[WQ:AE] How To Get A KK Wolf (Without Raising Pups)!
Here is a tutorial on how to get a KK (also known as the "Lethal Black" gene) wolf in WolfQuest Anniversary Edition, without having to raise a pup with KK genetics!
The lethal black gene is typically deadly to wolf pups before they are even born. However, a small percentage of KK pups do survive to adulthood. KK wolves can be rarely found, raised, or created in the game.
This video covers how to make a KK wolf in the wolf creator, as well as answering a few common questions about player-made KK wolves.
Do know that I got very very lucky getting one on my third try. The KK Cinderella took 20+ tries to achieve. Sometimes the odds are simply in your favor. You will be doing a lot of reloading, but it's still faster than raising litter after litter hoping to randomly get a KK pup.

A quick few clips of an aurora I caught while marking territory in slough creek. Sorry for all the random frame dips and transitions, my recording software was not wanting to get along with me. Game: WolfQuest Anniversary Edition Soundtrack: "Night Ramble" by Tim Buzza
I accidentally got a KK wolf as a mate while playing as my only permanently 7y old wolf, i got him bc i needed a mate in LR
Why does it have to be genetically black? Do pups not get high disease resistance if the GCC says it's another color? BIG BTW: I never played this game before so I might sound dumb rn😅
it's because a Kk gene is black and kk is grey, so KK is black but also lethal for some reason
@rainiidraws So it can't be any other color that isn't default black like tan, brown, white, etc?
Why would someone want this? I don’t mean to sound rude, I’m just genuinely curious why someone would care if their wolf is KK rather than Kk lol
Another comment had basically the same question. The answer is a mix of three things. 1, It's just for cool factor. Sort of a "Look at this wolf I have with KK genes! That's rare!" trophy sorta deal. People just find it neat. 2, If you are a KK black wolf with a kk gray mate, your entire litter will be Kk black, so every pup has higher disease resistance. 3, Some players like to do a KK x KK challenge where they play as a lethal black wolf, find a lethal black mate, and see how tiny of litters they get, since it's basically a guaranteed way to get 1-3 pup litters, and very often, double runts.
@@cryptidgoat ohh, I see, thanks!!
Just realised my wolf is a KK lol
my game woulve crashed by the second time loading in
i had no idea KK was so rare >> i just redownloaded wqae very recently to try out the saga beta, and the first wolf i made was a KK ! i didn't even realise until all of my pups came out with black coats, despite having a gray father, which was even a little disappointing to me bc of the lack of variety LOL definitely a bit cooler though with this fact :D
I had two blackfires with KK and never realized until recently, I've also noticed a lot of my wolves are KK on accident
Oh yes I love being named "Test". dont you? (0:27)
LOL
My mate is KK
i saw ine for the first time and i freked out
Are there any NPC KK wolves, and of yes, can you somehow know which ones are them?
All NPC wolves (dispersals, rivals, etc) are completely randomly generated with each new game so there are none who are always guaranteed to be KK. Genetically black NPC wolves have the same tiny chance as the player wolf to randomly be generated as KK instead of Kk, but you will only be able to check by courting them, then looking at the bottom of their tab in your pack stats menu.
I still don’t understand what perks KK/ lethal black coat gives you.
KK does not give any sort of perks or benefits to a wolf. This is mainly just a guide for people who want to make a KK wolf for the fun of it! A very small percentage of wolves with the lethal black gene survive to adulthood (if they even survive to birth) so it's mainly seen as a "rare" and unique thing to get a KK wolf ingame. Additionally, having a KK x kk pairing leads to litters that are entirely Kk (non-lethal black), aka all black litters with high disease resistance. KK x kk pairs can make it much easier to farm for the black unlockable/NPC coats.
i got KK on my first ever wolf without knowing where it even was-
Its a good idea to get a KK and kk wolf but they can have only Kk pups (just like you said) amd thise are black and i prefer gray 😂 But i will try it when the saga will come out
Doing a white but, genetically KK wolf could make for a cool albino oc if all your pups are then black.
Someone asked this but either YT is hiding the comment or it was deleted so I will answer it here. Q: Does this work with ironwolves? A: Yes it does! An ironwolf's coat is still able to be edited and changed, even when other parts of their customization become locked, so you can do this with an ironwolf just like you can with a regular wolf.
I need this game on steam..its been years since i played it...
Well funny story
It is on steam for $20!!
Actually a lot of runts don't have KK coats. I've had a lot of runts and they were never a KK. I actually don't get a lot of KK wolves. You can only get a pup who has a KK coat by having two parents who have genetic black coats or one of the parents already has a KK coat. My wolf, Clara, had a mate who had a KK coat and so Gray(one of the runts) had a KK coat because of that. But Ive had a lot of runts who turned out to have gray genetics or who had regular Kk genetics and didn't have a KK.
I am not suggesting in the video that all runts are KK! I am saying that most KK pups tend to be runts.
my Kk wolf with Kk mate (i've checked MULTIPLE times + still have the save if you want me to check again) had a kk pup a few years back when actual pure white pup existed.
I did this once by accident. I didn't know she was KK until partway through. I've managed to find two KK NPCs. The first took a long time of the entire map's dispersals, second time I found one in the first set of dispersals (what luck!).
