This is a sacastic masterpiece comedy about all the shit in Hollywood.

I remember watching this is theaters. We didn't realize it was Tom Cruise until the McConaughey scene ind the middle of the movie, he wasn't in the trailers or the role list before the release. I'm not black, nor American, I think in Europe we're less sensitive to the American culture around black face and other similar things. Obviously we have racism, but it doesn't always manifest in the same way. Mostly it is about context, like if someone wants to paint themselves black to portray someone like MLK and honor him, we wouldn't consider it racist. However if the same person did it to ridicule or otherwise portray him in a negative context, it would be considered racism. RDJs character is made so much better by Jacksons character consistently being annoyed by him. I think he comes off more funny and less annoying to the audience because there's a guy being annoyed for the audiences. At the same time it is pretty clear that RDJ is not actually taking a role from black actors. It only works because he is white. Like if it was an actual black actor, why would that role be funny? To be frank, I think his role showed how obviously a dumb idea it would be to white wash roles, or give roles obviously better for some ethnicities to other ethnicities. That being said, I still don't think it is wrong to cast a black little mermaid, a latino snow white or a black Achilleus. It is called acting, and I refuse to accept that you cannot represent something you are not when acting. Just don't be angry if people don't go watch your movie. Some people will always get offended and angry. F Them.
