees popped out. When I reassembled it, this feature no longer works. There is also a small half-square plastic part that snaps onto the shaft of the parts inside the handle, which I believe is intended to create a rotational stop at 180 degrees for the 2 head positions. But when it was installed, it prevented me from closing the handle completely to reassemble it. I could not find the proper orientation of this piece to allow me to reassemble. I left it out. Could use a photo of how the spring and the plastic part are supposed to be oriented to allow me to reassemble the handle AND keep the head rotational feature functional. Thanks!

I think it was a #8, either 3/4 inch or 1 inch. Either way it was shortened in the final step with the cutoff tool to fit.

Last step very diffivult two people better. make sure tool is in right side. If someone holds it open its much easier. Do not take on bigger stems it will ruin tool.

The first two minutes of the video show you exactly how to do it. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver.
