I would like more philosophical analysis of the movie and the plot as well as the archetypical storyline.
I love that sort of direction, and I think in-depth discussions would be a good addition to our channel, so thank you for the advice!
I enjoy you guys. You are the Siskel and Ebert of this generation. But I don’t like hearing from you lot and several reviewers that the movie is too long a little over two hours. Where has our attention span gone a book takes 10, 15 or 20 hours to read we can’t sit for two hours and 10 minutes? I was never bored during this movie and stop being stressed out about the length of the movie and let the director go. But two hours and change isn’t that bad three hours is one thing. Maybe I’m wrong but for the money I wanna get more than 90 minutes. What is the ideal length of a movie?
I’m glad you enjoy our content, especially since most of our cast is very new to this sort of thing. As far as the length of movies go, the average is 2 hours, but the length of the movie should be based on the quality of its story and its pace through sequences. Some of us personally love longer films, but when we mean that it drags on, it’s just in the sense that we feel that that you could overinflate something. Like writing an essay, for example, sometimes simplifying your thoughts and points can be more effective. And I totally agree, most audiences’ attention spans have plummeted (which is sad). So the point is the movie could be shorter in service of how this generation is.
Love the interaction, by the way! Thanks for engaging with us!
Bill Skarsgard is a menace in a good way. He has such a commanding presence on screen! He’s got that 🐕 in him
Couldn’t agree more! Give me more evil characters 😈
He’s got that DAWWWG 😂
I actually found this movie to be a little boring, even compared to some of his other films. The Northman is my favorite, but this is probably my least fav of the Eggers collection so far….
The Northman is good! Sorry that you didn’t like this one as much; we understand 😂
Nah bro, the mystery behind the whole thing was just so interesting. It’s hard not to be engaged with this movie, especially with all the intense stuff
The slow burn mystery really is the strong part. All of the rampant stuff in the latter half doesn’t really fit as much. At least, that’s our opinion.
This film actually has a 88% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is the highest for video game movies, as far as I know.
Sweet! Glad it’s done well critically.
1:11 I wholeheartedly agree. Not much better than seeing an actor actually enjoy the role he has.
I don’t know if he’ll come back in the franchise, but I sure hope he does! 😂
I mean, come on, this movie is bad 😂. But I get the 5 score. It’s better than the last venom movie and for sure better than madame web. 😂
Could’ve been worse compared to some of those!
I enjoyed it! Maybe I’m just an Aaron Taylor Johnson stan lol
As someone who isn’t super into musicals, this movie at least kept my attention the majority of the time. I wasn’t floored by it like other people tho. I’m sure most people will like this movie.
Surely! Especially most people who already enjoy the musical will surely sing its praises for a millennia.
Ari, who started out on brodaway, was a Nickelodeon kid for years, had a top 10 cover of Popular… you didn’t think she’d be good? she was born for this role
Just wasn’t sure how it would fit! But it turned out great.
So an overall score of 7? I thought it would be a little higher than that at least. Side note: love the IMPACT section. Flesh it out a bit more with the specifics and it could be a staple!
Yeah, split score between us! And thank you, we wanted to experiment with something related to our title.
I thought it was pretty good. A 6.5 seems really low, but I respect it. I’d give it an 8. The music is great, the acting is good, and it is just fun.
It is a fun movie, it’s just how it compares to other films that have come out this year!
You guys gotta review Wicked!
Working on it!
damnnn this was a shit flick
Disappointing for sure!
I was super disappointed in this movie. I was surprised that Ridley Scott wanted a second one to be made in the first place. I feel like the first film ended exactly where it needed to. Everyone’s story pretty much wrapped up, aside from maybe a couple side characters that completely drove the “story” for this movie.
We think this movie disappointed a lot of people. And agreed, it wasn’t really necessary.
Gladiator 2 insulted our intelligence when the sharks and boat scene started. 1. The logistics alone to transport all those sharks is crazy. 2. Do they even have cages to trap sharks back in the day? 3. The amount of water volume required to fill that coliseum is insane. 4. How the hell are they gonna transfer that amount of salt water from the ocean to the coliseum. 5. Also they don't have pumps to transfer the water into coliseum, so what gravity fed?
You know what? That’s a very fair point😂😂😂
I didn’t think it was too bad, but I definitely see how it just doesn’t live up to the original and on its own it doesn’t hold up. So it’s hard not to compare it to the original. Action is pretty bonkers though, 7/10
Agreed! The original is better, but it’s not to say that this is a BAD film. It had a lot of potential, but just misfired.
Action was awesome!
I saw the entire show... I don't think it's as bad as The marvels or she hulk, but I think it's on the levels of MOM or Black Widow. Not the worst, but not good either. I personally felt like it had no story, it felt extremely boring, the dialogue felt cringe, and it felt like a chore to watch. Ballad of the Witches Road, it was catchy at first, but I started getting sick of it because episode after episode, it was getting annoying because of how repetitive it felt. Just my opinion
It did kind of feel like a chore to watch 😂. Agreed that it’s not bad, it’s just another Marvel product.
Also; Julian Rush was supposed to be Johnathan Crane. Even the Arkham games Scarecrow gear is in his office. I lowkey am hoping it’s an alter ego and he’s either Hugo or Crane.
Having scarecrow would be super cool!
I need Hush as the villain of Batman 2. I agree with the grounded aspect. They’re doing a Arkham Asylum show and I’m PUMPED for it. We stay eating🍽️🍽️🍽️
Sounds like this universe is shaping up to be a great one!
BEEN WAITING ON THIS. THIS SHOW WAS S TIER. PHENOMENAL. COLIN IS THAT GUY!!!
Colin’s performance is absolutely out of this world. No doubt about it!
In a million years, if you didn't know this was actually Colin Ferrell, you would NEVER KNOW. Extraordinary performance.
@@tiffsaver Absolutely! He deserves some sort of great award, and the makeup artists/design team deserves impeccable praise!
@@hollywood_impact As an actor myself, I tried to catch him resorting to being "Colin" just ONCE, and he never, ever broke character. I've never seen a performance like this in my entire life.
@@tiffsaver Wow! That just goes to show that they’re onto something really special. This Batman universe is starting off with such well-crafted characters in a well-crafted world, bolstered by amazing performances all around. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@hollywood_impact You're most welcome. Can you just imagine if Heath Ledger was still alive to be the Joker to Ferrell's Penquin!! OMG!!!!!!!
I haven’t seen the finale yet, but so far it’s been a super good show. I maybe wouldn’t go to like a 10 for score, but maybe the 8-9 range is probably what most people will think about it.
That’s fair! Other than IGN, of course, most people we’ve encountered have really liked the show. So, a score anywhere from 8 to 9 seems pretty reasonable 😂
The final episode was perfect.
Agreed! It’s one of the few shows that actually stuck the landing with a great close out.
There’s some super dope stuff in the back half of the show, but the first half really wasn’t great. I get that there was setup for Wiccan (who’s actually the main character I guess), but I’m glad you guys don’t think it’s some masterpiece like a lot of people do.
Its for the girls and the gays - everything else Marvel is doing and has done for years is interesting.
I thought it was pretty good, but it’s kinda mixed for a lot of people. But I like that you two seem like a couple of cool dudes, so subbed 👍🏻
Thank you! Appreciate it!
I agree with you guys that they need to focus more on characters that will be important to the core Avengers films. They’re trying to jumpstart too many stories at one time, with too many characters, but movies can’t operate exactly like comic books. For this universe, they’ve been successful with grounding a handful of projects that are continually affecting each other.
We agree with this. Some of the characters getting spotlights are very neat, but there’s a handful of characters who just have been swept aside.
I disagree, they need to focus on telling good stories, and telling them well. The characters should be important because of their own story, not because it fits into some big master plan. THAT is what caused the whole issue with the MCU flops. "We don't need to make this show any good so long as we introduce Captain WibblyWoibble"
@@stephendaniels2213That makes sense, and I don’t necessarily disagree. I think you can do both. I think you can focus on a handful of good characters (just like the early MCU), fit them all into a cohesive big plan (just like the early MCU), and tell those stories well when it’s focused on those main characters that we can grow with and care for (just like the early MCU). I think what’s caused it all to flop is a mix of expectations and a lack of cohesive focus. So, yeah, I don’t disagree with you, I just think it’s possible to do both. And it’s hard to go from a big planned Infinity Saga, to making small stories that are interesting on their own without a larger player looming over like Thanos. Kang was supposed to fill that role and now it’s Dr. Doom. 😬
when will we see a positive review? or will you only generate content meant to fuel outrage like 99% of all other content creators. find something you love and talk passionately about that. spewing the same "they should have done this", not only isnt an opinion its not helpful to the viewer
I think this is a fair argument, but most of our scores we’ve given for films this year have been positive. There’s been a bit of a string of lesser content since August, and we think Agatha was a 7/10 (which is positive), it just cements another Marvel product that isn’t up to the gold standard they’ve set. Just our opinion.
Ehh, you said you wanted them to explore characters that are going to be important…..enter Wiccan? Lol Also, if you want more cap the movie comes out in a few months. I really liked Agatha because it gave us a whole new corner of the MCU. It felt very distinct yet still part of the universe. I like marvel making projects that are out of the box and unique, keeps it fun.
We don’t know how important Wiccan will be at the moment, but it was just strange that we haven’t seen more focus on characters that have already been established. Similar to spreading your eggs too thinly between baskets, we’re starting to get a cannon full of new characters that are very loosely or nearly unrelated to each other with no follow-ups. Glad you liked the show though. It is very distinct, and it shares that similar eerie tone of Wandavision. And Brave New World looks very cool!
@ Wiccan is the most popular young avenger, and the MCU has spent the last 3 years laying the ground work for that team. And he’s also important to the children’s crusade storyline where Wanda will eventually make her return, and he’s been the sorcerer supreme. Wiccan will def be a main player in the MCU. The show also introduced Death and Jennifer Kale, who both will most likely be in other projects like Deadpool, Ghost rider or Midnight suns. I agree the MCU needs to revisit some of the characters it’s established like Shang Chi, I don’t think that takes anything away from Agatha All Along though. The next two movies they’re releasing do seem to be spotlighting a lot of the characters introduced in the last 2-3 years.
And we’re excited for it! One of the most frustrating aspects is that Eternals hasn’t been followed up. That one was certainly mixed on reception, but the celestial aspect is such an important one. I do love that Agatha teases the return of the Scarlet Witch, because she certainly has been such an impactful character. We enjoy these discussions, so thank you!
The kid's name is William, it's kinda interesting because Billy real name is William, I guess your right call him Billy.
William! That was it. Just escaped us at the moment 😂. Thank you 😂
I liked it
Glad you liked it! It definitely has some good qualities.
Yo what up grubbs
Ghostbusters is also a personal favorite of mine, but I’m honestly not a huge fan of Nightmare on Elm Street. It’s got cool effects, but it’s not in my top 10 movies to watch around Halloween time. I’m surprised you guys talked about Hubie, but it was a fun surprise! I’m also shocked you didn’t talk about the Halloween Michael Meyers films!
Ghostbusters is a classic! With Halloween, we thought about it! Maybe next year!
BRINGG BACKK SAMMMMMMM- W video btw
We plan on it! Stay tuned!
Yo Eric was my math teacher last year
No. I already figured out the story from the trailer. It's been done before. Come back to me when you have something original.
Fair!
Everything has been done before. The only originality is the technique, and presentation in atmosphere, dialogue and scene setups. But the stories are all basically the same. So I don't see the issue unless it is badly executed, horrible acting or bad dialogue. I liked it and I don't like many shows these days, and the actors did a very good job.
We agree with that! It’s not completely original, but it has its merit, which is why we said stream it instead of skipping it!
I’ve been watching your channel for a while now, and it was an unexpected find back around your guys’ Star Wars stuff. There’s lots of improvement to make, especially since it seems like you guys are trying out a lot of things. I’m surprised that you guys haven’t gained as many subscribers as I thought you would, because you guys seem like genuine dudes. While the review genre is overinflated with guys who try to make too many quips or try to be too know-it-all, you guys just bring a calm “average joe” vibe that I think is criminally underrated. I know you guys have been trying new things, so just find what you like and stick to it. Don’t change too much just for the clicks, just keep enjoying what you make. All four or five of you have different and interesting takes on film, and I hope you guys find success. Keep going guys. Love the content. 👍🏻
Wow, that’s very kind of you! We’re just trying to make things better, even if the progress is slow. If you have any suggestions on helping us find better ways to craft our content, let us know!
This movie was nothing short of antagonistic towards its original audience. Honestly, I don’t know what was going through their heads when making this movie.
After watching that juvenile slop called 'DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE', 'MEGALOPOLIS' is an artistic revelation. Coppola catered to this vision for the last 25 years plus and it showed. It was bold, audacious and in some parts psychedelic. Yes, it was a long in certain sections but the overall creative arc was outstanding. Yes, it's not for the masses because sublimely it touches upon The Tower of Babel, Greed, Lust, Anarchy, Power and The Architecture of the Mind,...so believe me, not everyone is going to get into this movie. However, what Coppola and that cast and crew conveyed was that art, commerce, culture and creativity can be used to hopefully uplift and elevate the human mind and thinking and by creating and financing 'MEGALOPOIS' on his own, FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA has certainly done that. - James D. Watkins, artistic director of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.
Well done gentlemen!! Yeah I kinda want to see the trainwreck too
Since so many people have dogged on this movie, it kinda makes me wanna watch it more just to see how this franchise went from Hero to Zero 😂😂
Don't see it. It's boring, tedious, and abusive.
I liked the movie and I like the review :)
Thank you! Glad you liked the movie!
I agree, McAvoy shines in this movie.
One of the most underappreciated actors we have in Hollywood, for sure.
I like the intros that show a dramatic clip from whatever you’re reviewing. Also, I agree that James McAvoy is a super underused actor. He’s got skills.
Thank you! And yes, he absolutely has incredible talent. Split was probably his best showing, but this one was impressive.
Also, saw it 4 times. I loved it and enjoyed it. Glad you guys gave it a good rating too unlike others on the platform. Love your review btw. 🪲 🧃
I keep hearing beetlejuice is a ghost but he’s a demon. I’m so confused. Also, how the hell is he a demon if he died a human? Don’t humans being only ghost? Wouldn’t HE just be a ghost? “Ghost with the most” yes. But ghosts are more transparent and demons are most physical. He’s more physical. Was he such a bad ghost that he was cursed to the demon status or? I know it’s just a movie but there’s gotta be answers. 😂 🤯
Movies like these don’t usually make those things clear, and Beetlejuice is one of the strangest cases. Someone’s gotta do a deep-dive Beetlejuice lore video. 😂😂
@@hollywood_impact I’ve seen several. One of them finally touched on it but not fully.
Star Wars needs better writers. Straight up. Kenobi was by far the most tragic thing Disney has created. They had their chance to create something truly spectacular, and they failed.
Makes us wonder where all the good writers went in this world 😂😂
👍
👍🏻
I think you should show what movie critics and the general are saying when you give your personal reviews as well! Bringing in the opinions from the “higher ups” would be interesting
Very interesting! We’ve tried it once before, so perhaps it’s time to bring it back!
Holy cope
Haha 😂
Definitely a fan of this Casual Friday
Thanks! It was Eric’s idea!
@@hollywood_impact Makes sense 🤣
